When she told him that she will not force her rights or make him remember anything and he was leaving , I felt he felt the ground slip under his feet. He felt a feeling of loss, detachment and something slipping from his hand.
His holding the door just added to this little bit.
Amazing acting and calculated moves well spaced reactions and dialogue. They give each other enough time to express themselves they don't rush scenes . I think that is the beauty of this show.

Nice post... Today's epi was really superb...
I really wanted to see such a scene where both Maan & Geet talk their heart out... so now they are completely aware of each others feelings...

@skg267-- oh please, I seriously need to be enlightened about that track.. you know, after reading you and Z on that rohtak track , I watched some scenes and seriously saw them like I had not before..

Actually I had wanted Geet to be a bit more serious in that one and for the Maahiis to kind of take it easy, so those epi's were watched in a hurry.. except for some truly good parts..

But again, that part was rushed and botched I felt.. it did have a lot more potential.. I had really wanted to see Maans grit and personality to take over completely.. for him to strive hard and achieve something in all his arrogance, and confidence.. he's a man who simply cannot loose, no.. just not made that way. I had wanted to see him smirk , and get impatient at people, and .. oh.. what not!😆

so yeh do tell about those parts😃

Aww.. so true.. you put it well.. I lived it all over again while reading your post... such a touching scene.. scripted, filmed, executed and performed perfectly without any over dramatization👏..

even the teary eye was executed to perfection.. the whole scene was so heart wrenching without having to watch the leads cry a bucket load.. just the shimmer of tears in their beautiful eyes made me choke up. Wow what amazing performance by both👏

Lovely post!

You know, while I was watching that stunning segment, I kept thinking that here's a guy who actually worships the girl standing before him and couldn't think of a life without her. But he doesn't know it.

I felt sorry that today he stood before her and told her that he couldn't feel a thing for her...and it was no fault of his. I Just felt a deep resounding sadness that he's not in a position to know what she actually means to him. The moment was so poignant and full of pathos.

Today was all about sheer courage and honesty from both of them.

On Maan's part it took a lot of courage to walk up to a girl who lives in hope of his love, kindness and caring and tell her with all honesty that though he might be married to her, he just cannot be what she wants him to be..it had to be the most difficult task for Maan to say something so painful to someone who yearns for him and hoping she'll understand.

And the courage on Geet's part to say what she did...to tell the love of your life that she would never live in expectation of his love and force his hand until he wants it himself and then telling herself that she'd wait a lifetime if it is required..knowing full the horrible odds that he might never recover his memory and the wait could be unending.

For the second time in the show the Cvs showed a very high level of maturity and sensitivity. the first was the Rohatk scene that we all agree on but that wasn't as impactful thanks to its brevity..though we got a dekko at what each one was made of.

And you are right. Today's scene is a rarity on TV and with it, the cvs have raised their own bar and now will have to live up to it.

I hope they don't squander it away..they've known to have done that before.

Yes dear, you are so right - the Maan and Geet we loved are back again - and so are some die hard fans of the show who stuck through all phases , but missed the priginal chracter of the Maan and Geet they had started out with , the Maan and Geet that no one can remove from their hearts ...

I have always watched the show , but half heartely in between , as if out of loyalty or hope ...but of late, especially the last few episodes have brought back to life the original Maan and Geet that I loved .

And I see that the old director "Maan Singh" is also back on the credits ...so it IS that particular set of CV's who give THAT particular feel to a show ..

Anyways, what matters is that original Maan Singh Khurana , with his stature and grace and the original Geet , with dignity and immense beauty and character , are back ...and boy ,am I glad to have them again in my life !

@ninand: I don't think you know how happy you just made me! I love talking about the Rohtak track so prepare yourself for a lengthy spiel!

First of all, I believe that even though it wasn't well-articulated with clear dialogue, Maan and Geet's relationship post-marriage followed a very clear path. It was all about Maan being in control, in the name of protecting and making Geet happy of course, and Geet sometimes trying to assert her own independence, mostly through humour, but failing miserably.

So after marriage Maan proceeded to make all decisions regarding their relationship solo, and since most of the time it came off as romantic we fans never really took notice. He decided to stay away from her because of the pregnancy without telling her, he did up the baby room without telling her, he decided to strip the baby room without talking to her after MC and finally he decided that she could never forgive Dev, which is why it became such a big deal when she "went against him" and did.

So the Amritsar track happened and even though people say that Maan's character was butchered during Amritsar, I say it developed. He learned to control his anger in the name of maintaining relationships, an important lesson, given the consequences (for all of us!) of his last uncontrolled outburst!

