People have their preferences. Why is not preferring kissing scenes equal to being conservative? Every place has its norms, you don't NEED to change unless your way of thoughts are a harm to the society. And im sure having a preference over the type of stuff one wants to watch on TV has nothing to do with being conservative.

Listen I'm not saying that its wrong to not want to watch intimate scenes...but usually when someone is uncomfortable with pda then conservatism is usually the cause behind it...this isn't some unwritten rule, but yeaa most indian families are conservative when it comes to things like kissing and sex
How about just admitting the difference in culture and norms of different regions that makes people comfortable or uncomfortable to few things? You can't judge one region by another's view point. There's nothing conservative about not wanting to watch kissing or love making scenes on TV. It's just a norm in desi-land.

Norms can change and so can the influence of culture...if movies like kurbaan and kites can show full blown sex scenes..which are watched by desi families, then why can't a simple kiss be shown on television? If norms don't seem to have an influence on the movies being produced or the audience that watches those movies, then why is the indian censor board so adamant on not showing intimate scenes? I find it hypocritical to show it in movies and not on television...especially since both mediums have the same audience! Where are the norms and cultural differences in this case...why are they stronger for television and not the big screen?
Agree with you on the censor board part. My opinion was about you calling anyone with a different set of norms 'conservative'.
Like someone mentioned above, kissing is not publicly done in India and that is just a cultural difference. Being from a western country we can see the difference, here it is publicly shown and so showing it on tv is not a big deal but in India it is a big deal because it is considered a very private/intimate thing that is only for the two involved. Indian viewers don't think that it is necessary, scenes are intimate and romantic enough without kisses and today was a prime example of that.
