To the birthday girl... Happy Birthday!! I hope all your wishes & dreams come true. Have a Blast! 😃
Part 4 (second half)
Two days later
Singing and skipping around she made her way to the office early. She quickly made coffee for her stupid boss, and placed it on his desk, then took out the morning paper and placed all the sections on his desk.
Then, she brought all the necessary files in her cabin, and placed them on the side. She would need those.
There were still a few minutes before the office hours would officially start, so she walked out to catch anyone familiar, but she found no one, disappointed she returned to her cabin only to find Josh sitting on the side table smirking at her.
"What's up? Madam is in a really good mood? Anything special?" he asked still smirking, as he shifted his position
Blushing, she shook her head negatively, "Noooooo, Josh nothing special" but, who was she kidding, her tone itself made it obvious.
He was smiling now, "Oh Come on Kripa, something is up. Why are you so happy?"
"Nothing. I swear I just had a nice sleep!" she said holding her throat, and smiled again. God, she could not even lie properly.
"The way you are blushing, and smiling – it really makes me wonder whether someone proposed to you" he said fooling around.
She turned a shade of red, as she said, "Josh" at the same time punching him lightly on his shoulder.
"Oh so that is the case" he said laughing out loud, while she continued to hit him with a smile, "who is the guy" he questioned
"Josh, that is not the case" standing on her toes she said, "No one proposed to me. I swear" she replied truthfully now, while she removed some dirt from his hair.
"What are you doing?" he said hitting her hand lightly and walked backwards away from her, as he touched his hair
"Josh" she said walking in front, "your hair is standing up, so I am trying to make it sit down"
"Aree Kripa" he said throwing his head back and laughing, "This is the gelled look"
"What?" she asked, completely confused now.
"Gelled look" he replied, as he continued to look at her with amused expressions.
"No wonder. I felt something sticky. Josh, don't put jels pels on your hair, it will really damage your hair. Instead of gel why don't you apply oil?" she said pretending to look angry with her hands resting on her waist.
"Okay little sister." He said holding her hands, "Next time oil it is."
She looked really emotional now, at the mention of the words "little sister". Her mother was pregnant with the second child, who was a boy, when she had been part of that deadly explosion, which resulted in the loss of both.
"heyyyy" said Josh pulling her closer, and trying to wipe the tears falling on her rosy cheeks, "why are you crying?"
"Nothing" she said with a smile, as she wiped her tears away, and turned to face away.
He turned her around and brought her chin forward, "Why do you always say nothing? Does anyone cry for nothing?" he said smiling.
She smiled back though the tears were still prominent in her eyes.
He quickly said, "Kripa, you look ugh.... really bad while crying," she raised her eyes now looking furious, he continued playing, "your nose becomes all red. It looks all weird. You look like a joker"
"Huh?" Kripa said looking furious, "what did you say Josh?" she questioned walking in front looking angry.
"Nothing" he answered walking backwards to the door.
Once she had gotten hold of him she started to hit him on his shoulders, as he jumped around saying, "what are you doing Kripa? You will land me up in the hospital. You should join WWE" that got him another punch on the shoulder.
In the middle of their hitting session they failed to hear the door open and only when they noticed someone come in front and stop at the door did they look up.
It was Angad Khanna looking far from pleased at the sight that met his eyes. On the other hand, Kripa blushed at his sight, and quickly walked out of the cabin on the pretense of getting coffee.
****
Two hours later
Kripa was nicely sitting in her cabin engrossed in her report when she heard the noise of a door shutting. She looked to the side through the doorway to notice her boss was missing from his cabin. Perhaps, he had just left.
Getting up from her chair she stretched her arms only to see his picture pasted on the wall in front of her. He had placed a picture of his in this cabin for unknown reasons, and there was another picture in his cabin as well. Every time she sat ideally she got the feeling he watched her.
There he was standing with both his hands in his pocket wearing a pair of black pants a red shirt on top with a black coat overlapping the red shirt.
"Why are you staring at me?" she said looking at him angrily, as she crossed her arms.
"Hey mister," pointing her finger "stop staring at me," she said again fooling around.
Walking in front, she went and stood near the picture, then examined it... He had this unshaven look giving him a small subtle making him look all the way more appealing.
Hitting her head lightly, "Stop it Kripa. As it is its bad that you dream about him every night. Now, at least keep your dreams different from the reality."
Walking to the mirror, "On one hand you claim to hate him, yet on the other hand you can't help, but drool over him in those stupid dreams... The result is next day you are all nervous around him because you may give the wrong impression (ie drool again), which made him give you the title of "Miss Clumsy"." She said out loud looking at her reflection in the mirror.
These dreams better stop. But, how will they? If only she had never admired his personality, then perhaps she would have continued to hate him by his first impression.
But, then again if she had her way then she would ensure that the first meeting didn't take place.
