The mother daughter talk was really needed. Roshni has realized that her mom has made some valid points. She is now at least willing to accommodate Sid.

Chapter 9 - Unknown Emotions

It was about 8 in the morning, when Roshni drove to the airport frantically, checking the time repeatedly on her watch. Her flight was at 9, yet she was only driving there now.

As soon as she stepped out of the car, she ran to the airport desk, giving them her passport and boarding pass.

Roshni dragged her heavy suitcase to the clearance desk at the airport to board her plane. She was only going for a few days, yet she packed more than ten outfits. She was a fashionable woman after all.

Her eyes searched for Siddharth, he said he would meet her here, but he was nowhere to be seen. Roshni already made up her mind, if he was going to be late then that was not her problem.

After a few minutes, of waiting she decided to just go in and take her place instead of waiting around for him. She didn't want to text him either, it felt awkward.

"What the...", she muttered as soon as she entered the plane.

There he was, already sitting down on the window seat, listening to music and humming loudly. She mentally cursed herself. Of course he was early.

She went over and crossed her hands in a judgemental manner.

He noticed her staring at him with a murderous look, removing his headphones, he faced her, "What?"

"You're in my seat", she gave him a sarcastic smile.

"Right.", he scattered over to the seat beside it.

Roshni was a bit taken back at how he didn't fight over this, as usual. But she considered it as peaceful. So it's not like she could complain.

"Also you're late Ms.Patel"

She rolled her eyes, "Yeah right, I'm not late, you're just early".

He didn't reply, he just continued playing his songs loudly not giving a care about anything else.

Roshni couldn't help but wonder if something was off. The atmosphere felt weird. Something inside bothered her, maybe guilt. She brushed it off, thinking it would be stupid to apologize to him.

Her insides felt heavy, especially thinking of the conversation she had with her mom about him. He went through his share of pain too, and that of course makes all the difference.

He didn't seem sensitive like her, yet there was something about him that day when he tried to comfort her. Something unspoken, yet painful.

Whatever it was, she wasn't sure if she was ready to confront it just yet.

After a while, the plane began to take its course, making Siddharth turn off his electronics. His eyes wandered off to her for a second, and observed her features softening.

She appeared to be lost in her thoughts, her eyebrows tensed and her hands were curled up into a fist.

He decided to snap himself out of her thoughts recalling their conversation before. He had no right to intrude into her personal life like that, and she made that very clear to him.

So unless she would tell him otherwise, he wouldn't budge.

He recalled going home and just getting distracted repeatedly by the image of her tender expressions.

He laid his head gently against the chair and closed his eyes. Roshni, on the other hand took out one of her files to read.

"Boring as usual", Siddharth cleared his throat.

"Did you say something, Mr.Khurana?"

"No", he faked a smile to her.

Roshni observed his cold tone and abruptly closed her files, "If you have something to say, you can say it now"

"Do you have a problem with my silence, Ms.Patel?", he countered.

She gulped, did she? She was supposed to love the silence, but something was eating at her inside.

"No, why would I? I love it. I was just wondering if you're sick - "

"And what made you think that?"

"Well for one, you're usually a chatterbox"

He scoffed for a second before retorting, "Usually"

"But sometimes it's better to stay quiet", he lowered his voice.

The colour drained a little from Roshni's face, and that's when she realised the tiny piece of hurt flashing in his eyes.

Little did she know that, he wasn't hurt by her words, he said that because he feared hurting her. Not the other way around.

She moved in her seat closer to the other side and glued her eyes on the window. 'Why should she care, if he was hurt?', she asked herself.

She knew she had been harsh, especially by saying, he looked like someone who had never been hurt, despite knowing he had lost his father years ago.

But he also shouldn't have put his nose in her business, her ego stated.

It still bothered her, to hurt someone.

"God I hate this feeling", she muttered to herself.

Perhaps, she was aware of how it felt to try and be there for someone, yet getting no recognition or kindness back.

He had already witnessed that excruciating side of hers, where she screamed her emotions, now how was she supposed to face him?

For the rest of journey, she just went into deep thinking about everything that had occured in her life so far. From the person she was, and the person she turned into.

Was this really her now? An endless cycle of negativity?

