An unpopular opinion, but Geet was in the wrong

Hello fellow Maanetians

so, this is likely to be an unpopular opinion, and I'd like to preface my statement by saying that I am ABSOLUTELY again violence against women, and after the first hand-twisting episode, I posted in many places including the Geet FB saying that Maan should never manhandle Geet, EVER
However, I do feel that in this instance, Geet was in the wrong and actually what Maan SAID (not what he did-- the physical intimidation was still wrong)-- what Maan said was actually CORRECT-- in that moment, Geet WAS trying to "hamdardi ka faida uthao".
She actually comes across as the typical calculating female-- realising that Maan cannot bear her pain, she makes a conscious decision to make use of that and get him on her side to let her stay in the house.
It's not an unreasonable thing to do, but I have to admit that it was calculating-- perhaps Geet is truly so innocent that she didn't realise how it might seem from the outside........but just imagine how it were to look if we didn't know them. There's the girl, just having made the man feel guilty, and then standing and smiling to herself.............OF COURSE he goes ballistic.
Now obvously, he went over the top, with the physicality of it all, but to be fair-- his words were not unexpected not were they necessarily wrong.
We've all been saying it-- she has come across slightly desperate to stay in THAT HOUSE with HIM-- he has to think to himself-- WHY?? and when you put in this past experience with Sameera (whoever she is, mother or ex-GF), and the fact that he hates Naintara, probably for a similar reason, (and if I were to really speculate, who knows why Vicky went missing, was Sameera involved, or is there another woman involved there??)-- well Geet was just aiming for a fall.
She's not perfect, is our Geet, and thats refreshing, and reassuring-- I'm sick of Tulsi and Parvati and Bandini- it's nice to see a girl who has some flaws.
Let me reiterate-- I in IN NO WAY condone and violence, and I do think that Maan went OTT.
One question for the forum-- why did Geet grasp Maan's shirt, when he had pulled her soooooo close-- the director made a real point of showing her hand FISTING into his shirt-- like she wanted to get even closer.......whats going on there???????

yeah i also felt the same thing when i was watching..technically she was trying to take advantage of him at that point, but not for the same reason that maan yells at her for....but dont think he should have physically hurt her that much.
and as for geet holding maan's shirt..im not sure what that was all about. but i agree with jia - it really looked like maan was going to kiss her or something lol

i agree, but there was no need for maan to pull her hair! That was a bit too much, but other than I agree! Also love the point you made about how Geet isn't perfect like tulsi or parvati! geet is an everyday girl who makes mistakes and learns from them, I was so proud of her when she realized her mistake...she's so relateable...love her!!

Yes, the hair pulling was a bit too much so was the push at the end..
Although its true that Geet did mistakenly play with maan's feelings we all know it was out of pure innocence 😊

Don't get me wrong...but I felt as if Maan wanted to murder Geet at that moment by twisting her neck... watch it for yourself you'll find out...and later Geet's reaction. She was actually feeling her neck.

And then Geet wanted to take the advantage..that I didn't like....with a broad minded and steeled mentality like her, she should not have done that. No doubt Maan went ballistic.

One more thing wanted to tell ya that I think I got the missing link...when Maan and Dadi confrontation happened, she said its not Maan's fault and Sameera's.

If am not wrong then I think Sameera did leave her child for a better life but here Maan will see Geet left her world, her home for her child.

Somewhere both the bases are linked. So that the comparison can be easier.

We just need to wait and watch who Sameera is. Maan's Mom or ex.

You've raised a valid point........if you see it from Maan's point of view & keeping in mind his past experience he was justified in thinking the worst of Geet. At that moment he only saw Geet taking advantage of him & playing with his emotions....and therefore just lost it.

Having said that i found Maan's behavior inappropriate because whatever his past experiences may have been he knows Geet. They've spent so much time together so its fair to say that he knows what she's capable of & what she's not. When he had accused Geet of using him in Hoshiarpur.....that was justified because he barely knew here then but now after coming such a long way its unfair of him to doubt Geet's intentions. Agreed Geet was behaving uncharacteristically since coming to the outhouse but instead of trying to find out why she was behaving so he promptly jumped to the wrong conclusion.
And what is bothering me even more is that he has not shown any remorse for his actions. He is supposedly in love with this girl & such behavior towards someone you love is alarming.....

Maan's past experience made him beliv that geet was playing wiv him n his feelings (when she smiled quietly) but that is no excuse to go to an extent to grabbing her hand tightly n nt forgtn the hair - so harsh 😲
He should have asked/told her off without getting physical
But he did go very far - did he even breath when he sed all those things - boii !! 😆
Im kinda mad at geet - she didnt relly respond well to it - maybe she was shocked!!
Omg he pushed her so hardly...hw can he have feelings 4 her when he done that - sori i disagree - i fink maan luvs himself!!
I hope geet walks away 2mrw...self respect is no1

I agree the physicality was way too much but she invoked some seriously bitter resentments in him. I know many people are desperate to have Sameera as his mother but either way, whatever she did and Geet's little miscalculation really crossed the line.

Good point about Parvati/Tulsi - (and they took their cheating husbands back so they really aren't that different from Naintara!!!) It is refreshing to see Geet isn't some sort of Devi but an everyday human being. However, she doesn't realise what her mistake exactly was but what I appreciated about this incident was that it wasn't out of character for Geet. She has on many occasions said way too much and taken things a bit too far. In her innocence she doesn't really realise the impact of her words/actions. I think as time goes she'll get it and maybe mellow a bit.

As for self-respect any fool can see this was completely an over-the-top response from Maan and although Geet was stunned, I'm sure she's not that clueless to know there's more to his reaction than meets the eye. Just like Maan knows there's more to Geet's leaving her family than meets the eye. So I don't think her self-respect will be compromised if she seeks an explanation (dadima will probably explain) and isn't so angry once she gets it.
