Chapter 5

Geet: Maan..So ur r Mr Maan…(she looked at him thinking about his name…) Atleast I com to know ..who r u ?

She put all his stuff in her Thaila….an again held glass havin Juice..so that Maan could hav lil bit of it.But he again rejected.

Rejected intentionally to show her..that he had something in his mind which he couldn't express or he was not able to understand what was going on around him..

Only he knew or his good knew... This is a fact. that What to do with a dead human..everybody knows.It is different thing every religion has its own customs to perform last ceremonies .But what about him .A likely Dead human…whose future hadn't b decided…He was on others pitty any one could do any thing.

He might hav done something good so that He had Geet on his side…She was doin everything for him without any reason..or there was any reason behind this…? But it was clear…till Maan had Geet….He had lif.

Geet wanted to say something to him.But there was no way..Even he was not in condition to read that which Geet could rite…which she couldn't speak...Both speechless creatures ….how they gonna overcome ..it wholly depended upon Geet first.

Geet heard some foot prints at the door.She looked back.Rano was there having food for Geet with her

Rano: Geet yeh le kush ka le..tumne kush nahi khaya hogga na…..( placing bag on table she said)

Geet looked at her.n showed juice glass to her that Maan was not taking it...

Rano: Geet mujhe lagta hai..isko kush samjh nahi aati ki iske aas paas kya ho raha hai…kya kismet hai…ek chamch (spoon) panni bhi naseeb main nahi …( she looked at him with pitty face )

Geet looked at her mother.placed glass on table n took her slate which was on same table..as she needed here many times to make nurse n doctor aware what she wanna say….

Geet(wrote): Maa !!! waqt kiss per kab baari padd jaye kisko patta..aap he kehti ho…per aapne yeh bhi sikhaya hai..burre waqt se ghabraana nahi chaahea..uske aagay kadde (to stand) ho janna cha-he-a …( She put it in front of Rano...who was waiting for ...Geet reaction on slate)

Rano read that..n her voice came to Geet's ears ..lik Rano wanna repeat ...what...She said to Geet many time same thing…

Rano: Per Geet iska ..is se kya connecton hai...? ( she pointed herf face toward Maan)

Geet took slate again

She wrote: Maa first of all his name is Maan..n second thing Maa ..I jst wanna say If he is in bad phase….Even he doesn't know ..he is in bad phase..then how he can face this phase….N what's wrong if we can help….( she gav her written reaction to Rano...with wide open eyes )

Rano: Ya we can help..but we hav to care about society..u know how much people r making wrong image of u !!! Even u r rite..n whats guaranty... He gonna allrite..n agar yeh..I mean Maan theek ho bhi gaye..kya tumhari kadar karegay….don't know…kab tak inke sath rahogi ( she put her one hand on waist holding slate n showed her reaction in high pitch )

Geet (wrote ): Maa I don't care what others think…N I m not helping him ..k yeh mera ehsaan mane…aur main inko apne ehsaan k neechay davaa k rakhu..kyo ? any reason n If I hav to help him for ever….I ll…coz I don't need to make u understand.( she snatched slate to write n give back to Rano in angry way )

Rano : Geet tum janti ho …agar yeh bimaar aise he rahhe….to kahan se paisa aayega…inke ilaaz k liye…tumne apni ring beech di ….agay ka kya beta…Tum inki care karogi..ja apni agay ki zindgi k baare bhi sochogi…ur job..ur whole lif..( she put her hand on Geet's shoulder )

Her motherly fears were genuine .

Geet: I hav decided wht to do ..Maa..per ek baar batayo..inko main shod du to kon inka khyal rakhga…. Municipality hospital…kahin aise he ek municipal hospital main saalon pehle kissi ki zindgi khatam ho gayi thi….fir bhi aap..( she was not able to complete sentence )

Rano: Wahi to Geet…mujhe inse hamdardi hai….yeh khud ko sambhal nahi sakte….hamare paas itna paisa nahi k hum inka ilaaz ek acche hospital main karra sakke…aur agar hum aisa kar bhi paaye..to kab takkk beta ( She had tears )

Geet: No Maa ..main Maan ko hospital main nahi chod rahi..I gonna tak him wth us.( her determination was clear now )

Rano : Geet tum pagal to nahi ho gayi…log inke sath tumhare yahan rehne per baatay kar rahhe hai…what if u ll take him with us ?

Geet: I don care Maa…its final I gonna take him wth me N one thing…take my chain.…hospital k dues clear ho jayegay ( she removed her chain )

Rano had no words now so …she said nothing.Took chain from her.Coz Geet was not gonna turn her decision.

Chapter 6

Next day Geet paid dues…Even Dr. Khanna helped in Maan's case…but there were some dues..which Geet had to clear…Sham n Leela was also wth Rano..when Geet asked Doctor to arrange ambulance for them. Maan was not taking food so drip was necessary for him…each n every third day…Geet learned how to do that.

