kk...first and foremost it does not matter...regions and religions should not divide....having said that....
Drashti..the name itself is a sheer gujju name...we have tons of drashtis and dharnis in our midst...never heard of a panju named drashti...and i have been brought up in Delhi...so do know something about punju first names....
About dhami...yup there are punjus with Dham..and DhaMMi...last names...but there are plenty of dhamis in gujju community too...i am one.
Two years back in one of her interviews, while working for DMG..drashti clearly stated that because of her Muskaan Chadha role ppl actaully thought that she was a punjabi...she clearly stated that she is a gujju and not a punju....if i can find the link...i will post it...
Last but not the least ..if u have watched last week's sbs..where she is with her family...her grandma ..nani is actually wearing a gujju sadi with ulta palla...never seen a punju buzurg lady in one....
And if you have checked out her offscreen pix..there are her brother's wedding pix..wherein in one shot...the marriage is taking place in gujju style...the bride...(suhasi of yahan mein ghar ghar kheli is also gujju btw) is also wearing the gujju bride outfit...white panetar with red border...and the sankheda chairs are used in gujju weddings....
And the most important fact....me and drashti have a common friend...u can see her in a lot of pix..and she is also a telly actress....and so i know that drashti is a gujju....phew...hope this helps....
Frankly does not matter at all...i kinda like it if being a non panju she portrays one soo well that it leads to this confusion...it says a lot about unity in diversity right!!!
