"Hi, Handsome! How are you?" Kanan welcomed Angad by hugging friendly way. She noticed the little girl beside him and raised eyebrows at him "Yeh hai surprise? Is she your 'Woh' ki beti?"
Angad frowned "humaray beti. Meri beti, Sur. Sur Khanna." He carried Sur and introduced to Kanan. Kanan surprised "you are a cheater. Pehley tumhara love story tak bataya tha phir yeh beti kahan sey aayi?"Kanan took Sur and walked Angad inside to other guests.
Angad laughed "Mujhey bhi kuchi hi din pehley maloom huva tha. Kripa still loves me."
Kanan shocked and turned his side "Kripa? Your lover? Now I got it. I was thinking and trying to recall where did I see this beauty?" she pinched Sur's cheek affectionately. "Sur! Tum wahan bachon ke saat khelney jaogi? You have plenty of playthings around there. Make yourself comfortable." She showed where Sur should go. Sur took Angad's permission and ran the way she showed.
Angad turned to Kanan "Abb batao, where did you know Sur from? Do you know Kripa too?"
Kanan's mother Avantika agarwal came, meanwhile, greeted Angad and turned to Kanan, "Kanan! Wo bachi kiski hai? Do you remember her, Sur? Where are her parents?"
Kanan pointed at Angad "Sur came with Angad. He knew Kripa." Avantika startled "OH!..Then I need to talk about them, Angad! Janey se pehley humey batakar jaana." Angad agreed as anxiety killing him inside.
Kanan also excused herself to receive other guests.
Kanan took Angad into another room when she got time as some of guests left after dinner. "Angad! I know her only past 5 or 6 months. But Mom knows her for long time like, I think since Sur's birth. Poor woman, got a harsh treatment from her husband. Wo ek samay mein humarey saat hi rehti thi jab uski husband jinda jalaney ki koshish kiya tha. That was horrible, we tried to frame him but she didn't give any chance to punish him. Patanahin wo kyon ussey bachana chahti hai."
Angad's eyes moistened "we also don't know about her harassment till recently." He gave a brief of last incident. Kanan felt sad "Our law is ready to punish such people but society still not giving enough courage to the victims to use the law for their benefits. I think girls' parents should be stronger to support their own children from these horrible harrassments." Kanan explained her concern about loopholes in the system.
"I want to rescue Kripa, Kanan! I think she is guilty for whatever happened and want to punish herself. I want to build trust in her. She loves me a lot, that I can see in her eyes but she fears to leave her husband." He explained about Sur and his past friendship and commitment with Kripa.
Avantika, Naina and Dilip joined them when everyone left. Avantika explained about Kripa after hearing about Angad's relationship with her and knowing about Damini and Gayatri as her own family.
"I wonder how Damini could support her son. Who ek haivan hai. Rakshash hai woh. Kripa per itna julum kiya tha woh wahan jee nahin paya kyon ki sab padosiyon uska jeena haram kardaala tha.
He used to bring girls home and spent nights in front of Kripa and forced Kripa to be friendly with them. I was shocked when I saw him flirting with girls in front of her and Kripa used to entertain them with cheer on her face. He used to bash her even in pregnancy. But one thing I appreciate, whatever harm he did to Kripa he never ill treated Sur. He loves kids. Kabhi kabhi lagta tha ki shayad he has split mind. He used to take Sur to parks, children play places and he used to throw grand birthday parties. But how could a child accepts when his own mother has been harassed by his father in front of his own eyes? Sur ko dekh kar toh meri mann phigal jaati thi. Bechari bahut saha tha.
"Haan aur ek baat thi, he has a girlfriend, Harshini. She also beat Kripa once or twice. I think she loves Prithvi. Harshini ko chodo, Prithvi ki behen Aaliyah bhi Kripa ko bahut tang kari thi. I saw her scolding Kripa on the road. But Kripa never opened her mouth. Pata nahin kiss liye yeh sab saha tha, bechari!"
Angad dropped tears all the time when Kanan and Avantika explained about Prithvi and Kripa. Naina and Dilip felt bad for Kripa too. Angad requested Kanan to find out a way to rescue Kripa from this trauma. Kanan took Kripa's whereabouts and promised him to look into matter.
Angad spent whole night thinking the ways to bring Kripa out as he was caressing Sur's cheeks. Sur shivered once in her dream and Angad covered her under sheets and sheltered under his warm hugs.
Angad had to go out of town after two days for a project work and dropped Sur with Kripa. His love and affection multiplied as his heart filled with sympathy on Kripa. "I give you all supports and security, Kripa! I keep you in heaven. Just let me have a chance to punish your sadist husband and rescue you from this tortured life." He thought while Kripa taking Sur from his shoulders. He kissed her cheek and whispered "goodnight!!"
Kripa surprised for his behavior but bid bye without any conversation.
Kripa went to a law firm after two days to pursue Prithvi's case. After hearing everything, the chief advocate ordered his assistant, Kanan Agarwal to take up the case. Kripa shocked to see Kanan but followed her into Kanan's cabin.
"Bhaito, Kripa! So, atlast you are considering for divorce!!"
Kripa stretched her lips and shook her head. "Why did you tolerate his torture for four years?" Kanan asked ordering for condiments for both. Kripa explained the situation led to her marriage and her guilt for Prithvi's situation.
