The show trying to subvert the social relevance of marriage
What I meant was
Since the beginning of he show
Dev-Geet- the sanctity of marriage was done away with as it was a purely business deal.
IT was a FAKE marriage..and not legally counted
BUT he slept with her.
What does it say about marriage?
That even the label of being a married woman cannot save a woman if her husband abandons her after using her.
HEr child is to be killed, along with her- because the honor of a family has to be kept intact.
What is happening here? I thought MARRIAGE is one of the most auspicious social institutions?
IT couldn't save Geet's life. Or her child's.
But there A man comes in. A stranger who has merely been meeting her time and again to show her that her identity has to be defined not by others but by herself, not by social mores and relationships, but by what she thinks of herself and her relation with her self.
Maan and Geet fall in love.
They are not married and yet their unsaid relationship is deep..Deeper than the label of 'MARRIAGE' given to Dev and Geet
They are doing all that is considered to be important for life-partners to do(acc to Doodle and Gou di, and others)
WITHOUT being socially or legally bound to do it.
LOVE is greater than the social institution of marriage..but has love been socialized by marriage?
I am not saying the CV's have all this in mind or are trying to reduce the sanctity of marriage in any way..but are they subtly critiquing it?
haha,, if they aren't ..I am..through the show as evidence..
