She was not focussing on the Streedhan, priya. The word Streedhan has brought the nagging question in her - who is funding her army? where is the money coming from? She was physically and mentally drained out. mann hi mann main, she has decided to die. She wants to solve the puzzle before that. And if that involves her People being troubled for that cause, she wants to eradicate / help her People before she dies.

Chandra knows if she knows the truth she will take the right decision. he knows her that much.
Again, you have understood the UNSAID. I was going to cover this later.

does a whispered rumor really exist? and is it really always true? what if someone starts a rumor just to malign someone or to settle some old score or some personal vendetta? Sorry just asking out of topic.

Aree, even Neha asked this question. Generally, the Raja Rahasya contains details of the secret tunnels / passages of the fort, trade secrets, the King's Impostor used mainly for Public Appearances, information on Rani getting pregnant (the Queen who get the heir for the Throne would be titled Patrani. So, if one queen gets pregnant, the other queens would use the Vaidji to ensure her abortion. Yep, Ladies Harem Politics 😉) , child born to an enemy king (who has been defeated / killed) being raised in a different location, etc... etc...
Such secrets are always true.
Such secrets are generally passed to the next person, ONLY in the ears - as a WHISPER - that too, by keeping the hand covering the mouth while speaking the secret (so that nobody can understand the lip movement also). And generally, the whisper would start with "nowadays we hear that... or There is a talk in the town that ... "
It is called a RUMOUR - coz you can't verify the truth associated with it. Because if you tell someone that you know the truth, you will be killed first. And the culprits always get away, by saying that somebody spread the rumour for personal vendatta. That answers your next question.😃
So I used the word "Whispered Rumour". I dont know whether such word really exists in the Dictionary 😲

So Padma has some Alibaba type cave with unlimited treasure?

Yes, Cave(s) with unlimited treasure. That is why Nandini had a small box of ornaments which were unique keys.
This is partly history and partly fabricated story. I read that the real Nand King in history was hoarding a lot of gold leached out of his own people (refer bahubali where people were whipped and ornaments were taken by force from people)... He also excavated a lot of gold from the gold mines. it seems he constructed dams near Ganges river and made his own secret caves near the dams.
They used this information in a different way in the CN Show. I used this information to weave my own plot.

I'm happy that Lopa too finally confessed. I think she now saw that there's no use hiding now as Vaid already told her.

yes, once again you captured the UNSAID emotion. 👍🏼 But, she withheld the information, not because she was scared of getting beheaded. She primarily did that, because of her love for Nandini. Because she knows Nandini will be heartbroken if she knows that her father was only using her.

Poor Nandini. the truth was really a rude awakening o the harsh reality to her. She was never a treasure for Padma. So all the ornaments were keys to secret locks in that cave? So why did her father take only that locket and not the other ornaments? I assume the locket was a sort of a master key? So Padma looted the Magadh people and hoarded those in the cave? he was using money from there in the war?

@BOLD - Because other instruments he can take from her room, but the Master Key securely lying in her neck has to be taken from her neck na 😆 All your other assessment of Padmanand is correct.

Poor girl totally broke down knowing the truth. such a bitter truth. She unknowingly was a part of the reason the people are dying. she has blood on her hands. its just too much for her conscience. her alter ego came at the right time. it showed her the right way. Now she understood Vaid actual words.

@BOLD - Yet again, you captured the UNSAID emotion

Was dhananand the one who tried to molest Lopa? any girl with such a father and brother will always be ashamed of her family.
Men, especially in power, used women as play toys - both for personal benefits and also political benefits. Women - especially the one in flesh trade, the dancers, the courtesans, the gypsy girls, even those people in the religious side like the Monks - were all used for political use to extract information. Women as such were treated as weaker s**, and in a tyrant king's rule, even men could not talk. phir aurat ka sawal hi nahi ut ta.
Nandini has grown in a Palace and knew that her father, brothers and generals were all womanisers - thats why she was impressed by Chandra's integrity in the first meet.

I loved how endearingly Lopa replied her.
So now she wants to die but give proper justice to the people. How swiftly she reacted to Lopa talk about her enemy. She really considers him her husband now. I think Nandini wants Chandra to distribute the wealth in all the people. it's their hard earned money. she wants it to go back to them.

She threatens Lopa when Lopa talks of the enemy death. he is shocked to know her suicidal plan even in his deep thoughts for his plans. whenever there is a slight chance of danger to one the other is full alert.

This is exactly what Chandra also spoke about - The Greater Good. I wanted the reader to feel the similarities in them - how both their thoughts sync, how each feel for the other instinctively, etc. And, you have yet again understood the UNSAID words and emotions. 👏

Lopa teased Nandini about Chandra. But she didn't react. Lopa persisted as she understood Chandra topic comforted and cheered her up. So she knows him only by his eyes and scent. She is so eager to know him well. I think by his real face she meant she wants to know his mind and heart well. Oh wow she even drew the eyes. Chandra wants to find them how sweet. something that she made for him. a real treasure for him. For her his eyes is his identity now.

@BOLD - Chandra is searching for the treasure that belongs to Magadh - His People. But, the paintings are HIS PERSONAL TREASURE. The proof of her love for him. Something he would always cherish.

Lopa has really observed Nandini so well else she would not have known about the perfume.

Once again, the UNSAID info.. A servant, a friend who has stayed so close to Nandini would observe everything about her. Like your mother knows your favourite food, your favourite clothes, your favourite Deo... So I expected the reader to know automatically what Nandini would keep close to her heart inside her chamber.

