Yes, she is there alone... and thats the progression. Both have to realize what is at stake here. I will have the next chapter on Chandu and Keya Didi at Maheshwari's office so we can peek into his mind
Chandu loves her dearly. For him being away from Keya is a test too.

Lets see how it all comes together

I love 90 things about being an Iyer I HATE 10 things. So I am selectively passing on only those things that are kind and respectful about Hinduism

I am shunning the bad things, so I will never teach my kids those. My kids will take that 90 and find out they only like 80 or 70 things...

No wonder, nobody is a "pure" Iyer anymore, like they used to be. My Dad does not have a kudumi/bodee, does not wear the traditional dhoti (just the regular one). My Mom does not wear a 9 yard saree. She only wears it twice a year, or once max. They dont fast 25 days a month, we dont have a havan for every small festival like we were supposed to

I wonder Nisha, speaking of us, except for the Iyer food I cook at home if there is anything else purely Iyer in us. Even on vegetarianism , all three of us are vegetarians only by choice and not because of any Iyer practices binding us. Many many of our close cousins and their kids are not. The moving out of home our close family circle happened in the late 70's and integration to another home place , the kind of assimilation they thought required happened almost three ... four decades back.

But do I follow Iyer traditions at home. Do our cousins follow them at home... of course yes... but in a way we understand them and not in the way our elders practiced them. Very true, my daughter is a vegetarian only by choice and not because she is an Iyer. Hubs though has a fully stocked cabinet at home. It remains that way 365 days irrespective of who is visiting us . I don't have any moral standing as a parent to impose that on her as I see She has enough cousins in our close family who see one hand ...love to eat anything that flies, the family's elders are completely aware of stocked bars . I count myself purely lucky because I don't hv to battle that guilt in my head at least with food everyday .

In a way I should say it's ironical, but I'm looking at elders in my family as the ones who have integrated or assimilated nicely to the new non Iyer practices of the younger generations. We are a large family but we remain proudly tight knit and gather together frequently without fail whichever part of the world whenever we have to and the family elders are a huge part of those gatherings because each one of them blend generously.

Woah .. this is a googly . He left on Tuesday and it's five days and he got home chandu on Saturday..
Chandu Agreed willingly to come home to Bareilly to see keya...
Speaks of how much chandu has gone through in all of this.

Ironical again teeku should actually feel replaced by keya and not Anyone else. Then Does it mean teeku chose to remain in Delhi for the weekend ?

Wow. Nisha Looking forward to reading the next chapter on chandu. 👍🏼