*

Milan. The beautiful city of Italy. One of the main capitals of fashion and design.

Wearing a short green summer dress that cascaded off her shoulders, she descended from the plane, her white heels brushing against the pure white staircase. She slipped on her sunglasses, and took in the view before her.

It was magical, even the aura of the place felt different. A special kind of different.

People surrounded the streets, with their families running around and laughing. It was cheerful, and a part of her just wanted to get lost in the city's beauty.

The captivating rich buildings in front of her lit up beautifully. There were drivers rushing to her, to greet her in Italian and offering to take her to her destination.

Siddharth, wore casual jeans and a summer white shirt. He started stranding around the place, observing the little details. The serene environment enticed him. All he wanted to do was walk around all day long.

He had never been to Milan before, despite his many vacations. It was like love at first sight.

Roshni interacted with the drivers in the little Italian she barely knew and they picked up their baggage to place it in the taxi.

As they travelled in the car, she gazed out the window and let out a deep sigh. It was her first fashion show that she organised. She helped her mom many times in the past, but that was when the whole cheating boyfriend fiasco happened.

This time, it was all her. And Siddharth of course, but he only showed up recently with his own designs added in. She had been planning this for weeks.

Siddharth, like a typical excited child, stuck his head out the window taking multiple pictures of the buildings they crossed. Roshni saw this and couldn't help but think back to her mom's words.

"--At least try Roshni. What makes you think hurting someone else, or stopping someone from caring about you, will help?"

Her thoughts once again, wandered off to him and she couldn't help but be grateful to how professional he was behaving in relation to the fashion show especially since that nerve wrecking conversation between them.

Her thoughts got interupted, when the car came to a halt in front of a building, that said "Hotel Gallia". By the looks of it, it seemed luxurious. The people walking inside, were all wearing chanel or prada.

'He really went for the most expensive one', she thought.

Her driver opened the door, and signalled them to go in with his hands.

She could barely understand what he was saying, but assumed he meant to go inside.

Roshni entered the hotel, gazing at the golden decorations inside. There were sofas at the lobby with glasses coated tables in the middle. It appeared to be so cosy, yet so spacious.

Siddharth followed her inside, going straight to the lobby to receive their room numbers and key cards.

"Sir, we would like to apologize to you for the unplanned delay, however you and Ms.Patel's rooms still need to be cleaned due to the last minute booking."

Siddharth thought about it for a while and took a deep breath shifting around to Roshni who was staring at the mystical paintings on the wall intently.

His mind drifted away for a second and he looked back at the man behind the desk and requested politely, "Is there no room available in the process?"

"You have paid a lot for this hotel and it's services. It is an honour for you and Ms.Patel to be hosting your show here. So as a repayment of this, our manager wishes to give you our best suite available in the process. However you will have to share it, just for a few hours that is."

"It's much appreciated, thank you. Just let us know what time our rooms will be available."

The man handed over the key card to him, again apologizing for the delay.

"We're going to have to share a room", he casually put out standing beside her.

"What?", her head snapped at him.

"It's going to take a few hours for them to organise ours. So in the meantime we'll have to compromise."

She blankly looked on.

"Soo..do you want to go to our room now or continue staring at me like a robot", he called out.

Roshni sighed and walked on to the elevator.

*

The ride in the elevator was quiet, and Roshni wished he said something, anything. It was better than just standing like two strangers.

Yes they weren't friends, but if this silence continued, how were they supposed to discuss the fashion show?

The silence wasn't like the one during the walk after the party a few days ago, that was more comfortable. This one was screaming unusual emotions, yet none of them spoke it out.

Roshni sensed herself being out of place, especially knowing Siddharth had seen her emotional side the other day. And Siddharth had never dealt with someone who couldn't face her own emotions.

All he could think of was, how it hadn't even been a proper week since they met but somehow, they already crossed so many lines with each other. Emotionally.

When they reached the top floor, they saw their suitcases right outside their room, waiting for them.

Roshni rushed to the front of their door, to avoid the blooming awkwardness and used her key card to open the door revealing a magnificent hotel suite.

She stared in awe, at how unreal it looked. Everything was white, including the sofas, the furniture in the tiny kitchen and of course the white marble on the floor. What caught her attention to the upmost level, was the exquisite terrace.

