Part 30
Geet opened her eyes and looked straight into Maan's deep dark brown eyes. He had awoken about half an hour earlier, washed and dressed and decided to wait in their room on the bed beside her, for her to wake up.
"Good morning Geet" he said huskily bending down to kiss her cheek.
"Good morning Maan" Geet said shyly. "When did you arrive? It must have been late" she said getting up from the bed.
"Yes it was. You were sleeping soundly... Wait! Stay there Geet" Maan said, holding her hand.
Geet looked at him puzzled at first and then thought "does he want to..." blushing at the idea.
Maan saw Geet redden and then realised what she must be thinking. "Geet, we need to talk" he said quickly, to manage the situation. "I know what you were thinking, though Geet...maybe after we talk?" he teased, kissing her cheek again.
"Haw" Geet said pushing him and trying to get up again.
"Geeet" he whined. "Stay...I thought it would be nice if we could spend some time getting to know each other, before we head off to Delhi tomorrow"
Geet looked at him and smiled. He was thinking the same as her that they needed to get to know each other.
She sat down beside him, waiting for him to start. On the other hand, he sat there looking at her, waiting for her to start. After some time both were getting frustrated and spoke at once "Geet..." "Maan..."
"Pehle aap"
"Pehle tum"
"Pehle aap"
"Pehle tum"
"Pehle aap"
"Pehle tum"
"Pehle aa..." Geet tried but couldn't finish her sentence as Maan covered her mouth with his hand.
"Geet, ladies first. Why don't you tell me about yourself?" Maan asked.
"Well, I am Geet Handa...I mean Geet Khurana now" Geet giggled making Maan smile. "I am 21 years old" she continued. This bit of information shocked Maan a bit. She was a lot younger than him. 7 years to be precise!
Geet looked at his shocked expression and asked "Kya hua?"
"Nothing...I was only thinking how young you are" Maan replied
"I am not young...well not in HP. Everyone my age is married and has at least one child" she said matter of factly, blushing at the last part of her statement.
"Compared to me you are. Do you know how old I am?" Maan asked
"Twenty four or five?" Geet responded
"Twenty eight, Geet" Maan said gravely.
"Oh my God...Mein kya karu Ram mujhe budda mil gaya..." Geet started singing and giggling.
Maan sat there mesmerised by her antics.
"Maan, how does your age matter? For me a person matters, their attitude, their personality, not their age" Geet said honestly once she stopped singing and making fun of him.
"My age may not concern you now Geet, but later on it may" Maan said anxiously.
"Let us face that when and if it happens" Geet said holding his hand to calm him. "Anyway, women mature earlier than men. It is a known fact. So really I am about 30 years old"
"So, Geet you are saying that I got the buddhi..." Maan teased.
Geet responded by pushing him, but Maan held her waist as she did so, the net result being that they both ended on the floor, with Maan on top of Geet.
"Maaan" Geet moaned as she felt Maan's weight on top of her and his head near her neck. This had an arousing effect on Maan who started to nuzzle her neck and bite the skin tenderly. They would have continued like this, had Maan's phone not rung. Quickly they disengaged, while Maan answered his phone.
"Daadi. Good morning. What can I do for you today? Visit someone in Chandigarh this time?" Maan teased.
"Don't get fresh with me young Maan. Remember I used to change your nappies! And what do you mean by good morning? Do you realise you have poured water onto my plans? I had even picked out your children's names" Daadi whined
Maan slapped his head at Daadi's antics. "Nautanki" he thought. Geet watched him talking on the phone to his Daadi. "They share such a sweet relationship" she thought. "I hope she likes me too"
"Maan are you listening?" Daadi asked
"Yes, Daadi. I am listening to each and every word...nappies, plans, names..."
"MAAN!" Daadi screamed
"Daadi quietly, please. You will give Nakul a heart attack if you scream so loud," Maan said trying not to laugh.
"Maaan! Stop making fun, or I won't talk to ever again" Daadi pouted.
"Sorry Daadi."
"What was wrong with this girl? Huh? Maan you are not getting any younger you know and you cannot rely on your good looks forever."
"Daadi, did you meet her?"
"Well no, but my friend..."
"Did you see a photo?"
"Well not a recent one... why?
"She has had so much plastic surgery, that I am sure she will melt if the temperature rises above 30C!"
"Oh. Don't worry, I have another friend who..."
"Daadi. I promise that we will discuss my marriage when I return to Delhi tomorrow" he said turning to look at Geet. "Take care of your health, if not for yourself, but for me, Ok? See you tomorrow" he said switching off the phone.
Maan put his phone back in his pocket and walked towards Geet."You will like my Daadi...she likes chat pata food like you and she is a big nautanki like you too!"
Before she could hit him, he held her hands behind her back. "Geet you don't need to be a goonda all the time...beating up your poor defenceless husband when you don't like what he says" kissing her on her cheek, making her blush.
His phone rang again. He let go of Geet's hands and fished his phone out of his pocket. He looked at the number and turning to Geet, he said, "I better answer this. Why don't you freshen up, and we can continue our conversation over breakfast"
