PASSION
Geet wanted to move away, to increase the distance between their lips, but every muscle in her body froze with Maan's words. Yes..YES!! her heart screamed out the answer to his question, but her lips were unable to speak that one word out. But, the next minute, Maan's words ruined the moment yet again.
"Let me call Dev over. You can cook for him. After all, shaadi pe toh usske saath hi gayii thi, so you will enjoy his company more than you enjoy mine", he said, with a sneer, and turned away.
Geet's eyes filled up again, and she got off his bed, with a quick movement. The movement was too quick, and she ended up stumbling on her own bandage in no time at all. She held the railing of the bed for support, sucking in a breath of panic, as Maan turned around, and quickly grabbed her waist steading her.
"You don't need to show me your superwoman powers right now", he screamed out, as he looked at her foot in concern.
Geet pushed him away, and he was too stunned to react. She limped out of his room, crying in a soft voice, leaving a shocked Maan standing behind. Geet stumbled again, this time catching herself by clutching hold of the curtain outside Maan's room, but her tears flowed down incessantly. He stared at her limping retreating figure in surprise, and realized that she was angry. Angry on him for bringing up Dev. Maan smirked to himself, glad that the usual introvert and shy Geet could show so much anger and right on him. But, the smirk froze on his face, as soon as he saw Geet slipping down one of the stairs, her bandaged foot cutting itself on the sharp edge mercilessly. She yelped out in pain, and Maan rushed to her in the blink of an eye.
"GEET", he screamed out loudly, as she held the railing of the stairs for support, her eyes red from crying.
Geet stared down at her neatly bandaged wound, which was rapidly turning red in color. Maan slipped his hand on her shoulder, as he bent down to pick her up, but she pushed him away again, and got up with great dificulty. Maan stared at her, this time his anger taking over, as he saw her wound. Ek toh isse chot lagi hain, dard ho raha hain, aur mujhe uthane nahin de rahi hain' he thought in rage, his heart and arms aching to pick her up and craddle her close to him.
He tried to pick her up again when Geet put out her hand and said, "I'll manage." She got up and held the railing carefully, and put out her foot on the first stair. Maan jerked her back, and pulled her towards him ruthlessly, causing her to end up on his chest with a thud. Geet lowered her eyes quickly, and started moving away, as more tears oozed out of the corner of her eyes, when Maan picked her up roughly, and whispered in a dangerously calm voice, "Agar dobara mujhe roka, ya koshish bhi ki mujhe rokne ki, I will forget my limits, Geet."
Her teary eyes widened, as Maan squeezed his fingers extremely close to the side of her right breast, where he was holding her tightly, and stared deep into her eyes menacingly. She looked away in fear and nervousness, as he stared at her lips threateningly. He carried her back to his room quickly, and sat her down on the bed. She sat with her legs down on the floor, as Maan grabbed the first-aid box, and gently pulled her foot towards him. She tried to resist, but one look from Maan silenced all her attempts. Babaji, ek toh itni kadwi baatein karte hain, aur jab dard hota hain toh, yeh itne naram ho jaate hain'. She snapped her eyes up, as Maan pulled her up closer by her waist, one hand still on her foot.
He whispered, close to her ears, "Geet, I'm going to pull the bandage out. It's probably going to hurt a little, okay?"
Geet nodded her head, a little surprised by his sudden concern. She closed her eyes firmly, and held his shoulders tightly, as he pulled the bandage out in a swift movement. A cry escaped her lips, as her fresh wound was exposed to the open again. Maan put his finger on her lips, stopping her scream, and whispered, "Kuch nahin hoga, I won't hurt you."
Though every fibre in Geet wanted to contradict his words, somehow, his voice and eyes said something else. They were so genuinely trying to convince her that he will do anything but give her pain, that she closed her eyes, and surrendered herself to him. Maan stared at her face, feeling his urges stronger than ever. She always drives me crazy, and she does it so innocently'. He thought as he brought the cotton close to her worsened wound, and deliberated a moment, before applying it as gently as he could.
Geet screamed out, and then bit her lips, but the pain was excruciating. One look at her face, and Maan was sure she was in agony. He moved the cotton from the wound, as tears streamed down her cheeks. He glanced down at the wound angrily and helplessly. Suddenly, Maan pulled Geet closer by her waist, and kissed her forehead. She closed her eyes immediately, as he moved his lips down to her eyes, and then cheeks. He sucked the soft skin of her cheek, and dabbed the cotton into her wound again. A cry rose to her lips, but quickly died down, as Maan rubbed his rough stubble over the smooth and sensitive skin of her cheeks. He continued cleaning the wound, and felt the pained gasps of Geet being muffled by his assault on her skin, and mind.
"Chup, Geet. Bilkul chup", he whispered, kissing the corner of her mouth. 'I'm almost done"
His breath fell on her lips, as he outlined her beautiful lips by his soft kisses. Geet clutched hold of vest, her nails almost digging into his shoulders. The pain of the wound was way at the back of her mind now. And, it disappeared completely, as he kissed her nose, and whispered, "I won't bring that up again."
Geet looked at him, as he moved his face away from hers, and did up her bandage again this time even more tightly. He just said, that he won't bring Dev up again'she realized with a slight flutter in her heart. Mere ek zakhm se yeh itne acche ho gaye'toh Babaji, mujhe aap hamesha aise hi rakhna' she prayed childishly.
