We did not talk throughout the drive to my work; we rarely talked outside the room. I just sat there beside him, while he drove.

It was just as it always has been, but today was different, today he was not my husband, he was just my friend as we just decided.

I smiled and sighed, he looked at me and smiled and then again concentrated on driving.

Maan never use to do two things at a time, when he drove he concentrated fully on road and when he cherished me he concentrated fully on me.

Sometimes I thought he was like a robot programmed to do things.

I again smiled; he gave me a confused look but did not say anything.

When we reached my work, he looked at his watch; and started the car and without any salutations drove.

He had to be at his office at 10 and it was already 9:30 so it was just too much to ask him to do such formalities, he thought that they are just waste of time and breath.

Rajji saw me, shocked was a small word, I just did not know what to say

And I was saved when my client Mrs. Rosy came dressed in the outfit I had designed for her.

So I was now busy with her and then as the clock ticked we all were busy with our hands full with orders, deliveries, etc,

It was 8:30 pm when we finally could breathe.

And before Rajji could ask I fled asking the guard to lock once everyone left.

When I came to the parking I realized that I did not bring my car, and before I could think there was the black Merck, waiting for me, as usual Maan was not there in it, but the driver

At this time Maan would be with her mother having dinner.

Savitri Devi my ex mother in law, was always very particular about dinner, she made sure that Maan daily had his dinner with her at 8:15 pm sharp.

Even when Maan had some conference or meeting, he would leave it in between and have dinner with his mother and then return.

I stepped in the car and the driver dropped me at my apartment and went back.

I went inside and slowly took out the envelope and read it and then kept it in the safe.

Our divorce was very easy, it was with mutual consent. I did not ask was any alimony or allowance. And I also did not ask for the custody of our kids.

We have been living separately for 2 yrs before filing the papers, and rest was a routine process.

It was I who demanded it, and he did not even once protested .

G: (I knew it, he was always busy) I am on my way

Once I was in the parking of the building I saw him coming out of KC building, he came near me

M: so what do you want to talk

He said as if we have been talking on daily basis, there was no pain of separation.

G: I want divorce

M: what?

G: you heard me

M: ok on what terms

G: mutual consent

M: any claims

He was talking like, divorce was a deal nearing closure

G: no claims

M: kids

G: they were never mine

M: (for the first time I sensed pain) Geet

G: I am only their biological mother, they are their grandmother's kids

G: so, is it ok with you?

M: if you want this, it's ok with me

And he left

The divorce was filed and today here I am , alone as I have been for so long
