Nothing in his routine changed except his soul like his surrounding felt empty. But this vaccum that he felt he couldn't understand. He was like the newborn kid who didn't understand the feeling of hunger..yet felt a strange discomfort when not fed. Just the difference they could cry out but he didn't even know that. .. even if did.. he couldn't.
As time passed his life only became hell. Another month had passed without her. He had assumed he would get used to it, like every other change in life. But things doesn't seem to ease for him.. not seem to come in terms with the reality. Not able to understand the continuous resistance with-in to accept the given situation. Why was this ongoing opposition he wondered.
It was just another torturous day & he had settled himself in the couch to watch the news in their bedroom. His eyes again & again went to the bed where she would otherwise be reading a magazine or lost in her phone. He was trying hard to focus at the news which really didn't have anything interesting. He just randomly changed the channel. His eyes were still wandering to their bed, to her wardrobe while his fingers kept punching the buttons on the remote. Suddenly he heard some odd sounds coming from the TV. He looked up.. only see some English movie with a couple making out... a very sensuous seen. Had been is his usual reaction he would have just switched off the TV. May be his loneliness.. his missing her.. his urges.. he looked at the scene more than usual pause. He got really frustrated realizing wat exactly he was doing. He just turned off the TV.. went into the wash room in shame. Devastated with himself glaring at making out scene. The kind of person he was... all this was act of condemn. To be frank he had never seen anything like this in his entire life.
He threw up into the sink.. & fell on the floor in pain. Not understanding why & where did it hurt him exactly. Why did he feel so heavy all the while. (well son this is called emotions)

The phases in life affect every one mentally & psychologically & ultimately bring about a significant change in our identity. Marriage was certainly a memorable event in Geets life, it constituted a lot to wat she was today... a new individual & this discussion of divorce had lead her to be unscrambled the unexplored tumultuous facets of her being. She had gone through a long phase of emotional turmoil before making up her mind & filing a divorce was no joke in her community it was not less than a sin. The worst is the time period it takes...
Her first step was to find a good lawyer. A lawyer who could guide her correctly & be her strength.. not a pain on her back. She had met Meera after doing a considerable research.
PAST just before filling for divorce
After identifying the lawyer it took a month for her to punch those numbers on her keypad finally & a week to speak up after couple of blank calls. By now Meera understood Geets plight well. She was really supportive & understanding. Very good guide.
First question Meera asked Geet was why she wanted the divorce & Geet had no specific reason. Meera tried to explain she couldn't get divorce like this. According to hindu marriage act ..there had to be reasons like.. outside marriage relation.. for which Geet instantly defended Maan as person with high principles.
Meera offered
Inflicting physical & mental abuses or sexually impotent or inability to involve in sexual intercourse.
Some incurable diseases could be insanity too..
Geet concluded it was a disaster. This whole idea was crap! She immediately said sorry to have wasted her time & decided to leave.
Meera had seen lots of such cases in her life actually worse. She loved woman standing for themselves than sulking in self pity. She offered Geet some tea & took her to the garden. They took a causal walk. Meera slowly probed Geet. After hearing all of her kashmakash... meera took a deep breath. She didn't say anything then. After two days Meera called Geet back & requested for an appointment. By now Geet had lost all hopes of freeing herself from the marriage.
Meera was very straight forward. She suggested .. the only way they could have a divorce without any negativity would be with mutual consent. Geet looked blankly.
Meera had thought it all.. if Maan was as she described.. then.. for sure things will sort out with this move of hers. But otherwise.. they will get divorced. But heart in heart she wanted Geet to be happy.. & she could clearly see her happiness was in getting a companion.. & the kind of girl Geet was.. she will only want to see that in Maan .. non other.
PRESENT
hence they decided to file a divorce in mutual consent. So it was left on Geet to get Maan to sign the divorce papers. Which she had no idea how. She had tried a million time to speak to him at home, but he never gave her chance.. even if he did..they would get distracted with a call. The closest she ever got was to tell him directly I have something important to discuss.. he said umm
& just started to reply mails on his blackberry.
After a long silence he just continued to type his mail
thats how impt was her talk to him. She sighed & decided to this resort to that appt in his office.
Meera was more than shocked to receive the signed copy from Maan which he had actually signed that day in anger. Latter he did go through it with his lawyer. His lawyer explained him, it was divorce on mutual consent so there was no reason mentioned by her. He had read the divorce papers so many time to see if he could see why !!!
wat came shocking according to his lawyer was she didn't want anything from him. Not even the dowry that she got. Nothing nothing at all.. & here strangely to Maan, pampi kept ranting abt Geet will now not leave any chance to ransack Khurans.
Couple of months had passed by with them apart. Maan only felt his life slipping out of his hand. He knew there was no end to his misery & he had to live with this for rest of his life.. this was his destiny. He could have fought if he had a slightest of hope but then how can he force her to be with him. He argued .. she is just young.. don't know wat is right or wrong. She doesn't understand she is bringing so much of defame to the family. It his duty to explain it to her, tell her wat is right or wrong.
Then a thought
But then she likes some one else..

It was after 4 months they were to see each other... his heart was beating crazily like a teenager waiting for his date. Meera didn't fail to notice that. As soon as Geet walked in.. looking pale, weak, delicate.. he felt part of him just reaching to her. His ego self still sat rooted quietly. His gaze was fixed on her. He observed her like he was seeing her for the first time. Every bit of her. Her hesitance, how scared & uncomfortable she looked. She wore a simple cotton salwar kameez. he didn't miss the mangalsutar she still wore. With one hand she was clutching her hand bag. She probably couldn't even put herself to walk into those walls. She had seen all this only in films. In real it all looked so horrifying. she just stood there. Meera had to comfort her & walk her in.
Maan got really concerned why was she alone. Where was her family. Before he could get more into all that their case was called for.
(muskan no lawyer.. hence don't have much of the intricate details on this.. initially it was 1yrs the couple had to say separately for a mutually agreed divorce I guess & now it is reduced to six months.. I think.
They were already separate for 4months & hence 2 more months.. )
The case was simple. The judge had to just give them that 6months separation period it should have been done.. moreover.. 4 months had already passed.. but on meera's request.. judge suggested them to meet a family counselor.