It was her dream to meet him. But, if she knew the first meeting would go so horribly wrong, then she would have never ever met him. She would be happy and content with whatever she thought of him.
Now because of that first meeting she was all confused. Whether it was hatred or just plain admiration she had no idea.
Turning around she looked at the picture for one last time before screaming out, "How many times do I have to tell you don't look at me?"
Removing her dupatta she flung it on the top... covering the picture partially, feeling satisfied she went back to her desk and resumed work. Now, he definitely couldn't watch her through the picture (she is fooling around so don't take this seriously!)
****
Later, that night Kripa walked into Angad's cabin, and handed him the report. She had just finished it, and barely turned around, when she heard him yell, "what is this Kripa?"
"What sir?" she questioned standing near his chair
Banging his fist on the table, and throwing the file on her face he said, "Damn it, is this the way you work? What did you do all day today?" as he dug his hands in his hair, as he went and stood near the window in frustration.
"I do.... n't understand Sir. I did everything as per your instructions" she replied sounding close to tears now.
"You didn't even format it properly. Forget the format, all the pages are in the wrong order, and on top the entire report is not written properly. Do I pay you to fool around?" he screamed angrily, then coming closer, and holding her shoulders roughly he shook her as he said, "What do I pay you for Miss Sharma?"
She started crying right then. She really could not bear all this. He made her work like a dog all day, in the night she would have to go home and do all the chores.
How much could she handle?
"Stop crying now!" he said yelling at her, "I don't want all this drama."
"Just fire me okay?" she said screaming, as she lifted the file, "I told you already I am not fit for the position of a PA"
"Hey you...." he said running behind her, but she had already entered her cabin, and shut the door on his face.
****
She sat on the floor, and cried for a very long time. Somewhere behind the moon was rising behind her spreading its light everywhere.
She cried her heart out. This man was not worth her dreams or her life. He was worth nothing.
She was unaware that outside another man walked around with a girl in his arm, as he swallowed some bitter liquid from a bottle. This was the man that would change her life forever.
She cried till no more tears came, and till her eyes hurt really badly to the point she could not even bear to keep them open, nor close them.
Angad was her inspiration. He was her everything. In times of her misery she shared all her sorrows with him, but now he was being the reason for her misery.
His real life picture was a lot different than the picture painted by the media. Thinking of the picture she was reminded me of his photo in the cabin.
She quickly went to it, and pulled her dupatta away, "You deserve hatred Angad Khanna. That's what you deserve." kicking it she yelled, "You don't deserve someone's respect... you are a monster in the form of a man. I hate you for what you did to that girl. I hate you for your arrogance, for your talk, and for the way you speak to me like I am some kind of dirt or piece of garbage." Saying all that made her cry even more, and she fell on the floor crying
(you do realize she doesn't reveal all these feelings to him out in the open rather all her frustration or happiness is taken by the photo... This is sort of taken thanks to Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hain!) ****
New life... New day...
The sound of the train passing, birds happily chirping, children screaming wildly, adults jogging, and the distant fog in the air brought a smile on Kripa's face after a long time. She loved walking out early in the morning with very few people around; it was something that relaxed her. To see the little kids beg their parents that they were really "sick" always reminded her of her childhood.
She had seen very little of her parents. They had walked out of the house on the night of 1993 to never return back. She had been five years old then, and despite people comforting her that her parents would return, somewhere her instinct had warned her that she would never ever seen them. Since, then she had considered her chachiji, as her dad, and looked for her mom in her chachiji. Niyati filled the place of a little sister that Kripa never had.
She had never ever felt the loss of her parents. In fact, she had gained a younger sister, which she never had. Chachiji was a very nice kind hearted person, while Chachiji was strict – she ensured that Kripa learnt the house work, since one day or the other Kripa had to get married, while Niyati was the stubborn little sister.
She heard someone whistle.
Looking around she noticed the neighborhood bully Prithvi, who was apparently drunk. It was not unusual to see Prithvi drunk. The guy was completely spoilt, who would go chasing every other girl in the area, once he was done going out with one of the girls – she would be dumped, and he would go back to chasing some other girl.
He was a total bully – a complete "maavali & goonda", so very rarely one would ever dare to cross his path.
Kripa refused to answer him, and kept on walking, except he kept coming behind her with his bike, "kya baat hain Kripa?/ what's up Kripa? Kaha jaa rahi ho?/ where are you going?" she heard him say.
She still kept on walking until she felt him pull her tiffin. She turned around trying to pull it from the other end, which caused the tiffin to fall on the floor – And, there went her lunch.
"Prithvi, humhe akela chod do... kyun humhara peecha kar rahe hain aap/ Prithvi, please leave me alone... why are you following me?"
"uff, do I even need to answer that question Kripa?" trying to sound nice. He was blocking her path now.