The perfume connected him to her. Oh wow that horse ride is such a romantic scene. I'm sure she didn't mind being kidnapped then. A romantic kidnap. He was trying to memorize that scent. Vaid helped her understand Chandra. He just could not control himself I think. Marking his mate seems a special way to express it. But yes he kidnapped her as he didn't want to let her go to someone else. possessive. Staking claim.

Yes !! There were two things that was on my mind, when I wrote "Marking his Mate" :
He indirectly gave her answer to her fear - "Chandra will not marry his arch enemy's daughter now"... He told her indirectly SHE is HIS. She was already marked as his mate by him. He staked claim on her long back itself. He wanted her to know that he had not forgotten her. Her scent. He gave her Hope to Live...
Also, I wanted to say - that each of us have our own way of remembering / identifying our love. Nandini was able to paint - so she remembered by painting his eyes over and over. He grew up in a jungle. He remembered her, by remembering her scent.

Strange Nandini didn't doubt why was Vaid so eager to explain this action of Chandra. It wasn't something that was worrying her like the stree dhan so affecting her health. This shows that when talking of Chandra she is totally lost. So the horse ride was their quality time together. I'm sure Malayketu won't protect her modesty rather try ruin it.

Her fever was running high. She was fatigued. She had just undergone a shock about the truth of her Father, and about the Treasure, and the injustice done to her People. She was already feeling dejected. Now she is engaged to Malayketu as war alliance. Her daughter-like sister Neela's wedding is stalled because she and Nalini are not married yet. So, her thoughts travel to getting the easiest solution possible - make Nalini wear the perfume so that Chandra gets attracted to her...

May be, I should have put it this way in the Chapter, I think... I was in a hurry to post it. So, may be, my words were not that clear. Should i post the above para there for other's benefit?

@BOLD - My mistake. I will edit this in the Chapter. It is Krishnavardhan. Thank you for pointing this out, dear one. Shows that you have really spent sometime, letting the story sync in. Thanks

She is just deluding herself now. She really feels Chandra just likes the perfume so will like anyone who puts it on? all the revelation is taking a toll on her now. She should know that Chandra likes her. he likes the perfume as she uses it. He can't like any random girl. I don't know why she believed Nalini lie even after knowing how she is. Lops tries to drive some sense in her. Lopa is right. Nalini knows Nandini likes Chandra and has a soft corner for her so just uses this to hurt Nandini. She can't defeat her otherwise so hits her below the belt. Nalini knows that she can't ever match up to Nandini in merit. I'm happy Lopa is trying to drive away this idea from Nandini s head

Lopamudra is a sister, a best friend, a loyal servant, a confidante and advicer to Nandini.
I realised that Chandra always had Chanakya as his right hand. Nandini also should have someone whom she can trust na? So, here Nandini has Lopa as her bestie.

She was planning suicide but he told her he can't let her die that way. she will only die as an old lady with children by her side

The flashback is not complete yet... I will try to explain this in the next chapter or so.

I think I am a very emotional person so I understand emotions to some extent. My parents love me equally. Their own relation made me sensitive. Many around me have also influenced me. It's rightly said that your upbringing and it's atmosphere shapes you a lot as a person. Same for Nalini. She grew up in bad company. Her 2 sisters were also there but she felt them weak. I think this is what they mean by rassi jal gayi par bal nahi gayi. Kingdom went but the attitude remains. Wow even I didn't realize I added a new emotion to the line. You really brought out fear concern and hope so well with that single sentence. I'm amazed at myself. Nalini's genes are bad. But luckily Nandini had got her mom even if for a short time who gave her the right values and morals.

Lopa impressed me a lot. I don't blame her at all for her fear and hesitation to speak out. All she did is proof of her bravery. People mostly treat them as servants. But if one treats them with love care respect they prove to be better than friends. They can do all for the ones they love. I know in palaces and royal places even walls have ears so they have to be extra careful. I'll wait for karma to hit Avantika badly. It's both her instinct and her experience that helped her analyze Chandra on the few meetings they had. Experiences make a person more mature. She is slowly becoming a princess from a daughter. Padma is slowly ruining her princess persona. I like this slow change. You want to keep the suspense of Chandra acting that way. I'm sure he has a good reason. Yes I remember Padma had announced Malayketu Nandini marriage in her incomplete swayamvar. But it's a political marriage.

They really will make a perfect pair. Both are so similar in their thoughts and ideas. In Nandini Avantika talk Nandini was confused. But here Chandra guides her in the right way. There it was a lost confused Arjun. Here it's Arjun with all the answers. Chandra really is so mature now. He understands problems and resolves it so well. He acts on code language so well too.
Your words touched me so much Di. I'm elated your found my comment so good. I think we have a special bond. We understand each other well. I want to hug you too.

Streedhan triggered her doubts and questions. She wants to do her duty till her last breadth. She can't die in peace with the unsolved puzzle. I get it. She is a thorough people's princess.
Apart from the time when the king is kidnapped and it's kept a secret is there any other instance where his imposter is used? I'm sure it's told only in the ears as walls have ears. So the culprits use the excuse that someone made a rumor on them while they actually spread it themselves. Thanks for the explanation. It makes things a lot clear now.
I can imagine Nand doing all that. Stealing poor man's wealth and hoarding for himself. He's a proper thief. I like how you weaved it in the plot.
Lopa cared more for Nandini than herself so she was worried for Nandini reaction than her punishment
Padma knew Nandini was the most responsible and trustworthy so gave her the master key. Else he could have given it to someone else too. Sly as a fox.
Men from times immemorial used women as playthings and treated them as subordinates. Used to extract information? How? Engage someone with a woman and then extract secrets from him? I know how tough it's for a woman to speak out in such a rule.
Nandini knew Chandra was so different from her father and brothers so was impressed
