So DMG forum - i think - was the first one to alienate its FF's and VM's from its main forum page - and because at that time DMG happened to be almost 'the only' epic show airing, it didn't afect the TRPs of FFs (i know this from personal experience) that much ...
Now days however, FF is not an easy place to navigate through! There are links and all, but people keep posting fictions and never get their threads registered or categorized... and even though new sorting out solution threads keep coming up - like recommendations and latest FF threads, or even update thread (which was once opened so any/every writer could just post on it about having updated instead of sending a zillion pms) things remain complicated... any new writer, writing for something even as popular as Geet or AR or other shows can easily get lost within the pages... thats, as i know from having seen the changes creep into FF section with the coming of first DMG and then MJHT...
there is also the convenience of My Posts thread, which sort of keeps many many people away from browsing a forum like FF as such... while on the main Geet forum, people are bound to come for discussions and end up finding out popular or new FFs, on FF forum, majority have long resorted to following authors they know about, or occasionally giving a chance to someone new who pms and insists ... not effective, IMO
i'm sure its immensely tedious to manage the creations stuff
and the discussions on the thread, but, erm ... isn't there a possibility of say, dedicating the chores of one active DT member, solely to the sorting of FFs and VMs on the thread? as in, a dividing of duties on the DT (possibly by rotation of weeks if no one member feels keen to o the messy stuff 😆) because that way, even the DT could be less burdened, with having a distinct allocation of tasks, and the FFs Vms could still sort of avoid being exiled from their home base 😆
so, when i say manage FFs, Vms, i mean sort of have active (
very active) ledger keeping with new/old/complete/in progress FFs (and parallel ways for VMs) ... i know when the ex-mod of FF section, Madiha, whipped some heavily active new threads they were extremely effective for a long time, until that is, that the FF ended up being left with a single mod (Rabia) and its obviously too much work for one mod to keep every thread running
and active ... she's done well, its just kinda never enough ...
long long note - then again, its you reading nibbles so err 😆 hope it helps...
cheers,
nj
