Kripa sat at the coffee table writing out checks for the bills as Rahul, unwillingly, was doing his homework and Payal was playing with some dolls.

Payal- Mommy, can I ask you something
Kripa- Yea honey
Payal- Are daddy and you ever going to get back together,.......are we ever going to live like a family again.....?

Rahul rolled his eyes and continued doing his work. Kripa looked at Payal's face full of hope for her answer to be yes, but she wouldn't lie to her, otherwise her one answer would give Payal hope for something that would never happen.

Kripa- No Payal, Prithvi and I are never getting back together....and ....as you get older you'll understand why
Payal was saddened but still smiled.
Payal- Mommy, you and daddy are going to get back together one day, you know how I know?
Payal waited for Kripa to ask her how, but when she didn't she continued.
Payal- Because I asked Santa last year, and I'm sure this year it'll come true! Also, one time I saw a shooting star, and that's what I asked for, so it'll come true that way too!
Kripa- Payal.....I'd hate to tell you this, but I'll regret it if I don't, your dad and I aren't ever getting back together and that's reality. Anyways, enough of this, guess what I have for you two
Payal- What?
Kripa- Three tickets to go see the baseball game next week
Rahul- Awesome, thanks mom
Payal- Yay! Baseball

At Angad's house, Riya was painting a picture while Angad and Josh were hanging out.

Josh- Dude, you have to do me this favor
Angad- What?
Josh- Alliya is all over me to get you and her best friend to meet, I need you to so she'll get off my back
Riya- Josh uncle, who's the girl?
Angad- Yea, who's the girl?

Right then Alliya came and interupted.

Alliya- The girl is my best friend, Kripa Sharma! And guess what, she'll be sooo perfect for you, you two just need to date and----
Riya- Kripa Sharma, we met her a couple of days ago!
Alliya- Really, how?
Angad told her the story of him knowing Kripa since high school and the Payal runaway situation.

Alliya- Wow, so do you like her?
Angad- She wouldn't a be my best friend if I didn't
Josh- I thought I was your best friend
Alliya- And I thought I was Kripa's best friend
Josh- Babe, do you get it, we have competition
Alliya- Your right, we do,....we'll see to that later, right now, Angad, you and Riya come to my house for dinner
Angad- Why?
Alliya- Because......because.....and Kripa will be there too, see ya, bye Riya honey
Riya- Bye aunty

Alliya left and went to Kripa's house. Payal opened the door. Alliya smiled and picked her up in her arms and kissed her cheek.

Alliya- How's my angel doing?
Payal- Not good, I'm soooooo bored!
Alliya- That's not good, but don't worry, not that I'm here, I'll fix everything
Payal- Yay!

Alliya and Payal went to the living room where Rahul was playing a basketball video game.
Alliya- Rahul, you know you could actually play basketball when your older because your really tall

Alliya- Of coarse, but I still don't get it, Prithvi and Kripa aren't that tall......God knows how you got that gene
Rahul and Payal laughed at a confused Alliya.

Alliya- Anyways, where's Kripa?
Rahul- In the kitchen probably
Alliya- Okay

Alliya with Payal still in her arms went to the kitchen where Kripa was cutting vegetables. She sat Payal down on the counter and talked to Kripa.

Alliya- What cha doin?
Kripa- Alliya, I'm cutting vegetables, duh
Alliya- I know, dumb question, anyways, if your making dinner than stop right now
Kripa- Why?
Al- Because your invited to my house for dinner tonight
K- Why?
Al- Because I feel like cooking so you all are going to have to be the victims of my bad food
Kripa laughed.
K- Don't even lie Alliya, I don't think there's a better cook out there than you, you could have been a professional chef if you wanted
Al- thanks, now, come to my house in an hour, and Payal since your bored, would you like to come to my house and help me cook?
Payal- Yes!
Al- Great, bye Kripa
K- Bye, and Payal don't trouble Alliya
P- I never trouble anyone mommy, and especially not Alliya aunty
Al- Yea Kripa, Payal doesn't trouble me at all, now bye darling, love you
K- Bye

Later, like Alliya asked, Kripa and Rahul were at Alliya's door for dinner.

Kripa rang the doorbell and Josh came and opened it.

K- Hey Josh
J- Hey Kripa, how are you?
Kripa and Josh hugged.
K- I'm good
J- Come on in

J- Little man, you're getting so tall, if you grow at this rate, you'll be taller than me
R- That doesn't sound too bad
Josh laughed as they walked to the dining room.

