Punar Vivah is a story of how cupid strikes in a marriage of convenience and not love

Gurmeet is the arrogant widower
When he made his debut on TV in Ramayan four years ago, most people told Gurmeet Chaudhary that his career was clipped. "I was told that doing a mythological serial was a big risk. I would get typecast and would never be able to come out of the image. But I broke the myth and proved everyone wrong," says Gurmeet who played a romantic lead in his second show, Geet Hui Sabse Parayi. In the serial, he plays a lively and mischievous guy who is always up to some prank. He is playing an intense, arrogant and embittered widower in his third shows, Punar Vivah.

After Geet Hui Sabe Parayi, Gurmeet wanted to take a six-month break. But that lasted only for 15 days. "When I heard the show's title I didn't have to think twice before saying yes. It is completely different from anything I have attempted on TV so far," he adds. Speaking about his role he says, "Yash doesn't want to get married but decides to for the sake of his two daughters. He doesn't want a wife, but wants a mother for his kids."

Turning the page to real life, Gurmeet says he is a sober guy and always listens to wife Debina. "She has the final say in everything. And I don't do anything without her permission. In fact, with Debina I am really like a kid."

Kratika looks forward to her role
After wielding the sword, charging on a horseback and fighting with unmatched zeal for her soil as Rani Laxmibai in her last show Jhansi Ki Rani six months back, Kratika Sengar makes a comeback to serials as a woman who hasn't lost her spunk, charm and positivity despite a painful divorce. "The idea of giving life a second chance and attempting to find happiness all over again is what appealed to me the most," says Kratika, hoping that viewers will respond as much positively to the character of Aarti in Punar Vivah as they did to her role of a warrior-queen in Jhansi Ki Rani.

"It is a big challenge for me because the serial is a normal story of relationships without any regular high drama," she confesses. Kratika is looking forward for good screen chemistry with Gurmeet. "He is a hot guy and has lot of female fan following. I am working hard to stand up to his fan's expectations," she admits.

Ask her when will the marriage of convenience turn into true love between the couple and Kratika says it all depends on ratings. "Every show starts with a concept and the real story takes shape depending on ratings," she reveals. However, whatever may be the outcome, Kratika is happy to be back in action after the much-needed six-month break. "I was completely cut off from my family while doing Jhansi Ki Rani as I used to live near the sets in Karjat. So I made use of my break to meet my family,"
