CHAPTER 11
Soul meets its other half'
PAST
'Dude..lekar aana yaar! We are getting late' Maan screamed out to his friend who was standing at a liquor shop, buying beer.
'Just wait Maan; he has gone to get the stock. I mean who would be stocking 200 beers at the counter' Raghav screamed back.
'Dang! It's already late and I have a bloody reputation to keep...Maan may be late to anything but never to mid night parties!' he mused.
Bro, where are you?
A text message from Rosh interrupted Maan and his musings for a second before he started rambling again. Raghav screamed back from inside 'it will take 10 more minutes man...'
'Bloody country! Have to wait for everything! Including beer! Hell!' Maan grumbled again and got out of his BMW convertible, texting back to Rosh that he will be late...reputation gone for a toss! Humph!

'Here you go man...chal' said Raghav as he jogged back. People of that beer shop loaded boxes of beer cans into the trunk of the car and they started out to their party.
'Dude, why are you angry?' Raghav questioned tentatively looking at an annoyed Maan venting out his anger at the poor gear shift of his vehicle.
'What else should I do? Sing at the top of my voice? 30 minutes to get beer cans? What kind of place is this?' he snapped.
'Ghussa uss gear shift par kyun nikal rahe ho? Haat mein aa jaayega..' Raghav tried to lighten the mood.
'Toh tujhpe nikalu? I have no problem' Maan smirked as Raghav shut his mouth.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As they continued their drive to the farmhouse, they were interrupted by someone showing a lift sign. Maan slowed down his vehicle to see an old lady standing near the bus stop, asking them to stop their vehicle.
'Have you gone crazy dude? Gaadi kyun rokha?' asked an agitated Raghav.
'Wait a minute...' Maan replied and slid down the windows.
'Beta...madad chahiye thi..' the old lady requested as Raghav wacked his head in frustration.
'Kya hua?' asked Maan, raising his eyebrow.
'Woh bus chut gayi hai aur koi aur bus nahi hai ab...' she replied.
'Aapko lift chahiye?' Maan asked incredulously, mentally slapping himself for stopping the vehicle thinking it was someone else.
'Nahi mere liye nahi...woh...ek minute...' she muttered before screaming 'Neha! Neha! Idhar aa beti...gaddi mil gayi'
Maan sighed in frustration as Raghav chided 'tu kabse social service karne laga? Dimaag kharab hogaya hai tera?'
'Arre yaar, mistake kar liya...I saw a girl par patha nahi kaha se yeh budhdhi aagayi... mumbled Maan.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'Iss mein? Auntiji aapka dimaag toh theek hai na?' a voice interrupted Maan and Raghav out of their conversation and they turned to see a young girl standing near their vehicle, looking annoyed.
'Haan...iss mein kaun si badi problem hai? Ab tere ko koi aur gaadi nahi milegi...just go in this' the old woman explained.
'Auntiji, iss mein hum bondu ko kaise lejasakte hai? She will never come' she grumbled.
Maan was so annoyed to have wasted so much time and he snapped 'oye hello, agar baithna hai to baitho...mera time waste mat karo...'
'Mister, aap apne kaam se kaam rakhiye...jaayiye, we don't require your help!' she shouted.
'Ajeeb hai...ek toh pehle gaadi rokti ho aur phir mujh par hi chillati ho? Who the hell do you think you are?' Maan shouted back.
Just then, a bunch of kids came running outside supporting a girl whose eyes were blind folded. The girl smiled that her problem was solved and tentatively asked, 'kya aap hume lift desakte hai? I am sorry for screaming at you! woh main..'
Maan sat behind his steering wheel and drummed his fingers while Raghav was throwing steely gazes at him 'invitation dena hai? Baitho' he shouted at the girl, who quickly sat in the car and called the kids in.
'Thank you...' she muttered and they set off.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'Nehu, hum kiske gaadi mein jaa rahe hai? aur kaha jaa rahe hai?' the girl in the blind fold questioned.
'Bondu, don't worry, shareef logon ke gaadi mein jaa rahe hai. Kaha jaa rahe hai yeh tumhe baad main pata chalega...' she smiled at the kids who were sitting with their fingers on their lips, scared of breaking the surprise mistakenly.
Maan glanced at the girl who was blind folded, in the mirror. She seemed really beautiful. But clad in a salwar kameez made him realize that she was another typical middle class woman. Maan, isse tujhe kuch nahi milega beta...concentrate on your driving.
Once the girls were out of his car with their battalion, Raghav lashed out at him 'I have a bloody reputation to keep...yahi tha reputation keep up karne ka tareekha?'
Maan just clicked his tongue and resumed his driving while Raghav replied to Rosh's text message.

PRESENT
It was not a meeting that was something really special or something filmy where a heroine falls dramatically into the arms of her knight in shining armor.
It was just a casual meeting. So casual that it was, in fact, hard to believe that this girl had become so important to him in just a matter of few days.
He had never expected that this sir phiri ladki would become his life one day. He smiled and carried on with his journey to bring her back...