Her thoughts broke, as Maan picked her up in his arms again, and walked out of his room. She stared around, as he took her down the stairs, and said, in a low voice, "Aap mujhe kahaan lekar jaa rahe hain?"
"Tumhe kya lagta hain, ke main aaj saari raat sirf tumhari seva karunga? I'm hungry", he said, settling her down near the kitchen counter, and stationing himself just behind her.
She looked at him in utter confusion, as he crossed his arms over his chest, and said, "Stop staring at me, and cook something for dinner."
Kidhar acche hogaye Babaji? Aabhi toh kaha ke kahin mat jaana, aur abhi bol rahe hain ke khana banao? She thought, and then, decided that she should cook something for him. Office se aaye hain, he's tired, bhook toh lagi gi hi na?
Geet looked around for the lighter, and moved slightly, when Maan gripped her waist from behind, startling her.
"Don't move. Just tell me what you need", he gritted out.
"Toh khana kaise'" she was interrupted by him rudely, "Do you need to move to cook? Just tell me all you need and I'll get it. Tumhe hilne ki koi zaarorat nahin hain", he said, harshly.
Geet stood there quietly for sometime, when Maan barked, "God! Tell me what you need, Geet!"
Geet jumped in fear at the hint of impatience in his voice, and stammered, "Llliiggghhhter'.."
Maan looked around for it, and handed it to her.
" Make Pasta", he ordered, as he stood close behind her.
Geet felt her treacherous heartbeat pick up again, as she felt his firm back close to her one. Yeh aise mere piche khare rahenge, toh main khana kaise banaungi? She cribbed hopelessly to herself.
"I'm not moving an inch from here, Geet. So, stop hoping for impossible things, and get to cooking." He said, firmly, causing her to jump again.
Phirse? Inhe phirse pata chal gayaa ke mere mann mein kya hain'she thought with a hint of suspicion. The obivous never ocurred in her mind, that she was way too transparent.
She made him the pasta in 30 minutes, while he passed her the ingredients, utensils, and everything else she needed. Once done, he picked her up in his arms again, despite her protests, and carried her to the dining table. Settling her down on the chair, Maan went back to the kitchen to get the plates, spoons and glasses.
He served it to her first, before helping himself, and began gulping down the pasta as quickly as he could. Geet stared at him nervously, wanting to find out desperately, whether he liked it or not. Maan relished the pasta hungrily, deciding that it was the best thing he ever had. Looking up, he saw Geet staring at him, with mixed feelings on her face. He gulped down the pasta in his mouth, and said, "Don't you know, it's bad manners to stare at someone while eating?"
Geet quickly lowered her eyes, and started eating herself, her cheeks turning the familiar color of pink. Maan smirked hugely, and continued eating. Once, they were done, Geet got up to clear the dishes, when Maan came around and picked her up again. She tried to protest, saying, "Nahin, woh'I have to clean this'."
"Servants hain, they'll do it tomorrow", he bit out, and then, holding her close in his arms, he asked, "What do you want to do now?"
His words hit her in the stomach, and butterflies started rising in her gut yet again. Inke kehne ka kya matlab hain? She thought in sudden shyness, and nervousness, as Maan's alluring eyes never left hers. He stared at her, enjoying her plight, and started taking her up to his bedroom.
"Nahin'" she started saying, as Maan entered his bedroom, with her in his arms, "Aap yahaan'.kyun'kya karenge?"
He laid her down on the bed, and said, "When you want to sleep, let me know."
He walked out of the room, to get a glass of water, leaving Geet lying on his bed in confusion. She ran her hand on her sweaty forehead, thinking about the ridiculously high number of times he had picked her up, and laid her down on his bed that night. She was about to close her eyes, when something on his work desk caught her attention. Looking around her, she got up carefully, balancing her feet, and limped to the table. She stared at the tattered piece of thing with great concentration, when suddenly, it dawned on her painfully.
Geet picked up her damaged ear-ring and stared at it with teary eyes. Babaji, inhone isse aise tod diya? Aur main, main pata nahin kya kya soch rahi thi'isse accha hota, ke yeh kho jaati mujhse' She stared at the piece of the jewellery sadly, realizing the brutality with which Maan had broken it. She ran her hands over the distorted delicate patterns of her ear-ring, tears racing down her cheeks, when Maan's voice shouted from behind.
"Why the hell did you get up alone?"
Geet stood frozen near the table, her back to him, as he darted forwards towards her, and the ear-ring clutched tightly in her palm. He stood in front of her furiously, and yelled, "Meri baat nahin sunogi, toh aise hi dard hoga, and aise hi rona parega."
She didn't say a word, and inched away from him, limping slightly, her eyes still full of tears. Maan jerked her back towards him, his eyes full of rage, and bitterness, as she turned her face away from him.
"Kya nayaa natak laga ke rakkha hain?" he said, his patience running out.
Geet looked up into his eyes, still sobbing silently, and Maan found himself drowning into those silent complaining hazels. He looked at her big eyes, swollen with her tears, and her nose slightly turning red, and looked down to see her palms clutched tightly closed over something. He held her fisted palms, and opened them up in one swift motion, only to see the mangled ear-ring in her hand.
Maan looked away immediately, as he remembered the night he had broken it, out of sheer anger and desperation. Geet looked away too, sniffing slightly, and said, in a low voice, 'Thank you for everything. Aap so jayiye. Good Night."
She started leaving the room, the ear-ring still clutched tightly between her fingers, when Maan held her hand, and stopped her.
"Mat jao, Geet", he said quietly.