Kripa's eyes grew as she saw Angad standing in the dining room smiling back at her.
K- What are you doing here?!
A- Can't I come to my best friend's fiancee's house for dinner?
Kripa looked at Josh and figured it out, meaning Alliya invited him.

K- oh......, anyways, hi Riya
R- Hello aunty!
A- Kripa, that's your son?
K- ...erm.....yea
A- Hey, Rohit...no, sorry, ...err Rahul, right?
R- Yea, Rahul
A- I'm Angad Khanna
Rahul smiled as he sat down.

Payal- Mommy, I helped Alliya aunty make the salad and dessert!
Kripa- That's great

Alliya brought out the last dish and sat down with everyone else.
Alliya- Okay, everyone dig in!
Kripa- Wow, you made so much! All in an hour and a half?
Alliya- Well.......I might have cheated and brought some things from the store
Everyone laughed and shook their heads.

Alliya- So you two met in high school, Kripa, how come you never told me about Angad?
Kripa- ...It never came up
Alliya- You could have made it came up
Kripa- That would be completely random and.....unnecessary, Payal don't pour so much rice, you're not going to eat it all

Angad burst out laughing. Everyone looked at him like he was a maniac.
Al- What's so funny?
A- Sorry, it's just......seriously, six years back, no one could have imagined this would be the same Kripa
K- And why not?
A- I don't know, back then you were so ...irresponsible, carefree, and....a little tomboyish, now your all the opposite
K- Then I changed for the better, right?
A- ......I liked you then and.....I like you now too
Al- How sweet!
J- Come on Angad, I'm sure six years back you weren't the same man your now, is he Kripa?
K- well.....I'm sure since he's been a father, he's more responsible, but....apart from that.....he really hasn't changed
Riya laughed at Angad.
Angad- That's just how I roll

Josh- So Alliya, is your dad going to your brother's wedding this fall?
Alliya- Yea, he's going to make it, but after the divorce, I don't think mom or him can handle seeing each other
Josh- that's funny
Al- Is not, it's....awkward
Payal- My mommy and daddy are divorced and they can handle seeing each other
Al- Not everyone is as lucky as you
Alliya kissed Payal on the head, leaving Payal confused.
Payal- But I'm not lucky because if I was lucky, mommy and daddy would still be married right, we'd be living like a family, right?
The table went dead silent at Payal's questions until her big brother spoke up.
Rahul- So what if mom and dad are divorced, we're happy and that means we're lucky
Payal- oh......it does?
Riya- Yea because you have a loving mom who takes care of you and loves you a lot, so that makes up for everything you don't have
Angad looked at Payal, he didn't know before, but he realized it now Riya was missing a mother's love and she needed it too.

Josh- Hey, Alliya did you tell them the good news yet?
Angad- She's pregnant?
Alliya- No stupid, our marriage date has finally been fixed, this month on the 16th!
Kripa hugged Alliya.
K- Congrats
A- Yea congrats, I never miss a chance for free food
Josh- Fine, but don't eat too much, I have to pay for the food, I still say a wedding cake isn't necessary
Al- Is too, what world are you living in?
Payal- Yea, cake is the best and most delicious part
Rahul- Right on
Josh- Fine, but it better be chocolate, cause thats my favorite
Alliya- Half chocolate and half vanilla, marble
Josh- Girls
Alliya- Kripa and I are going to do soooooo much shopping!
Kripa laughed at Alliya.

Alliya- By the way Kripa, did you know Angad promised Riya to start dating again
Kripa awkwardly smiled.
K- Thats ....good
Al- And Angad, Kripa is also willing to move on, bet cha didn't know that
A- I didn't, it's good though
Al- And I bet you both didn't know----------
Josh- Alliya, I love you but please, shut up, guys what Alliya is trying to say is, date each other, like each other, love each other, then get married, have some kids, raise your kids together, and be a happy family, now can we start dessert
Al- Josh your such a party pooper, but Kripa, Angad, please date each other, I mean, you've known each other since ever, so now take it to the next step!
Kripa- .......I have to go....I just remembered something important......erm....Payal, Rahul lets go
Alliya- But Kripa---
K- Thanks for having us over, the food was great, bye Josh, bye Riya and.......bye Angad

Kripa with her kids went home leaving everyone confused.

Josh- .........so how about dinner now?
Angad- Actually, I'm going to get going now too, you two carry on
Al- ........okay
Angad kissed Alliya's cheek and left with Riya.

