I hated this poem ever since the first time I heard it. Sanskrit was my second language in school. The feminist in me cringed every time I heard this shloka from a young age (yeah my parents gave me a lot of freedom especially my dad so I had progressive views very young 😆 😆 😆) . This is my response to all those who were upset with today's episode. They levelled charges that Maan was treating Geet with fatherly kisses. Here is my question. Why are there no criteria like this for men. If there were there would be a line saying that a man should protect and cherish his wife like a father cherishes his daughter or something 🤣 then I could have used that poem instead of this one 😡. 🤣 🤣 🤣
Seriously people what did you expect that he would just jump on her now that she was unofficially married. The man loves her for God sakes. He thinks the world of her and wants to protect her and keep her safe. 😳 .......even from himself if necessary.....that is how much her loves her 😳
Geet and Maan's relationship is not a normal one.....there are so many facets to it......it is far far more complicated and complex. I am going to try and summarize if in a poem
A small gist of this highly complicated relation
Maan is Geet's biggest source of inspiration
He is her teacher - the one who taught her to fight
against all odds for her and her child's right
He taught her not to worry about what people say
On the path of what is right she must always stay
He taught her to carry on the fight come what may
To never give up because of barriers along the way
Unwillingly and unwittingly he became her savior
He became her protector and her sole anchor
Of her universe he is the center
Between her and the world he is the buffer
She loves him deeply and has told him so
But she has been hurt time and again- this wounded doe
Her sense of worth and feeling of security he must first restore
and convince her that her past can hurt her no more
She has been through so much in such a short time
She is going to cling to him like a life line
She needs comfort and unconditional love
This Maan on her will gladly bestow
She is dealing with so many problems - none of her own creation
A physical relationship would be an added complication
Especially given the delicacy of her mental situation
Geet is confused and fears Maan might have some expectation
Maan's actions today were of a man concerned for his beloved
His main criterion was to make her feel secure and loved
He talked to her, explained his actions and allayed her fears
He comforted her, hugged her and wiped her tears.
He married her so that he could keep her with him for eternity bound
He made her understand that his reasons were sound
He makes her feel protected, loved and cherished
Putting aside his needs he will ensure her soul is nourished
I loved today's episode. It was a sweet romantic one with Maan taking care of Geet. 😳 He needs to do more of that. I love it when he takes care of her like that probably because it shows his softer side.
He proved that he loves Geet once again by taking care of her tenderly when she needed it the most. He understands that she is overwrought by all that has transpired during the course of the day and needs to unwind. But at the same time he also knows that he cannot let her out of his sight with NT around and so he brings her to the outhouse. This shows how seriously he takes the threats NT made and also that the fact of the matter is that he cannot bear to let Geet out of his sight. 😆 😆 😆
She feels dizzy so he picks her up and carries her inside. 😳. He tells her to forget about her past because there will only be happiness in the future. Once inside he comes in to find her sitting in a trance and the dialogues that followed were so touching with Geet claiming to know that he married her to save her from gossip and protect her. She is worried that he is risking his reputation to save hers. She is also upset that he is not thinking of himself but only about her. This shows the depth of her love for him - she does not want any harm to come to him or his reputation because of her. 😳😳
Maan makes her sit on the bed and puts his hands on either side of her literally cocooning her within in arms. Watch Geet's uncertain expression because she is unsure of his expectations. She is very confused and you can clearly see the vulnerability on her face. Maan understands this and his expression throughout is one of indulgence as he patiently explains his reasons for marrying her. He does so lovingly and sweetly in a low voice so that he does not spook her. He handles her like one would handle a nervous filly 😆 😆 😆. I loved GC's expressions throughout and his voice modulation. Hats off to you 👏 👏 👏 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ....you were beyond fabulous in that scene. 👏 👏 👏
Maan explains that she got one thing right - the fact that she was his zindagi. He tells her that he married her not because of altruistic motives but for his own selfish interests and his own happiness. He assures her that he is still her "Dusht Danav" 😆. I loved this line because it symbolizes the past they share and how far they have come. 😆 I love it every time he calls himself that and acknowledges to her that he behaves in a manner befitting that name 🤣. Also to be noted only she is allowed to call him names woe betide anyone else who tries to do that 😈......I do not think anyone else would even dare try 🤣.....unless they had a death wish 🤣.
He further mentions that he did not want to spend his life alone and that he has a lot of hopes and not only for this janam but for all the others also to come. Oye pehle ye janam ka toh dekh le 😆 😆 😆. But my favorite line was "Pehle tum meri aadat thi ab tum meri zaroorat bann gaye ho" ☺️ ☺️ ☺️ so eloquently put. Barry Dhillon you rock ⭐️. It ends with Geet realizing why Maan did what he did and understanding him. I loved this scene the best. Thanks for this scene. The icing on the cake was the spontaneous bone-crushing hug Geet gives Maan. This is the first time we are seeing this spontaneity from her. She is becoming very comfortable with Maan and is getting used to hugging and touching him. So far only Maan was the one taking liberties now maybe she will take some too 😆 😆 😆. Notice how she is constantly touching him even after the hug ends.....this shows that she does not want to let him go....something she would never have dreamed of doing before. 😉
DDs perrformance during this whole scene was simply superb. A round of applause for her ⭐️ .....people watch and learn in you wanna go into acting or even if you are an actor. No OTT crying here. Instead we got a subtle, powerful and superlative performance. She conveyed the emotions of grief, unhappiness, concern, understanding and finally acceptance so well and that too without saying a word. That is the brilliance of DD. 👏 👏 👏
Then Maan tries to leave to give Geet some privacy to change because he knows that sleeping in what she is wearing is going to be uncomfortable. This shows what a perfect gentleman he is ☺️. But Geet is in no mood to let him leave. She catches hold of his finger like a small child attempting to stop a parent from leaving. She has been rejected and her trust broken so many times that at this point she wants him near her. Everyone she trusted has broken her trust including Maan. Geet remembers this and is unwilling to let go of Maan. DD portrayed the insecurity, the fear and the vulnerability so well that it took me a while to put a finger on all the emotions she was portraying. Beautifully done. 👏 👏 👏
Maan reassures her that he is going nowhere and she still is scared. He recognizes her fear that she will lose him because he might walk away and sits down next to her. He attempts to make her more comfortable by taking off her jewellery and Geet at this point is watching him. Notice her eyes - they speak volumes. She is unsure of his intentions and is also a little scared of his expectations especially when he removes the duppata. But all Maan does is cover her up and sit down next to her. He tells her to close her eyes and sleep and assures her that he will not leave. He knows from prior experience (when she was sick after she told him she was pregnant) that to her he represents safety and security and as long as he is with her, she will sleep soundly. So the episode ends with him watching her sleep.
This was a beautiful episode and after a long long time I felt like I was watching Geet. My sister commented the same. She was wondering where the 20 minutes went.
Now for the Deveera scenes - PC rocked as usual and AS was actually better than usual 😆 😆 😆. Dev better do something useful in life like maybe call up daadi and convince her that the marriage is a good idea. He seemed genuinely happy for Geet and Maan. Please keep Dev around. I enjoy the loser as long as he is not trying to be too contrite because AS cannot pull that expression off. I also hope that Dev will graduate from being a loser some time in the near future. 😆 😆 😆
Now the episode was not without its share of bloopers
1) How did Meera find out about the maang bharoing thing? 😡 Did Maan call her or maybe NT? 🤣 🤣 🤣
2) EDITING TEAM - sleeping on the job as usual. 😡 There were jhumkas one second and missing the next. Watch out. But you performed better than usual.
