I am in a Holi committee at work for diversity month

I cant wait for it to be over

No clashes yet

But I am TERRIFIED of the big egos and the "I know the most" "I am the best" "If I do this I will get a promotion" "I invented India" "I invented Holi"

"I invented Indian participation at the American workplace, before me NONE of it existed"

"I have political ambitions I am masking it under a culture champion role"

I am so done with any kind of super ego or any negativity ! As long as I'm in the same wavelength, I engage. Otherwise I politely excuse myself.

My inner circle has reduced over the time (friends and relatives). I open my heart and am brutally honest with them.

Outer circle - I am like u happy, me happy'. I don't mix groups ! I have seen that cause a lot of unrest as well.

Will be interesting to know what you people think as well !

The Day & "The guy

The day arrived. Avantika had to be squished and shoved to be woken up.

"Ma hum 4 baje soye hain, is there something called compassion in your dictionary? she scowled

"Shaam ko shaadi hai, UTHO Himani plonked a pillow on her head

"I just need FIVE minutes

"Teeku, aapko humne teen baar five minutes diye Himani was unforgiving

Teeku sat up on her bed

The first thing she noticed was how soft her arms and legs had become with all the scrubbing and rubbing 24 hours ago, it was densly patterned with henna all the way upto her knee and almost upto her armpit

All on Meeta's insistence

Her brothers had wept last night as they sat on her bed teasing her

"Aapko tang karne se pehle Harit se permission leni padegi hamey Dhruv sniffled

"REALLY? Bhai? REEELY? she made a face

"Do u like him? Vibhu asked not looking at her face

"Hes OK I guess she shrugged carelessly swiping on her phone

"Aapne kahin ghoomne jaane ka plan kyon nahi banaya? Dhruv questioned

"Well.. its too late NOW she guffawed

"Ma hamey keh rahin thi aap saari saari raat jagkar baton mein lage nahi? Dhruv asked

"Ma is torturer extrodinaire hain she made a face

"Chandan Chandan nahi karna wahan jaakar achha? Vibhu patted her head

"AB hum kyon karenge? I will be living with him na? she laughed hard

"They are very traditional and simple, waha jaakar Saturdays ko shorts nahi pehanna achha? Dhruv waved a finger

"You sound like Mom, except u have a beard she cracked herself up

She felt his chin, they both tackled her on the bed, she lay face down gasping for air

Meeta came in to tell her the photographer wants some night shots

"Bhabhi ask him to get em when I am dead she screamed

"TEEEKU... KHABARDAAR Meeta warned

Teeku sat up rubbing her wrists

The siblings posed for pictures all over Teeku's plush room, it was elegant and luxurious, many things in her favorite color lilac.

She had spent months picking out furniture and accessories, she was her Dad's favorite, and he openly said so to many people, offlate accompanied by weeping

If Srishti and Hemant had not died Teeku would have been long married

Chandan's care and custody and pushed it out against Shyam Gupta's willingness

The help brought her breakfast

"Hum bahar kha lenge she smiled kindly

"nahi... aap to andar khao aaj, aapko tayar hona hai she smiled shyly

"9 baje hain subah, shaadi 10 baje hai kya? she argued

"Teeku, enough... baraat is at 9 and phere is at midnight Bani was enjoying irritating Teeku

"And I am supposed to start NOW?

"I guess so... my Mom let me sleep in until Noon Bani pretended to yawn and she winked

"Your brother was so annoying, so thank god I got my sleep she whispered

"TMI TMI TMI Bhaabs... PLEEZ... I dont need to know... its kind of gross she made a face

"Teeku... don't say that beta Himani walked in shaking her head

"ma I don't want to know what Dhruv bhayya did to her

Himani giggled

"buaaa will you come next week? Surbhi asked longingly

"SHORE! Teeku promised

"Shes lying Chachi said she will never come from Bareilly Vivaan was making Surbhi upset

"Vivaan... no beta Himani scolded as the kids ran out yelling

Bani was tidying up her room

"Mom is she bringing Harit here?

"No beta... phere phir bidai Himani looked confused

"Sorry Teeku u will have to make out next time she said gleefully

"I am not gross like you Bhabhi she said smugly

"Mom inko sunen Bani scoffed

Himani was visibly uneasy at Teeku's complete disinterest in her groom

"U cant keep teasing her about sex na... aaj kal ke bache hain beta, they probably already know everything, she is not goingt o say to you, yes Bhabhi I will make out on my bed Himani whispered to Bani

"Ma... quit gossping about me Teeku yelled her mouth foaming with paste

"Pehle dhang se brush karen aap.. aur sabun se haath nahi dhona mehandi hat jaayega

"I cante ven shower? Teeku asked shocked, spitting into the bowl

"Meeta Bhabhi will help you or Devika or your cousin shikha, don't go shampooing your hair, its very long it will take forever to dry and the stylist will be here at 11

"ELEVEN? AL-AV-EN? Teeku was befuddled

"U think u Will be ready at noon? Hum bata rahe hain raat ke 10 baje make up shuru hoyega Himani was weary

"Who needs so much make up for a wedding? I am not doing a photo shoot. This is just so crazy Teeku mumbled as she ran water in the sink

"Quit moaning and complaining about your Mom Himani walked over and hugged her

"Ma I don't even KNOW THE GUY Teeku burst out crying hugging Himani. "He is a lwyer, kitne boring hotey hain Ma. They are SO DULL. Siraf kaali pant pehante hain aur white shirt. Gawd!

"Shshhshshsh she consoled and cooed to her

And smiled

She was finally a little relieved that Teeku actually thought about the groom