"hum sab jante hain aap ke baare main... please humhe kaam pe jaana hain humhe daer ho rahi hain/ I know everything about you... please I have to go to work... I am getting late"
"Never!"
"What?" Kripa replied, not sure whether she heard the word 'never' or something else.
"On one condition, dinner with me tonight at 8-00 pm!" he said
"What?" asked a shocked Kripa, "No Prithvi, humhe chachaji se puchna padega/ I will have to ask permission from chachaji"
"I will talk to your chachaji, if he gives his permission, then we are going" he said
She looked at him for a few seconds before walking out of the gate in a very bad mood. Early in the morning only a black cat crossed her path.

Khanna Industries
"Rosy, where is Kripa?" questioned Angad, as he sat in his cabin speaking through the speaker
"Sir, I don't know. She has not come yet" Rosy truthfully answered
"What do you mean she has not come yet?" he barked angrily, taking out his frustration on the poor lady.
"Sir, she is usually here 30 minutes prior to work, but today she is more than two hours late"
"Okay" he said rubbing his head, "If she enters the premises let me know"
"Yes sir"
Switching it off, Angad interlocked his fingers, as he decided that he would have to pay a visit to Kripa Sharma's place today.
****
That night
It had been a long and tiring day for Kripa, as she walked around looking for a job. No one was ready to hire her, especially when she said that she was fired from Khanna Industries.
They would all raise an eyebrow. Barely a week in Khanna Industries, and she was fired, which meant she was pathetic.
At one point she had been so frustrated she had revealed that she had personal problems with Angad Khanna, the look she had received had been so horrible that she had been forced to run out of the office taking whatever left over respect she had with her.
"Bhaiya," she said, "what is the price for tomato today?" she questioned, as she played around with it.
"20 Rs/ kilo didi" he replied
"What?" she yelled, "but, yesterday only Anita bought it for 10 Rs/Kilo, then what are you saying in a day you increased the price by 10 Rs"
"Aree didi, didn't you hear that they are having shortages of tomatoes. All of them are destroyed due to the rain"
She raised an eyebrow, "Bhaiya, hum bhi subhe paper padte hain. Humme ulu banana ki koshish kar rahe ho kya?/ Bhaiya, even I read the newspaper in the morning. Are you trying to fool me?"
She continued arguing with the guy unaware that someone behind was watching her.
Angad Khanna had just entered the locality. Everywhere he looked he noticed garbage and dirt.
He had been looking around for Kripa's place when he noticed a girl wearing a simple blue suit standing in front with her hair left open arguing with the shopkeeper. Smiling he made his way to her.
"Bhaiya, agli bar se hum apki dukaan se kuch sabji nahin lenge. Aap humhe ulu banate hain humesha/ Bhaiya, next time I won't buy anything from your shop. You always fool me" said Kripa folding her hands looking furious now.
"aree nahin didi....." replied the man trying to explain only to be interrupted by another voice.
"Bhaiya, yeh kitne ko hain?/ Bhaiya, how much is this for?" said someone playing with the tomato the exact way Kripa had been doing it earlier.
The voice made her stop walking, and she turned around only to see the jerk Angad Khanna, in her locality.
"What are you doing here?" she yelled at him
"And, why can't I come here?" he asked bending in front, and smiling.
"didi" said the shopkeeper, "if you are insisting then I will sell you the tomatoes for less" now that he had spotted that rich man, he could easily fool him, and get away.
"Give me 2kgs" she yelled out, "And, how much is this cauliflower for?" she asked
The shopkeeper looked a bit hesitant, since he didn't want to say a low price, as he wanted to trick the rich man, and if he said a higher price, then Kripa betiyaan would never step into his shop. But, still the rich man would be worth losing Kripa, as a customer.
"100 Rs" he answered
"WHAT?" screamed Kripa throwing the cauliflower in the air, while Angad ran and caught it.
"Kripa, you are damaging his property" said Angad teasing for which he was given an annoyed look.
"Bhaiya, aap pagal toh nahin ho gayee.... 100 Rs aur cauliflower ke?/ Bhaiya, are you mad or something.... 100 Rs that too for cauliflower" she started yelling at him.
She noticed a two 100 Rs note being forwarded to the shopkeeper, she turned to look Angad saying, "for two cauliflower's"
The shopkeeper looked highly pleased with his deal. He immediately packed it, and claimed that the bags were extremely special, and managed to protect foods were nicely for which he was forwarded another 50 Rs note.
****
Angad stood outside Kripa's house. Well, who was he kidding it wasn't even a house?
There was a roof, which was just a huge metal piece covering the two slabs on the side, a small window in the front, and the door was not really a door, anyone could easily break in. But, then who in their right mind would break in?
He knocked on the so called door, and stood waiting until a fat plump lady stood in front of him. Her mouth dropped open, as she took in his appearance.