It took over half of the wall, with light pink curtains complimenting it. It no doubt, was better than hers back at London.

Behind her stood Siddharth, who settled on the bed with his suitcase.

He had paused at for a while and a sense of satisfaction, rushed over him, when he saw her standing at the window curiously.

Her eyes were up at the blue sky, and the glowing sunlight reflecting from it.

'What is it with you and nature?', he pondered.

Realising that she wasn't the only one in the room, she unzipped her suitcase and removed her laptop. She whirled back around and came to a halt seeing the sight before her.

He.Was.Sleeping.

'Is he for real?', she murmured.

His eyes were closed delicately, outlining his long eyelashes, his hands were placed on his side. He looked so peaceful. 'Was he actually sleeping?', she bewilderingly questioned.

She tilted her head at him, and for the first time, she noticed his features in detail. The innocent expression, she was right. He did give off those childish vibes, but at the same time there was something uncanny about it.

She shook her head from the distraction and her eyes fell back down to the laptop in her hand and this time, what she saw was her utmost horror.

She shrieked. "AARGHH". She let go of her laptop, causing it to smash on the floor.

"WHAT? WHAT?", Siddharth woke up with a jerk.

"Are you okay?", he panicked getting up and rushing to her.

"NO NO IM NOT", She breathed heavily.

"What happened?", he touched her face examining her as if she fell or something.

She unknowingly put her hands on his shoulders and pointed to the floor.

Siddharth tracked what she was scared of and that's when he saw it.

A large eight legged mighty spider crawling on the floor on the bits left of her keyboard.

Siddharth burst into a loud laughter, which filled the whole room. Roshni glared at him in anguish. "HOW CAN YOU LAUGH AT THAT THING?"

"It's cute"

"CUTE? Oh my god, it's official I'm partners with a psycho"

Siddharth continued chuckling and Roshni just froze in her place.

After noticing her serious expressions, he stopped for a while and got an idea.

He smirked, and slowly took a step forward beside her. He raised his fingers to her arms, and traced it up and down as if it was an insect.

Roshni's eyes widened, "IT'S ON ME.. IT'S ON ME..GET IT OFF!!!!!" She ran around the room shaking her arms.

Siddharth was having fits of laughter, seeing her in panic mode.

She grabbed the pillows on the bed and threw them at him not caring about the mess she was currently making.

"I AM GOING TO KILL YOU SIDDHARTH"

Okay so that took a wild turn at the end 😜, I know nothing really happened as such in this chapter, it was more of a filler if you think about it in that way..However, I wanted to write a chapter simply about their emotions. I haven't written something like that in a long time, as this story has been heavy on dialogues. So I felt like a chapter solely on emotions was necessary.

If you know me as a writer, you know magnified emotions are my usual style of writing whether its the description of them or the dialogues.

God knows how many times I've rewritten this chapter lol and now im finally satisfied with it. This was, I guess a new shade of Siddharth where he's confused and he doesn't really know how to react. And Roshni too, she's wanting to do what her mom said, but she doesn't know how. There was silence between them, yet a lot of feelings surpassed.

hey readers! so i havent updated in more than 2 weeks nearly, i think? but i will be updating tomorrow for sure! so until then, if you need a recap you can find it below, or else you can go and read the previous chapter(s).

Recap - SidNi found out their moms had originally planned for them to meet and fall in love. Hence why they became business partners. Roshni was angry at her mom and ended up taking a bit of that out on Sid who began observing her pain and how she deals with it. He was hurt a little bit by her outburst and decided to distance himself from her. The next day, when she went back to the office, she found that he left her a note that he'd be working in his own office from now on. She couldn't help but feel an emptiness including guilt.

In the previous chapter, we saw they're in milan for a fashion show. Roshni noticed how distant and different he was being towards her, and didn't feel right about it. They arrived at their hotel and since their rooms weren't ready yet, they had to share one for the time being.

At the end she got scared by a spider and Siddharth teased her for it laughing hysterically. "I AM GOING TO KILL YOU SIDDHARTH"

Hope that helped to jog your memory! Until tomorrow, bye ♡

Before I start, if anyone needs a recap, there is one just above this post! Enjoy reading!

