Chapter 3 – Forms of Love

'Help her! Angad, she has a life ahead of her, Angad! Angad, you must save her, Angad….' the voice echoed through is head, like a siren simply screeching through is head.

Images flashed through his head, the drunk driver standing in the courtroom with his handing down in shame and guilt, and handsome old man with dark blue eyes wide open with expectation and hope at his son. Two old loving couple who died at the scene with the eyes closed with a peaceful expression sleeping as if they would awake any moment to give him the courage and strength. A woman fighting, till her last breath, the sight of the open gasping for air as she fought to be there for her son and a young lady begging her brother, to get rid of the pain. The same young lady, demanding a promise to continue the line of Khannas', a promise to life his life to the fullest, a promise to bring the Khanna Empire to great heights. A promise he was half fulfilling.

"Didi…!" Angad awoke, sweating.

'What was that, what was Pooja didi saying, who am I to save? Why? No, I must not thing of these things, focus, Angad, Focus. '

He got up and grabbed his shirt and slipped in over his head and stuck his hands into the holes. He walked down the hallway towards the study, his study, the study that has been passed down from his grandfather to his father and now to him.

He turned the knob, flicked on the lights and looked around the north was filled with thick old books, the west was filled with ever diploma, degree, award, earned my a Khanna, on the east side was a glass window that was out looking a land with natural curves and down onto a glistering lake and on the south wall behind him stood a portrait of his family.

His mother with the gray eyes filled with love, a soft face, light features, thin eyebrows, full lips, a perfect nose, warm brown hair, dressed in a maroon sari with grayish sliver embroidered.

His father with dark blue eyes, strict, and formal, demanding discipline, perfect figures, a 6'1' height, strong shoulders and body, the black suit with the vest and tie brought out the maroon shirt.

His grandfather and his grandmother, sitting proudly with their family, his grandmothers eyes chocolate browning gazing into to your soul, his grandfathers ancient eyes dark blue filled with wisdom and thought. His grandmothers maroon sari with golden embodied suited her well with her husband's black suit, maroon shirt and a black tie with maroon and golden stripes.

Last but not least, his eyes followed down to his sister, Pooja Khanna, he looked at her fair skin, gorgeous brown eyes with a tint of gray filled with laughter and love and mischief. She was the light of the house, a fine lady with the power to overcome anyone with her words, no wonder why she choose law, the brown in her eyes could harden up to make you spill your guts out. A trait she inherited by their grandmother.

He sighed and pulled up the chair and sank into it, remembering all those who had left him behind to face the world, all alone.

"Ah, beta, your probably tired, go get some rest, you too young lady." Indicating Simran to head on to bed.

"Mama, but." Simran protested.

"NO ifs, NO buts, and No stuts," replied Kaveri with a glare.

"Mother, geez, what if I die or something like in a car accident, won't you feel bad that you didn't let you 17 year old daughter fan over Zac Efron and you didn't even let her watch High School Musical 2," pleaded Simran.

Kaveri sighed, "You're never going to change, you too stubborn, it's pointless to even argue with you."

"Ha-ha, I know mom, I take after you, because if I took after dad I would be dancing on your fingert—," laughed Simran.

"Simran," Soham said quickly ending the disagreement, "Are you aware tomorrow we have dinner at the Khanna Palace."

"Oh really! Wow, he is so HOT! Man. Daddy I was wondering if I could get a new dress for the dinner, you know it makes a good impression," Simran replied fluttering her eyelashes, "and didi also needs a new dress, too."

"Hey, I don't need a new dress I have plenty, plus---"Kripa was cut off.

"Didi, you need a new dress because I SAID SO and when Simran Sharma says you need something you need it," Simran said loudly, and the whispered, "Di, this is dad's money, don't hesitate in using it as long as you have it," and then added in a bratty whisper, "plus daddy, won't say NO, because I am daddy's little girl," and then smirked.

"Okay, sweetheart, I'll have an employee drop off a new debt card," replied Soham without looking up from a file.

"Mama, what were you saying about the bill of shopping Simran did two days ago?" asked Kripa innocently.

"yeah, that was ---," Kaveri looked up to see her daughter and realized what Kripa meant, "Oh I see, Soham, remember what we talked about yesterday," Simran gasps for air as she swallows a whole popcorn, "about lowering Smiran's expenses. "

"Acha, Sorry Beta, no shopping for you for a week, Remember," said Soham with a note ending the discussion.

Kripa winks at her mom, and Kaveri winks back with a small smile playing at their lips, Kripa knew her mom would not have motioned the money spending ban, if she hadn't heard Smiran's snobby little remark.

Kripa was bored of the movie, so she walked over and sat down near her father's feet. Soham gazes down, and smiles, his baby girl, his first child.

Soham bends downward and kisses her at the top of her head. "I love you, beta, I love you both equally."

'I know papa, I know." She replied softly. Soham smiled, as he remembered the first time she had said 'papa'. She was the only one out of both his daughters who called him that at their infant moments, Simran had always said, daddy. Only Kripa said Papa, he knew that she knew how much it meant to both of them. It was like there secret code for father-daughter special relationship.

"Oh my gosh, didi, you rock, I love this, I can't believe you got me a dress along with yours," she yelped in joy,

She loved the dress it was a light brownish color with pink designs, it fit right in with her light brown butterscotch eyes and brought out her natural blush around her cheeks and her pinks.

Kripa smile as she pulled her brown dress with golden embodied design, she thought it was flattering with her dark brown hair that she inherited from her dad and the chocolate eyes. The golden simply flattered her simplicity that she was to carry, meaning no jewelry, it would over do it.

The girls both came out looking gorgeous, Simran had her hair straightened, while, Kripa curled her hair and let the curls fall naturally and lightly. With little make-up that consists of eyeliner, foundation, eye-shadow, and lip gloss. Simran wore a light pink shimmering lip gloss as of where Kripa wore a golden-ish lip gloss.

The both headed downstairs, while Soham jokingly bowed and held is hand out. Even though Simran reached downstairs first she await for Kripa to place her hand out first to be pecked with a kiss on the hand by their father.

Soham smiled proudly at the manners he had given his daughters. He half hoped they would never have to be that polite to any man, other than a relative, and that he would not have to punch a man in his jaw for kissing his any of his daughters.

He turned at the sound of a light sweep which he recognized as the sound of his wife, they were matching, she was wearing a dark brown sari with golden and pink embroidered design while he wore a black designer suit with a white shirt and a striped tie with dark brown, light brown, pink, white, and black.

"Shall we go, my love?" he inquired with romance in his eyes that was visible to his wife.

"Of course, my dear." She replied with the same amount of affection.

As the family of four head down out to the Khannas' Palace unknowing what the night had planned for them.
