Chapter 2 –First Sight
Her eyes looked up form the olive green embroidered flip flops to the plain white summer skirt. She smiled instantly. The olive green top did bring out her skin tone. She looked gorgeous. Hmm. Her hair was done naturally with light curls and so was her make-up. She had on a natural skin colored eye shadow with a tint and light pink shimmer lip-gloss on her lips.
"Hello?" said Kripa waving her hands in front of her little sister.
"Wow, didi, your looking…." Simran glanced at the business men that were sitting at Starbucks with dreamy looks "…hot."
"Shut up." Ignoring the snickers and the childish giggles from Simran. "Where are mom and dad?" she wondered out loud.
"They are at home, trying to control the mail and long line of men waiting out side our gates." She announced proudly.
"humph." Kripa mutter something under her breath. Simran smiled.
Kripa sat down next to Simran in her silver Nissan 350z as Simran zoomed on to the highway. Simran turned the radio on to 104.1 FM and both the sisters started to sing along with the songs.
"Oh my gosh!" yelled Simran. "Didi, listen to this song….aahhh…it's the best."
"Because you loved meeeeee…"sang Simran as she turned the volume and bass up...Kripa stared outside laughing at her sister pitiable voice. She saw a man look at her from the car in the next line.
Kripa's eyes looked deep into this man's gray eyes. She immediately felt sorry for him. He eyes were cold and distant like his life was just being lived due as a compromise. Kripa's mind in a second jumped to conclusions, did his wife die? Is he depressed? Is it workload? Did he get in a fight with his fiance? Kripa stopped thinking.
'No, this is wrong how can I judge anyone like that? No. I have no right to do so.' She thought. She lowered her gaze and turned away.
Angad was done with his work, he then realized that he would have to go home and get ready for the dinner with the Sharmas'. He head downstairs not even bothering to even glance at his employees and waited for the front desk guard to drive his car up.
Angad carelessly looked up he hated this weather. Everything was just so happy, the wind was light, and it seemed as if the sun and the clouds were laughing together.
"Excuse me, sir." said the front desk guard. Angad took the keys smoothly without even replying. Angad simply loved his sliver Porsche. It was a gift from his dad. Ouch. That thought had just pierced his soul. Angad was drowned into a world of memories until a loud sound awoke him.
Angad looked at the car to his right that was standing next to him at the signal. He saw to girls sing loudly and joyfully. The looked a lot alike, he guessed they were sisters.
He looked and saw a gorgeous young lady, with dark brown hair with the same chocolate colored eyes. He was so mesmerized by her beauty, looked beautiful with out even meaning it; every thing about her was just so natural.
Angad felt as if he could get out of his car and dance with her until the end of the world, talk to her, and laugh with her, enjoy life with her….he stopped thinking. NO! This isn't right. He just could not think of the four letter world that had affected his life. He just didn't want to be the cause of her…..No. He thought sharply 'No.' He saw her turn away with a slight hint of guilt in her eyes.
Angad's curiosity got better of him. He wondered why she was guiltily. Angad stopped, 'how had he known that guilty? How could he have done that by just gazing into her eyes?" No. This was wrong. He did something that he hadn't done in 9 years. He turned on the radio to drown his thoughts.
"KRIPA, BETA!" Kaveri announced. "Ohh my baby. How are you? You seem so skinny. Did you eat or did you just run around the hospital like a maniac? Young lady, you're not going anywhere this holiday you are staying here. Ohh, becha, your dress is so…" Kaveri ran on and on about her daughters appearance.
"Kaveri, yaar, that's enough, are you planning to make her run back to London?" asked Soham with humor in his eyes. His eyes twinkled with love and laughter making him seem younger.
Kaveri smiled as Soham placed his briefcase down to hug both of his daughters. The reason she loved him so much, he was fair to both of them, he would never treat one over the other for anything, but yet the girls as they always did would argue over the fact who he loved more.
As Kaveri stood there looked at her reason to live and imprinting this memory into her soul, Soham indicated she come forward and he opened up the hug to make room for her. Kaveri took her place in Soham's arms.
Angad was tired; he had just finished his dinner and his work. He went to take a long, hot steamy shower.
He came out after an hour. He got dressed into a pair of plaid PJ. He decided against wearing his shirt. And Boy was one hell of a fit man. Jesus. Man.
Soon the night began to close on him only wake him up with a dreadful, horror of a truthful nightmare.