Leela: Geet ek baar fir soch lo beta…u r doing rite ?

Geet nodded her head ...n held tightly Leela's hand..that She was rite..Within one hour ambulance siren…gav village people information of Maan Geet's arrivel.Village streets were narrow…so Ambulance could not b taken in front of Geet's house…so helpers within ambulance took Maan stretcher out

Passing by narrow village strees they were covering step by step distance to Geet's home.Lik those narrow streets..Thinking of people here ..had been turned very narrow n low…Those who loved n respected Geet ..now they were gossiping about her relation with this poor creature on Stretcher.But She had no effect

Before going to hospital Rano had made all arrangements for Maan . She knew her daughter was rite..as between those many eyes lookin at her ..she was moving with head up ..with self dignity …the feelin She was not wrong.

Within Her house there was less space but great space in hearts.She had asked her mother to arrange things in room for Maan… which was her few days back.There were no bed ..jst cots ..so Rano put two quilts instead of mattresses.

Helpers placed Maan on cot as any other thing around …People were peeping through open window.Which Sham closed.Geet put blanket on Maan.Within half n hour everybody left.Geet cared nothing about people outside talking about Maan..Talking about her.

Rano : Geet beta maine bazaar se kapda ( unstitched material) la kar Maan k liye sil( stitch ) diye hai..jis ka measurement humne hospital main liya tha.Aise he comfortable rahegay ( She handed few hand made dress of Maan)

Same Part

Rano n Geet arranged every thing lik Maan gonna b permanent third member of this family of two .Geet hugged her mother.But she knew what her mother was thinking..Befor society first thing was how they gonna survive.Even for Maan they need more...medicines...were most important.

Both ladies looked in each other's eyes.Lik some thing both were thinking but same.Geet left place took her slate n started to write

Geet (wrote): Don't worry Maa..we again hav to restart…n we ll…

Rano: Geet I know we can…u r a fighter…But what about Maan 😲….beta what about people…what about urself….Maan ka Privaar hoga..jisse wo pyar karte hongay or wo inse….one day …I hop..he ll overcome..or his family ll come to take him..what ll we do….But if it ll take long..itna lamba safar ho jaye k tumhare liye aagay jaana mushil ho jaye aur piche dekhna bhi…then wht beta..tumhari lif puri paddi hai….( she was afriad for what her daughter decided )

Geet : U also had same kind situation..when u left every thing behind for me….jst for me…U r still so young….But u jst think about me..Maa…so why not me..?

Rano : U r my daughter my blood…our situation was such ..but different….we had to restart..but society ko jawaab denna pade..yeh jaroori nahi tha ( she cleared things)

Geet: Maa..rishte kya hotay hai u know…per sirf khoon k ho yeh jaroori to nahi..n I don wanna mess wth u on this..

She left place…Went to room where Maan was …Looking at his face..She thought why she was doing so.. Hurting her mother.But now she couldn't move back.Rano was kitting outside n had not seen Geet from last one hour.When Geet came to her….She had a little beg in her hand.n Rano knew what was ther in that.

Rano : yeh gehne kyo nikal liye Geet…now what u gonna do…hop not what I can't bear.

Geet give that bag to Rano n brought her slate..where she wrote..She gonna sell them.As she needed money

Rano: Geet tu pagal ho gayi hai ( she busted )

Geet: No Maa I m not mad…but I had planned what to do..U know yesterday…leaving u wth Maan I visited my boss.

Rano: I know..than wht...?

Geet: I expained everything to them..n they asked me for help…n I gonna do work for them frm home…In gehno ko bay-ch kar kaffi paise aa jayegay..inse main ek computer…printer…aur ek scooty le lungi….baaki paise bank main daal daygay..( this was plan 😆 )

Rano: Geet mujhe samjh nahi aata tu keh kya rahhi hai...( really fed up)

Geet: Maa wo log mujhe..apne saara material mail karegay…jinko correct karke…unke documents banna k ..print karke bhej dungi unko…jisse se unka kaam kamm ho jayega…aur kai log bhi mujhe kaam denne ko maan gaye hai Rahul ne baat ki unse..jin takk main nahi pahunch sakti..unke documents prepare karke mail kar dungi..hamara kharcha aaraam se nikaal aayega..aur apka kaam bhi aab main karungi..dugna….kaam karegay..aur Maan k pass bhi reh sakugi….baas aab to kush ( she made childish expressions...n hugged )

Rano: Itna sab ek ajnabi k liye…

Geet: aab yeh ajnabi nahi…mere ghar k ho gaye hai…jab tak theek nahi hotay..mera farz hai inke sath rehna..inko maine he hospital tak lay ja kar help ki thi..aab kyo pichay htna…..aagay inki marzi aap yeh gahne bach dijiye….Sunaar se main to baat kar nahi paaungi…

Rano was thinking her daughter was so confident about her decision. Without thinking about future.But she had to b by her side n she would