On the drive home he knew why Kripa left, she probably never imagined both of them dating, to tell the truth neither had he. But he knew they both needed to move on, he needed a true friend and he knew she does too, so why not each other? Perhaps it was that one night that pushed her away from him, but they both agreed not to bring it up again, so we wouldn't.

After Kripa came home from work, she laid her purse on the table and the babysitter also went home.

Rahul- Mom
Kripa- Yea
Rahul- I'm old enough, why do we need a babysitter?
K- Old enough, your only 6
R- So how old do I have to be to not need a babysitter
K- .erm......13 is good for me
R- Mom, that's 7 more years, that's crazy
K- Hey, my parents didn't let me stay home alone until I was like 15, I'm giving you a two year head start
R- ....fine
K- Good, where's Payal?
R- In her room I think
K- I'll go check on her

Kripa went to Payal's room and saw her writing something down on a piece of paper.
K- How's my daughter?
Payal looked up and saw her mom, she smiled and ran up to her and hugged her.

Payal- Mommy!
Kripa- How was school?
Payal- It was okay.......
Kripa- What are you writing?
Payal- I'm trying to write a letter to daddy
Kripa- A letter?
Payal- Yea, I haven't talked to him in a while, so I'll write everything down that I want to say and send it
Kripa- That's fine but....honey, you don't know how to write all the letters in the alphabet yet
Payal- I know, that's why I can only use small words with the letters I know how to write, it's really hard mommy, I asked Rahul for help, but he was being a meany and said he had better stuff to do
Kripa- That's not very nice of him. But how about I call your dad for you and you can talk to him, easier than writing, don't you think?
Payal- Oh my gosh, that would be awesome!
Kripa- Good.

Payal followed Kripa to the living room. Kripa picked up the phone and dialed Prithvi's number.

Prithvi- Hello
Kripa- Hey, it's me Kripa
Prithvi- Hey Kripa, just who I wanted to call, I'm coming in two days
Kripa- Really, that' nice, but Payal will die if she doesn't talk to you now
Prithvi laughed.
Prithvi- Alright, put her on

Kripa handed the phone to Payal and went to go change her clothes in her room. Rahul and Payal were in the living room.

Payal- Daddy!!
Prithvi- What's my princess up to?
Payal- Nothing, I was just writing you a letter and mommy said it'll be easier if we call
Prithvi- That's cool, I'm coming in two days, so tell me a list of all the toys you want
Payal- All of them?!
Prithvi- Of coarse, if Prithvi Malhotra's daughter wants something, then she gets it, come on, tell me what you want
Payal- I want the new Barbie, the one that's the same size as me! And....oh yeah, I want a little pink jeep, the one all the girls drive around on the sidewalks, and......daddy, get me a whole bunches of chocolate and candy!
Prithvi- Got it, anything else, that list was a little too small
Payal- Oh daddy, I love you! But no, that's all
Prithvi- Alright, and if you think of anything else you want, then call me and I'll get it for you.
Payal- Okay! Where are you daddy?
Prithvi- I'm in Europe right now
Payal- Europe.......is that one the other side of the world?
Prithvi laughed- Something like that, some day I'm going to take you and Rahul on a world tour, then you'll know how big and how small this world is
Payal- Oh daddy, how could the world be big and small at the same time, your confused
Prithvi- Maybe, anyways, I love you honey, give the phone to Rahul
Payal- Alright, bye!
Prithvi- Bye, see ya in two days
Payal- Can't wait

Payal passed the phone on to Rahul.
Rahul- ....hello
Prithvi- Hey Rahul, hows my boy doing?
Rahul- Good
Prithvi- I'm coming in two days, Payal already gave me the list of toys and things she wants, you tell me what you want too
Rahul- Nothing dad
Prithvi- Nothing? I don't think I've raised you right, otherwise you'd spit out what you want right away
Rahul- Yea dad, cause you weren't here to raise us and that too because of your mistake
Prithvi- .........I know your mad at me Rahul, I should visit more, be with you guys more, but.......work you know, your dad has a whole empire he has to control
Rahul- .......yea
Prithvi- I'm glad you understand because one day even you have to control this empire, I'm just waiting for the day you'll hit 21, then my son will handle everything and I could relax, anyways, I'm going to see what are the newest toys out, and I'll bring them for you. Oh yeah, PS3 and Wii are out now, so I'll bring you that too.
Rahul- ....thanks dad
Prithvi- Thanks? This is your money too, don't thank me. Anyways, hows school going?
Rahul- Okay I guess, it ends tomorrow
Prithvi- Tomorrow huh? .......alright, then I'll have to stay in India for sometime, then we'll spend a lot of time together and have lots of fun, cool?
Rahul- Yea dad, see you then
Prithvi- Bye, love you

