Chapter 4

Vicky had been dosing for a few mins when he woke up with a numbness in his arm due to the awkward position and shifted uncomfortably wondering why am I taking so much pain for this woman and tried to slip his hand from under her. She seemed to be deeply asleep and did not budge when he removed his hand tho she pouted her lips as if sulking on her favorite toy being taken away. Vicky gave rueful smile and went out silently after gazing at her for a few minutes from the door.

Vicky had been talking to his brother and laughed at something Maan had said about Abs being a tikhi mirchi when they had discussed the project update and had thought about nargis..haan aur yahan ek garam masala hai..

He got a picture of her sleeping in the other room and felt something stir..in him as well as..another part of his anatomy..and broke that thought when hear Maan saying..Are kahan kho gaye? You with some girl or what?

Vicky said..huh! haan..but not the way you are thinking bro! She is going to be some work..!

Maan says..Achcha? kaun hai?

Oh'ek Indian American hai..met her on the flight..badi..dhamandi type hai' but nothing I cant handle.

He then got off the subject and finished the call after discussing the questions there were important for tomorrow's meeting.

He then realized that in about 30 mins they will be landing and decided to wake up the sleeping beauty in there.

Vicky was at the door and heard her murmuring to herself.. Ye mein yahan kaise aa gayee? Oh god who Chaloo..kahin..oh God! Ye sab kya ho raha hai mere saath.?

Just then Vicky enters and says'

Ye Chaloo itna bhi harami nahi hai ki..woh ek sotee hui ladki ke saath..you know..!

I am not that desparate he said as he put his shoulder on the door frame, crossed his legs at angles and arms and cocked his head to side .

Nargis gaped!

Vicky said. Yah! I am an Indian! Surprise! And now you can apologise to me for saying the things you said earlier and now and if you like you can fall at my feet, I will not stop you.! He laughed with his eyes as he said this and was thoroughly enjoying the interplay of emotions on nargis's face. She was like a fish without water. Gaping then closing her mouth and again opening. Guilt written on her face fighting with anger at having been fooled.

Vicky moved away from door frame and walked towards Nargis. Nargis could not move. She was struck by a lightning. She opened her mouth to say something but nothing would come out and felt the color rise in her cheeks.

You! You! Why! How! I mean..! then calming down a bit she said. I am sorry! I didn't I mean I didn't know! Her eyes misted with tears

Vicky almost a foot away from her now said. Nargis! very softly as he looked into her eyes and said Ease up! As he put his hands on her shoulder. I am just kidding about the apology. I have this habit! Oh damn this sense of humour of mine. It's a common mistake I didn't think you were Indian myself.

Nargis felt as if lightning had struck her and burnt her up in ashes when she felt Vicky's touch on her shoulders. She tried to say but the tear ran down her cheek.

Vicky now feeling quite contrite said Shhh! Wiping the tear away with his finger! Don't cry baby! I am a fool! I should not have teased you and gathered her in his arms. Nargis had yet to recover from the earlier shock went into another one. She stood stiffly in the circle of his arms unable to move tho she didn't want to move away she wanted to move into the arms completely and hug him back. This thought catapulted her into action and she jumped back and hit her head on the bulkhead above.

Ow! She moaned and immediately felt Vicky put his hand on the bump and caress the hair away saying let me see! Did you hit hard! Although he seemed to be laughing.

Hearing the laugh Nargis got livid and pushed him away and said. I am fine! Vicky could not stop himself. He laughed out loud. Oh! Zeno back with a vengeance. Nargis losing every semblance of control launched herself at Vicky and pushed him harder. Vicky not expecting this fell backwards and in attempt right himself he put his flailing arms forward, grabbed Nargis and lost his balance and went down on the floor on his back taking Nargis with him sprawled all over him, her hair losing her pins and spread over their heads like a curtain shielding them.

Vicky and Nargis's breath came out in whoosh and accidently Vicky's hand went on to Nargis's hip. Nargis tries to wriggle herself out from his grasp and off him but was not able to do so and then she heard Vicky growl softly and with arms around her going tighter. Stop wriggling woman! Else I wont be responsible for what happens next. Nargis feeling the bulge on her stomach stops, color floods her face and almost stops breathing. Vicky slowly eases her off him on to her back next to him and takes her hair off his face, turns sideways and looks into her eyes. Nargis closes her eyes not wanting to face Vicky. Vicky going sideways with his hand supporting his head, moves the mass of hair off her face as well and when finds her eyes closed, is compelled to run his finger tracing the path of her hairline from temple to her neck. Nargis's breathing became sallow coming in harsh gasps, Vicky not able to resist further, closes the distance between them and places his lips on her trembling ones furtively. He breathes in her scent, and takes her breath in his mouth and then gives her a proper kiss. Nargis's eyes fly open at the first contact of his lips and then loses herself in his eyes.

Just as he was going to deepen the kiss, the Captain voice comes on the PA saying that they are now preparing to land at JFK and they should buckle up.

Vicky releases Nargis and says..Saved by the proverbial bell meri Garam Masala! Gets up and gives his hand to Nargis to help up. Nargis ignores the hand, gets up without much difficulty she was shaken not an invalid she thought strainghtens her clothes, reties her scarf and raises her hands to tie her hand when she hears a departing Vicky say..Rehne do! Achche lagte hai! And laughs as he see her tie her hair anyway.

Finishing the immigration formalities and then going to collect her baggage and going out into the cool afternoon outside the airport alongside Vicky, she puts her hand out near the taxi line at the curb and says thank you for all you did! Vicky takes her hand in his and says, I shall drop you! Where are you going?

Nargis says No! I will go from here. My brother is going to pick me up and he should be here any minute. Thank you once again and goodbye!

Vicky then not saying another thing waves her goodbye and sits in the cab after putting in his luggage.

Not bad for your "official" first get-together as at the bar, you two weren't exactly with each other!😆 And then Nargis goes "Main aage kaise!"😆 Mujhe toh abhi tak kharoos ne ek back rub bhi nahin diya itna overtime project par work karne ke baad bhi!😡😆 Uski main baad mein vaat lagaongi devar ke saath mil kar!

Glad you liked the idea! Adi should be given a raise by Maan though because it's Adi who got Abs to apply for the position, and it's Adi who pushed Maan to go after her before it would be too late! 😃😉 Maybe Abs will use her persuasion on Maan for getting Adi a raise!