I hated when he bought Beeji's house. It was another decision he took without telling Geet and one that reflected his need to "rescue" her when she explicitly told him she wanted to handle the situation on her own, because she couldn't watch him being insulted. It was like he didn't trust her to sort things out for herself, even though she explicitly told him she could.

He finally learned his lesson when he realised he couldn't win over her family by beating them in the arrogance game and had to succumb to her plan, this was the first step towards the Rohtak track.

Yep, this was just the prologue! 😆

A big part of why Maan could be this huge rescuer was his wealth so when his wealth and livelihood was taken away by Pammi, it was a great equaliser for Maaneet's relationship. I loved the conversation they had outside the hospital, where she asks him why he gave it all up. That was a mature conversation that became a precursor for what was to come.

I loved that they had a house and the history behind it. I loved the idea of Maan going back to his grandfather's humble roots to begin his life again. Here he became vulnerable and it was Geet's chance to rescue him. That is why this track held so much promise for me: the idea of both partners working equally to support themselves.

Maan seemed against this idea, because according to me he is a pretty traditional guy, and allowing Geet to work, especially in a time of need would have been a display of weakness, admitting that he could not provide for her. This is why he does mazdoori. He is willing to demean himself as long as he can prove his ability to provide for his wife. I understood that he wanted to protect her from things but he underestimated her emotional strength and that is where the episode we were talking about earlier comes in. Geet understands without words, the pain and insecurity he is going through and puts all his fears to rest without him saying a word. He is worried that she will stop smiling if he tells her he didn't get the project but not only does she smile, she makes him smile with her. It is at this moment that he lets Geet in completely, telling her that he needs her. He sees her as a partner, a companion as opposed to a responsibility he has to take care of. This was the most important thing I had wanted to see in the relationship for a long time.

I also loved Geet's unique career-choice during the track, that is teaching the village children. At first when they introduced the idea, I thought oh no, she is going to become a trophy wife with her cooking and her charity but they pleasantly surprised me when she got approval from the village-head and he even promised her a salary. It made her work real and legitimate and resulted in a fascinating role-reversal. Now Maan was "masterniji's mister" rather than Geet being that lucky girl who married Maan Singh Khurana. i loved seeing Geet appreciated in her own right for her many virtues and Maan being offered a helping hand on her influence! This was again, a big equaliser.

I was super-excited for the proposed "Saathiya" track as it held tons of potential. They were going to live together, in the house but grow distant because of their financial worries and the idea of Geet working (as we saw in the great promo that never came to fruit). This would have caused adorable, petty, day-to-day fights and very romantic nights, given they were all alone in the small intimate house. I would have loved if Maan took the clerk job, they offered, just to keep them afloat and because Pammi continued to sabotage his efforts to rebuild a business and they lived the life of a real-life, young couple. I would have also loved to see MSK's principles stand the test of adversity. It is easy to be principled when everything is always your way, but what if it isn't?

Then finally, after many a tiff and thereby reaching of a higher understanding, he could have come out with something like he dialogue he said before the ML happened. For someone who had this many hopes of the track, you can imagine how the ML promo hit me like a ton of bricks out of the blue! I was quite traumatised for a while there. I was also not for it initially, because it erased all of Maan's lovely character development, which I happened to love watching.

Even though I have made my peace with ML, thanks to some truly wonderful direction, acting and the CVs taking it the most sensitive and logical route for such a track, I still think the Rohtak track could have carried the show for months. It was unique and out of the box (a young couple, both working and building a life together against all odds), suited the characters perfectly, had so many potential directions where the Maaneet relationship was concerned and most of all, it had long-term potential as an over-arching plot where sub-plots could be introduced. That is what the show needed after marriage and I was very hopeful on this front.

FINALLY, two slightly less serious reasons I loved the Rohtak track were because of the clothes she wore during it, I loved those outfits, and I don't know why they took them away after just 2 weeks, especially since they showed a few she never wore in an SBB/S segment at the time. And secondly, the set of Dadaji's house. I thought it was adorable and had the feel of the old Khurana Mansion about it.

So there you have it! I hope I didn't bore you too much! 😃

Yes dear your right this is Maan, Geet who we love and their love that we adore. And nice post dear on the scene which me and everyone loved and cried over. This scene was so powerful and so meaningfull. I just loved it Abd felt heavy hearted. GC and DD brought the emotion so well that it looked so reall. When I see them onscreen I can only see Maan and Geet not GC and DD. Love them both, hope Abd pray that Geet doesn't end any soon! And thanks for the nice post dear =] x

@ninand..
@skg267..
@pippa..

love all of your in depth analysis about Maan and Geet's characters.. it kind of fills in all the blanks that the CVS can't show or put forth in a 30 min episode..