Chapter 10 - Satisfaction

"I WILL KILL YOU SIDDHARTH"

Roshni lunged multiple pillows at him, making him duck his head each time in amusement. He brought his hands forward to dodge the pillows that broke into scattering pieces of cotton on the floor.

"All this for a spider huh"

Roshni blew at her hair sideways, and widened her eyes at the mess before her.

"Crap", she muttered.

He was still chuckling at the way she got scared at a mere spider. It was unexpected, considering the fact that she potrayed herself to be fearless.

"So who knew, THE Roshni Patel was scared of spiders"

She cleared her throat in embarrassment, "I'm not scared...I just think they're creepy"

"Sure. I believe you", he teased.

"Shut up Siddharth"

She jumped off the bed fixing her clothes and removing all the cotton that surrounded her. On the other hand, Siddharth's hair were full of them.

"It was your fault anyway", she glared.

"How would I know, you'd start tearing up all the pillows? And you called me a psycho"

"1.Of course you don't know anything, you're dumb. 2.You are a psycho, because who the hell finds spiders cute. And 3.You look like a spider yourself, you probably descended from them and attracted them here", she sassed the end bit.

"Oh really? If I'm descended from a spider, then what are you? A cockroach?"

"Are you scared of cockroaches?"

Siddharth scratched the back of his head, and replied "Maybe"

"Then yes I am", she proudly stated.

"Oh come on, you're the psycho. You smashed your own laptop"

Her expressions immediately transformed in realisation, "NOOO"

The pieces of the screen were laying on the marble floor, along with the individual letters popping out of the keyboard. She sat on the bed dejectedly, holding her head.

"What am I going to do now? That had everything"

"You're lucky I'm here.", he brought out his own, and handed it over to her.

"Don't you need it?"

"Nope. Until our rooms are ready, we can work together, and even then, I'm okay with using my phone. Just try not to smash it if you see a spider again", he playfully rambled on.

"Finally you did something useful", she cheekily answered.

"Did your mom never teach you to say thank you, when someone gives you something?"

"She did, but only to people who deserve it"

"OUCH".

A glint of joy played around his eyes observing how she was back to her old self with him again. Her words didn't affect him, it was the fact that she appeared to feel comfortable enough with him.

Roshni positioned herself against the upper bed frame turning on the laptop.

"We have a rehearsal with our models tonight along with a small meeting with the Smiths, so we need to get our designs in order"

Siddharth yawned, "This is going to be boring"

"Everything's boring to you. Except partying and joking around right?"

He cutely smiled, "Hmm, oh how you know me so well"

"Because I'm smart", she cunningly replied.

She was hoping he had the same files of the designs she specifically chose for the fashion show. The laptop eventually turned on, revealing his wallpaper. Her eyes lingered at it for a second, and back at Siddharth.

He went to lie down beside her, curious as to what she was looking at.

It was a picture of a three year old toddler, holding the hands of an older man. The background showed white sand and a running deep blue ocean behind it.

His lips curved into a tight smile, "That's my dad"

Roshni couldn't help but find it adorable.

Siddharth in the picture had chubby cheeks, and he was laughing looking at his dad.

"Your smile hasn't changed", she blurted out.

"Yeah, but situations have", he sighed quietly.

It was obvious, he was referring to his dad, and this didn't go unnoticed by Roshni. She clicked on the files seeing that it was in chronological order making her life much easier.

Siddharth yawned again, disturbing her focus.

"Would you stop yawning?", her tone grew irritated.

"It's not my fault I'm tired"

"Why are you so tired anyway? Too busy partying?", she assumed.

"What is it with you and blaming me for partying?"

"You give me those vibes"

"And what about the hotel? Did it plan itself? The tickets? The files?", he snapped a little.

"Ohh", it awkwardly hit her. He was probably up all night, organising their trip.

"Im going to sleep for a while, wake me up for that rehearsal in three hours"

She shook her head, and stood up leaving him to sleep. Working with a tired body and brain, she knew that pain very well.

It would be better if she let him sleep, so their rehearsal and dinner could go better too since he's be refreshed. Or else who knows, he'd be yawning every 5 minutes.

She opened the door to the balcony, where there was a small garden table with it's chair. The sun shone through the windows catching her face along with the blooming fresh air.