"I am here to meet Kripa Sharma," he said clearing his throat
The lady looked highly annoyed at the mention of Kripa's name he noticed.
"Come in.... Come in" she said giving a fake smile.
He entered the house, and sat on a small cot, which was not at all comfortable to sit on, since it was too shaky and weak. He thought he was going to break it, so he didn't exactly sit.
"Niyati Niyati betii" called out the chachi, she gave him a fake smile when he looked at her, "Niyati, aree kahan mar gayi/ Niyati, where did you die?"
Her last words did not impress him at all. God, Kripa lived with these people. It was so hard to believe.
At the mention of the name Niyati, a short girl, who was also fat, which explained Kripa's state. Her hair was tied in a ponytail at the back, and outfit, which looked worth 10 Rs... she came and hid behind the pillar smiling shyly at him.
He really wanted to clear his throat and say that he was not here for match making, but to talk about Kripa Sharma, except everything died when a man looking pleasant stepped in saying, "Aree Niyati ki maa kaun hain/ Niyati's mother who is here?"
At the sight of Angad he just stood in his steps, and said, "aap?"
Angad immediately got up, and said, "Angad Khanna... Kripa ka boss" he answered shaking hands with the man.
"ji humhare garib khane main kya kaam tha?/ yes, what was your work in our poor house?" the man replied trying to get the point.
Before Angad could say anything, the lady looking like a buffalo screamed out, "Kripa, make tea please, we have a guest" he threw her a disgusted look. He didn't like the lady one bit, she looked like the type, who would sit around doing nothing, and he disliked people, who did nothing, but just boss around.
"I am here because I need Kripa for a important deal, which is taking place in Mexico." Said Angad truthfully
"What did he say?" said the chachi with her mouth open
"chup karo/ shut up" replied her husband
The man looked like he was in deep thoughts, then a few minutes later he answered, "I give you permission to take my daughter ----"
"oho ji what are you saying?" said the chachi looking furious
"tum chup karo/ you just shut up.." he said throwing her angry look, "so what was I saying? Uhhh ya, you can take my daughter with you... but please do take care of her. She has been my responsibility since her parents have passed away" looking sad the man got up and added, "the poor girl has always been brought up in my shadow. I am scared of sending her, since she can very easily get lost. I have full trust in her that she won't do anything wrong, but I am worried that she shouldn't get lost in the crowd"
"Don't worry Mr. Sharma." Replied Angad catching his hand, "Kripa will be my responsibility, and I will make sure that nothing will go wrong. I assure you this"
That's when Kripa walked in the room with a tea in her hand. She had dark circles visible under her eyes, her hair was tied in two plaits, and she looked really vulnerable standing there in front of him – like, she would fall down any second. She looked really weak and pale. He wondered how he had never noticed this.
"chachaji, what is he doing here?" she said turning her gaze away, as she placed the tea on the ugly desk in the side.
"Beta, he is here to ask permission to take you away for a important deal" replied her chachaji as he smiled. He was happy to send Kripa away, as it is his wife tortured the poor soul a lot, maybe if Kripa went away for a day or two she would have a change in surrounding, and feel better.
"But, chachaji ---" she said turning around frowning.
Only to hear Angad interrupt her as he replied, "Ah Miss. Sharma, I would like to talk to you for a second outside."
She shrugged her shoulders, and stepped out into the night air, while behind her she heard Angad say, "acha chachi, i will take my leave now"
"Beta, you haven't even taken tea" said chachiji lifting his tea.
"Some other day chachaji. I am in a rush right now" Angad replied, then the two men hugged, and Kripa heard footsteps.
"Beautiful night Eh?" said Angad standing behind her.
She looked at the millions of stars in the sky staring back at them, "why are you here?" she asked sounding annoyed
"Kripa, again, I am being forced to remind you to speak to me properly. I am your boss remember?" he said out loud patiently
"But, I got fired" she yelled back, "so, I can speak to you however as I please"
"Um sweetheart, sorry to disappoint you, but unfortunately I am still your boss, since you are not fired" he teased
"What?" she asked frowning, "But why?"
"Are you telling me Kripa? You did all that on purpose to ensure that you would be fired?" he was now looking really furious.
She didn't know what to answer to that, so she just let matters slide down. After a few minutes he said, "I am coming to pick you tomorrow at 4-00 am. Be ready"
"For what?"
"We are heading to Mexico. Why do you think I came to your place?"
"I am not coming with you"
"too bad you are. Now, you have no excuse that your chachaji won't agree because I just took his permission" he replied walking to his car.
"Why does everything have to be the way you want it to be?" she asked sounding angry now.
"Because I am the boss. And, if I say you are coming, then you are coming" he replied
"Fine, have it your way you stubborn ass!" she yelled out loud, and walked back inside.
