We have always talked about the actors and the creatives behind them...they have been criticized..acclaimed...appreciated...depreciated...but in a successful story...the setting is equally important....its contribution is unrivalled too....so lets take a walk....a walk down the memory lane...
Hoshiarpur Set (Geet's ancestral home)- The opening scene....the inital sequences..needless to say a lot depends on it....coz if it fails to impress .....the show does not become a show stopper....It was such a crucial part of the story....coz it introduced us to Geet...the homely timid small town girl...who was ruled by an iron fist and handy hammer by her ultra conservative family...we sympathised with her...and suddenly..shockingly..in the blink of an eye...her whole world came crashing down....
This set was the most dramatic....it made Geet the hero...coz thats where the battle started...thats where her fight for justice...against social evils..started....this in short was the foundation on which the whole show was build....
With the exit of this set...Geet's childhood, her family, her sheltered innocence....was gone too....
Khurana Constructions.....With this set..the show veered in a totally different direction...it brought a lot of excitement as it was Geet's coming out...the place where she found her feet..learned to stand tall....battle it out with the world...
But the most important...this was the meeting place of our Maaneet....yes they had met before ...but the starting point of the romance was this set....this is where we were introduced to MSK..the master....the manipulator...the man....he ruled and how!! not only the staff...but the hearts and minds of thousands of viewers....
Still and will always remember the entry of MSK... the elevators....the glass canbins....adjacent to each other...the offices that spelt power..and the zillion times when....MSK....furious...Geet apologetic but with spirit...both of them giving as good as it gets...MSK furiously walking to the cabin next door..bracing himself for the next disaster...the vertical blinds...through which they peeked...the intercoms....the ever existant files....the war of the roses...and in the midst of this...the troublesome twins Sasha and Tasha and the endearing Adi sir and sweetheart Pinky...
The conference room...where the all the fun happened...and where the showdown too eventually took place.....
This set is actually where their love blossomed....it is one of my favorites...and with its exit...went the flavor of contemporary urban romance....
The Outhouse....wow love this set....with it comes the clash of the titans....their unforgettable fights...the fluffy blanket...the four poster bed...some of the best scenes took place in this bedroom..the passage and stairs through which MSK dragged Geet...to throw her out...the windows through which she returned....the mirror....the kitchen...where she accused him of stealing her potatoes...and he cooked pasta...the main room..where the office was shifted...the rack of files...where MSK cornered Geet and opened her hair to take out the confetti....i can go on and on..finally Geet's mayka...the place from where she eventually became Mrs. MSK....
with this set...it seems the fun element in Maaneet's romance exited...the most interesting phase of any relationship...the courtship period...ended...
The Khurana Mansion....and it should have been named a palace....it was royal and regal...this set stood for everything MSK was....grand...impressive...royal....powerful...the King...the curving staricase...which he swifly ran down from....and imvariably bumped into Geetđ...the staircase where he held her and stopped her from falling..the passage where he removed her jewellery...the kitchen where he cooked for her...the aangan where he did his HO Ha..and Geet peeked...the swing where he put the ring on her finger and the dining room...food was served with a pinch of mischief and romance at its best.....even the bathroom..where she tried to seduce him with the red dress and almost died....and his bedroom....wow...what has that room shown us...he trying to make her confess....towel draped...he bringing her almost unconscious...MSK furious but still at his tender best....and the blue n grey comforter.....Teji stole it...everything...
This set was home.....Maan's domain and Geet's future....this represented the man ...the home where he was going to bring his bride....but ironically right after their marriage...this set disappeared...and the homecoming was never felt...Geet never did reach home...with this set....something changed irrevocably....this brought the spiralling down trend...our dissatisfaction appeared as this set disappeared...
Phew...too looong..plz forgive me...my point..these sets where the life of Geet....with each and every one of them....we lost a piece of Maaneet...
Can we have them back...sometime...in the future...plzz cvs!!