'At least he wasn't ignoring her or making the atmosphere awkward like in the plane', she thought

Hours passed, and she sipped on her iced coffee, still working through the designs while contacting the corresponding models. It had to be perfect, it wasn't going to be easy living up to her mom's expectations.

For Siddharth it was boring, but for her it was like a passion.

She shut down his laptop gently, not before staring at the wallpaper one last time. It was true how she reacted earlier.

He still had that smile, everytime, it wouldn't leave his face at all ever since she met him. He was always joking around, teasing and cracking those lame jokes.

He lost his dad, an excruciating part of his life, yet that happiness still lived through him.

She placed his laptop on top of his suitcase and ran her fingers through her hair, scoffing when her eye caught him sleeping.

"Siddharth wake up", she raised her voice a little.

"Siddharth?!", he still snored.

"SIDDHARTH"

She moved his shoulders back and forth vigorously, until he jumped up

"Who sleeps like that? I thought you were dead"

"I'm a heavy sleeper", he shrugged.

"The rehearsals starting soon, I've already used your reports on the designs and altered them a little to our team. They'll have them ready for tomorrow, for now we'll use what we've got"

"Great. What about the Smiths? Did you finalise it with them? Considering they're the ones sponsoring this event?"

She bit her lips, "I forgot about that"

"That's fine. I'll talk to them tonight"

"Okay....Well get up, we have to get ready"

A while later, Roshni came out of the bathroom wearing a white gown outlining her curves just at the right places.

She lined her lips with light red lipstick, making them stand out. Siddharth, wore a brownish suit with a black shirt inside.

"Are you ready?", he asked her.

"Yess", she grabbed her purse and followed him outside the room.

They took the elevator straight into the hotel lounge where the workers were clearing up the chair and tables making space for the runway.

Roshni clicked her heels against the floorboard with style signalling she was in the room.

Roshni went ahead to interact with all the models, and even fixing their hair and makeup herself. Their new jewellery line was bound to stand out.

If she didn't impress the Smith's, they wouldn't sponsor the show hence leaving their reputations in turmoil in the media.

The Smiths were one of the most influencial agencies in Milan, mainly known for bringing fashion industries from merely good to the best.

"Ah Good Evening Ms.Patel. Mr.Khurana"

"Good evening Mr.Smith", they greeted back.

"I apologise for the short inconvenience on my part. You had to rush the fashion show"

"It happens. It's not a problem", Siddharth shook his hand.

"This is my wife", a tall slim figure from behind him emerged.

They greeted her too, and glanced at the clothes she wore. Roshni's was amazed by her fashion sense. She was after all, a huge fashion icon.

"So tell me, what influenced you both to become business partners?"

Roshni and Siddharth's eyes rolled to each other, reminding them of their parents plan.

"Well, our moms were friends and furthermore, we had started to be friends too. So we decided, why not take a leap?", Siddharth lied a little to cover up the pause.

"Right. We decided it would be a great idea, and look where it brought us", Roshni joined in.

"Interesting. I could never, considering the fact that my partnership with someone else would probably cause ruckus. I am not one to share my workload"

Siddharth gave Roshni a knowing look, she was like that too. From the start, it had been difficult for her to even trust him, but he hoped, she did at least a little.

"I was like that too, but sometimes people can surprise you", she asserted with a little smile.

He couldn't help but glue his eyes at her in shock. Did that mean her opinion of him not caring about his work, finally change?

"Why do you look so shocked, Mr.Khurana", the man observed.

"It's not very often, your partner compliments you", he eased his tone a little making the man think he was joking.

"You're right", he turned to his wife. "The amount of things we have to do to get a compliment from our woman", he laughed making his wife hit him playfully.

"OH NO NO. We're not... we're not like that. We're just friends. Nothing more", Siddharth was weirded out including Roshni who froze on the spot unpleasantly.

"Really? The whole media talks about your relationship. In fact recently, there was an article mentioning your possible break up"

Roshni furrowed her eyebrows, "Possible break up? Relationship? As you know Mr.Smith, the media is basically another source for gossiping. How would we break up if we've never even been in a relationship?"

Siddharth rubbed his temples, he kind of knew this was coming but didn't want to mention it in front of Roshni. The minute he decided to return back to his office and work there, it was obvious the media would exaggerate.