"Jab humara shadi huva tha, Prithvi dhamki diya tha. But he never forced me to bed for a month. I joined him at Belgium. He used to sleep separately. He was so concerned, caring. I tried to forget my commitment with Angad and move forward. But Prithvi couldn't adjust with me. He started torturing me by asking me in bed how Angad touched me, kissed me and …"Kripa couldn't finish her statement. Kanan gave a glass of water to sooth her. After a while Kripa continued, "We could never consummate our relationship. After two months I realized I was pregnant. Prithvi's anger flared up more. He started torturing me emotionally and physically."
"Did he have any extra marital relations?" Kanan interrupted.
Kripa shook her head lowering her eyes. "Mein uskey liye bhi khud ko kusurvar maanti thi. Meri wajah sey hi Prithvi ka gussa bhadgaya tha. He was confused to show his frustration out. I felt he wants to show me how it feels when someone betrays your trust. He made me see how he loves his girlfriends."Kripa stopped explaining as sobbing closing her eyes. Kanan's eyes moistened and closed her eyes in her palms. Kanan pressed her nose bridge to control her anger and tears. She sniffed and dropped hand on Kripa "Control, Kripa! I know you went through a lot. Mama ney bata rahi thi. Though it was not clear I could understand the picture. It's really saddening. You shouldn't have encouraged him for being violent."
Kripa cut her sentence "I didn't want to punish him by law, Ms. Kanan! I didn't want my parents to know about my life. They didn't even know about Sur's biological father. They didn't know about my affair with Angad. I didn't know about Angad still loving me till I came here. Abb mein Angad ke paas wapas jana chahti hoon. Sur ko uski asli pita ke paas bejna chahti hoon. I didn't realize that I love Angad too. Jab mein uskey paas rahti hoon meri saari dard mit jaati hai. I feel so secured. Abb meri jindagi uska saat hai. Now, I want to leave Prithvi, but I don't want to punish him. Please help me. I tried to convince Prithvi, Damini mom but they are not in favour of divorce."
Kanan sighed "Don't worry, Kripa! I'm there to help you. Let me talk to your husband and mother-in-law first. Then we could pursue the matter accordingly."
Kripa relieved and left after four hours of deep conversation. Kanan tried Angad's phone to convey the good news but he was not reachable.
Next day, Avantika invited Damini, Prithvi for dinner on Kanan's suggestion. Damini happily agreed as she was already thinking to divert Prithvi's life from Kripa. Prithvi reluctantly agreed as Damini took an oath on herself.
Damini was impressed by Kanan at first sight but Prithvi was shocked to see them. He understood the reason behind the dinner invitation. He couldn't update anything to Damini as she was escorted by Avantika and walked into the living room. Kanan's sharp looks were piercing Prithvi till they started having dinner.
Avantika made Damini comfortable with many general topics. She didn't bring any topic about her daughter-in-law or kids. Kanan also tried to comfort Prithvi with general topics and exchanging professional talks. After dinner Prithvi got ready to leave. He was feeling suffocated from the time he recognized Avantika and Kanan.
"Itni jaldi kya hai, Prithvi? Humara baat abhi tak khatam nahin hua." Kanan talked hiding inner meaning.
Avantika also smiled "Haan, beta! Ab tak hum introductory talks kiye they. Actual baatein ab shuru hona baaki hai. Kanan! Shuru karein?"
Avantika started the conversation after taking signals from Kanan. "Damini! Mujhey ghuma phirakey baatein karna pasand nahin hai. Mein seedey baat par aajati hoon. Mein US mein tumhara beta ka bhaajoo mein rehti thi. I know every moment how he had tortured his wife. Wajah toh mein nahin jaanti magar ek besahara ladki ko bereham sey maar peet karna kahan ki sanskar hai?
Damini shocked for sudden attack "Avantika! What are you talking? How do you …is this the reason you called us here? Ghar bulakey mehmaan ko insult karti ho?"
"Haan, Damini! I invited you to find out the problem and pursue with you. I saw your granddaughter with Angad two days ago. I realized what had happened with you all. But harassing a girl is not right thing. He knew about her affair before marriage and why did he marry her?"
"Mom! Yeh sab baat chodo. Abb humey yeh sochna hai ki aagey kya karengey. Look, Mr. Prithvi! We cannot change whatever happened. But we change ourselves to rectify the problem. You know you are in deep trouble. I have strong evidence against you. Kripa is ready to go against you, if you don't agree for divorce. Don't take advantage of her guilt and soft corner at you. She is my client now. She wants divorce from you. You choose which way you want to solve the problem. Chup chap divorce papers mein sign karo, aur tumhara aur Kripa ki jindagiya sawarney ki mouka de. Nain toh I have to go through law to punish you in right way."
Prithvi and Damini shocked and felt dumb at Kanan and Avantika's encounter. They sat silently for a while.
Damini took dare to speak out "Avantika! Mein kya karoon? Humey bhi abhi abhi pata chala tha. Kripa aisi karegi mujhey ab bhi yakein nahin hota. Abb itna honey ke baad mein bhi kaisey ussey bahu maan kar respect karungi? Iss sey behetar hai ki uss sey chutkara miljaaye. Main bhi Prithvi ko mana leti hoon."
Prithvi didn't like the conversation and didn't like the thoughts of leaving Kripa but he felt the situation was not in his favour anymore. He shook his head silently and followed Damini.
Kanan thanked Avantika for handling the situation well and called Angad to convey the good news but he was unreachable again. He told Kripa about the situation. Kripa felt happy and prayed for things get better in her favor. She cuddled sleeping Sur and kissed her cheeks "hum jaldi apnay papa ke paas chaley jaayengey." She dreamt about three of them together.