Rahul hung up. He saw Payal smiling the biggest smile ever and looking at him.
Rahul- What?
Payal- Daddy is coming!
Rahul- yea, I know
Payal- He's going to take us to a lot places and buy us lots of toys and we're going to have so much fun!
Rahul- You're weird
Payal- No, your the one that's weird, otherwise you'd be happy with me
Rahul- Alright....whatever.
Payal- What's daddy bringing you?
Rahul- None of your business
Payal- Why are you so mad, God is watching, if he sees you mad then he's going to think your mad because of me because I'm the one talking to you right now, so be happy!
Rahul- okay fine, I'll be happy that dads coming, happy?
Payal- Yep! I'm going to bake daddy chocolate chip cookies
Rahul- But you can't bake
Payal- I know, mommy is going to help me

Payal went to Kripa's room and Kripa agreed to help her make cookies. Afterwards, Kripa took the kids to the park. Rahul was playing soccer with some kids his age and Payal was playing on the swing sets. Before Kripa knew it, someone sat next to her on the bench. She looked over and saw Angad.

K- Angad! I mean.....what are you doing here?
A- Riya wanted to play in the park, so here I am
K- oh

Kripa spotted Riya and Payal playing together. She faintly smiled.
A- The way you left yesterday, I got worried
K- ........you did?
A- Yea, I don't know, I was thinking about what Alliya was saying, how we should date--K- I know, it's stupid and a waste of time and energy even to think about it
A- Actually, I don't think it's such a bad idea
Kripa was shocked to hear what Angad said. She looked in his light brown eyes trying to see if he was joking, but he kept a straight face and smiled.
A- Why, I'm not good enough for you?
K- Angad, shut up
A- Then what's the problem? I'm hot and handsome and your pretty cute, we'd make a good couple
K- You know your out if it right now, I have two kids
Kripa got up but Angad followed her.

A- And I have one, big deal
K- Do you know how much our kids would be affected if we........dated
A- Riya likes you, she wouldn't care. And I think your kids like me too, I can talk to them if they have a problem with it
Kripa stopped when Angad grabbed her arm and turned her around to face him.

A- Kripa, what are you afraid of?
K- .....nothing
A- Then why can't we date or be together, I like you, and I thought you like me too, maybe I was wrong
K- Angad, I do like you, but that doesn't mean anything changes. Even if we do date, then what? We'll probably just break up and have a nasty ending and never want to see each other's faces ever again
A- Or we could hit it off and possibly get married. Kripa, what the heck are you afraid of, do you think if you date again or get into a serious relationship then I'll do the same thing to you that Prithvi did to you?
K- This has nothing to do with what Prithvi did to me, it has to do with us
A- That's exactly what I'm trying to say, we both have to move on, so why not with each other?
K- Fine, you want to know why, then I'll tell you! Every time I'm with you I remember that stupid mistake we made in high school! And I hate thinking about that night, that's why I don't want to be with you!
A- Then don't give that night any importance, that' what I do
K- Exactly, and we're two different people, we see things differently, just.....forget about it, you and me can never be one

Kripa started to walk away with tears in her eyes. How easily he said forget about that night, don't give it any importance, the night that changed her whole life, how could she forget about it? How could she forget about the truth which she lived through everyday. She looked over at Rahul playing soccer, she had hated herself for so long after that night, but when she held Rahul in her arms for the first time, she fell in love with the mistake that changed her life.

Angad once again caught up with Kripa and this time stood in front of her.

A- Kripa, your one of the closest people to me, I like you a lot, what's one date going to hurt?
K- Angad, why won't you just give up
Angad smiled- Because you know me, I never give up

Kripa sighed.
K- Fine, one date, that's it
A- That's all I'm asking for, thanks
K- ......yea
A- So tomorrow night, you and me, I'll pick you up at 7, cool?
K- ......cool
A- Awesome, I can't wait, and I promise, you won't regret this

I hope you like the part. I had just got a new job so there was a lot of chaos in my life, but now things are normal, lol. I will regulary update now, so no more long waiting. Please comment!