But you can't base all your decisions on what they could or could not report.

"Mr.Khurana here was seen going back and forth from your office yesterday at night, and it said he was trying to avoid you, because you pushed him away"

Roshni gulped, trying to maintain her strong figure from faltering. They weren't wrong, technically she did push him away, but it was still ridiculous how they had no privacy even on these things.

"Like I said, the media is known for making things up."

"So you do work together?", he confronted them making the atmosphere uncomfortable.

"Not exactly. We just go back and forth sometimes", Siddharth as usual used a relaxing tone. However he did tense up a little when he saw Roshni getting out of her comfort zone. He wanted to change the topic.

"A piece of advice. If you're going to be partners, stick together. Work against the problem together, if there is one. Not against each other", he patted them on the shoulders walking away.

The rehearsals started and SidNi took their seats respectively beside the hotel managers and the Smiths. Roshni remained lost in her thoughts due to his recent words. She had to say it to him, there was no other way.

He was right, they had to work together not against it.

Music began playing in the background, while models stranded through the runway, strutting their hips from side to side, showing off their clothes as well as the jewellery of course.

Roshni grew stressed, and distracted herself by focusing on the models. They did exactly what she told them to do, and their jewellery line was looking better than ever.

Everyone was astonished and clapped throughout. "I must say I am very impressed with your designs. I haven't witnessed such a magnificent fashion line in quite some time", he was mesmerized by them.

"Thank you", they both felt relieved.

The conversations deepened as both of them engaged in a friendly conversation.

Roshni was talking to his wife who complimented her husbands success, and explained how he went from being a poor man to one of the richest, today. She was inspired and thought about how she desired to do the same.

One day, her company would no longer be called DD industries, but be called by her name. Of course she wanted her mom's legacy to live on, but everyone has a dream, and this was hers.

Siddharth and the man bickered about life in general, and he cracked jokes making the man love him. "You know not many businessmen are so light hearted, you'll go far one day with that attitude. I can see it. It's unique"

Siddharth chuckled and thanked him, it wasn't so boring after all. "So will she. Her passion for fashion is intriguing. I can't wait to see the actual show tomorrow.", his wife excitedly shrieked.

Roshni breathed in and out, feeling the overwhelming emotions coming in through. Not even her own mother at times would recognize her passion for fashion, but this woman did. It gave her hope.

Eventually they called it a night, after talking for hours on end.

Siddharth and Roshni stayed in the lounge sitting down tiredly calling the hotel room service to bring them their dinner

"Food has never tasted so good", Siddharth exclaimed

"Mmmm", Roshni devoured the chicken pasta in front of her in minutes. The Smiths talked a lot, and they hadn't gotten a chance to drink or eat.

"I was very impressed with your designs", Siddharth flattered her.

"It had yours too"

"Yeah, but you were the one who added the alterations"

A tingle hit her lips, making her smile, "You haven't seen the best yet. Wait till tomorrow"

"Mrs.Smith was right you know, you're going to go far one day", he confidently uttered piercing his eyes into her.

"How do you know that?", she shifted around in her seat to face directly at him.

"I can see your passion for fashion. It's enticing"

She glanced at his expressions for a while before facing down. "Thank you", she whispered to him, getting a bit emotional.

Siddharth lifted his fingers to his ears, "Did I just hear right? You thanked me?"

She shook her head, "Maybe I did. Maybe I didn't"

"Well you're welcome".

Siddharth picked up his plates, along with his phone getting ready to leave.

They were going to have a long day tomorrow, with all the preparations and he needed sleep for that. As soon as he got up, Roshni let out an exasperating sigh.

"Siddharth?", she softened her eyes up at him still sitting down.

"Hmmm?"

"Don't leave"

First of all, I'm sorry I took quite some time to update. I will be trying to update faster. Second of all, how are you all?

How did you find this chapter? I loved SidNi's dynamic in this one, and Roshni growing softer, and acknowledging more things about Siddharth. I hope you liked the dialogues too! The last dialogue, "Don't leave", has a lot of emotions attached to it. So we'll see more about that in Chapter 11!

Also I am always welcome to criticism, so please be honest about how you find the chapters!

Until next time, bye.