There is something that has been nagging me since the ML started... why do you guys think the CVS have not yet made Maan show some curiosity about his marriage to Geet.. they haven't yet shown him asking how he ended up marrying someone he just knew for a short time, and who she was and how they paths crossed?...
Is it because Maan was bogged down with this unexpected relationship that he felt was being pushed on him? Now that he is been given breathing room by Geet will he be showing some curiosity and try to explore those questions??

What is your take guys... would love to read your different ideas... thnx

First up- let me seriously swear , why does IF not have a 'Love' button.. I freaking LOVED this post!!

First of all, I believe that even though it wasn't well-articulated with clear dialogue, Maan and Geet's relationship post-marriage followed a very clear path. It was all about Maan being in control, in the name of protecting and making Geet happy of course, and Geet sometimes trying to assert her own independence, mostly through humour, but failing miserably.

agree completely.. and though we have always wanted for Geet to be independent theirs one very crucial point we missed- Geet is an not ambitious character. She was forced to work just because of the child and cuz she was left to fend for them alone, .. her character may argue when Maan/Daadi tease about being home bound, but that's because she would not want to be held down by a gender bias.

even though I still fret over why she turned a house wife, I understand that she's being shown true to her character.

I agree completely with you. We may not want a joking jovial Maan, but that is exactly how Maan Singh Khurana completely in love with his desi wife would behave..

Yep, that was another one of his learning phase, quite a sharp stroke by the CVs actually there..

He finally learned his lesson when he realised he couldn't win over her family by beating them in the arrogance game and had to succumb to her plan, this was the first step towards the Rohtak track, when he accepted that he couldn't win her family on his own.

Yep, this was just the prologue! 😆

I loved the conversation they had outside the hospital, where she asks him why he gave it all up. That was a mature conversation that became a precursor for what was to come.

I cant tell you again how much I agree.. In fact, in all the tracks before marriage I really used to look out for places where the incredible yet inconspicuous difference between them would be delineated by actually bridging that gap.. they had done it a couple of times- once when Maan did not want to listen to her entire pregnancy truth..
and the other when he forcibly danced with her..
but yes, this was a superb one.

I loved that they had a house and the history behind it. I loved the idea of Maan going back to his grandfather's humble roots to begin his life again. God How i loved it! I had not expected this history at all!! It had so added to the dignity of the Khurana heritage.

Here he became vulnerable and it was Geet's chance to rescue him. That is why this track held so much promise for me: the idea of both partners working equally to support themselves.

Maan seemed against this idea, because according to me he is a pretty traditional guy,

Oh my god yess!! someone understands!! Hes an amazingly traditional guy, in fact conservative in many regards!

and allowing Geet to work, especially in a time of need would have been a display of weakness, admitting that he could not provide for her. This is why he does mazdoori. He is willing to demean himself as long as he can prove his ability to provide for his wife. very good point. me too!

Exacly the reason I used to get angry on Maan when he used to admonish Geet in the beginning.. Even I had been looking forward to see how overcame such things.. When someone reaches such a stature as him, the instinct to fight and win is ingrained in them.. that is how they win.. and that is what I had wanted to see.. how his natural aggression and determination paved a way for the future

Then finally, after many a tiff and thereby reaching of a higher understanding, he could have come out with something like he dialogue he said before the ML happened. oh that was seriously one track with such possibilities! and you re so right-they could have introduced a dozen new legit characters and twists , as he struggled with his start-ups(born leader cant follow for long😉)

FINALLY, two slightly less serious reasons I loved the Rohtak track were because of the clothes she wore during it, I loved those outfits, and I don't know why they took them away after just 2 weeks, especially since they showed a few she never wore in an SBB/S segment at the time. So there you have it! I hope I didn't bore you too much! 😃

Hell No! I loved reading every word and agree with every analysis of yours! Very insightful! and very well written too.. umm.. its very rude and ungratious of me actually but I often can't read long posts, just skim thru 'em😕.. sheer laziness I tell you(yeh, and write epics on my turn, 😳 how arrogant). but this was one damn interesting read! heck I actually read it twice😆.. if not more.

Its actually making me go back and check those scenes out right now! also, you should post more often. It would be fun to read it.
