Part-6

All the soldiers assembled outside ready for the mission at hand.Their weapons were,they stood at attention,their faces set with determination.....Raj stepped out.."every ready?" he asked.."YES SIR!" came the reply of the 20 soldiers assembled their..."gr8! then lets go for it..." sed raj with a fire which spread to even the weakest of hearts...the soldiers begn the journey to their positions where they wuld stay for the next 48 hours..on guard...

"wait a minute colonel.." sed shalini... every1 turned.."i think...i think we shuld pray..." raj nodded....n for a minute..weapons were forgotten, hands folded..they all prayed...prayed for their family..prayed for their frnds..prayed for each other..n above all...prayed for the country.....a few minutes later, the tedious task of climbimng up the snow covered mountain began..one by one, as they reached their stations, they all assembled at the given spots. waiting...waiting for the first move.....

40 hours passed...their hands and feet were numb with cold..all they wanted to do was sleep...wrap a blanket..sit in front of a fire....but they waited....without a sound..knowing very well, that the enemy wuld strike ne minute....n he did....a huge bomb exploded at the foot of the peak..and the action began....

huda n alekh were the first to spring up,guns ready...naina n ali followed suit n then pooja n ud...all the soldiers fired from their positions..avoiding th bullets fired at them, yet trying to take as many of the enemies as possible....the once-cold air was now hot with the flames and smoke fro the exploding bombs and the firing guns...temperatures soared as the soldiers battled long and hard.....ud had a flashback to his childhood,playing a videogame where he wuld fire the enemy...jus like he was doing now..but this was no videogame..it was reality....

8 hours of heavy battle...n the horn sounded...they'd won...won the first round of this battle...the enemy retreated....n our soldiers collapsed...bodies lay moaning,sum dead....the sight was terrible...heart-wrenching....but the doctor who rushed up jus cast a blind eye at it..taking the help of the un-injured soldiers..she tended the wounds, n helped shift the injured back to the camp....the dead...were buried...

a few hours later,back at he hopital wing of the camp, as shalini tended the colonels wounds, he asked.."ne of our soldiers..." "no colonel..our soldiers r injured..but none of them r dead..." raj jus luked down..he new....they had been lucky..n this was just the beginning...who knew wat wuld happen...."ne1 seriousely injured?" he asked. "lekin haan...cptn naina singh ke left arm mein bullet lodged hai..." raj luked up as if an electric shock had gone up his body...he got out of the bed.."raj...where r u going?? u need rest before.." shalini tried to stop him but he was off to th other side of the tent..where naina lay...

the other drs tried their BEST to remove the bullet...but naina culdnt take i..the pain raced up her arm...she clenched her fist..but it was of o use...she culdnt stop that scream from escaping.....raj saw it..her pain..he felt....n he also saw wat the doctors were doing....."STOP IT!" he cried.....everyone luked up at this cry..."yeh koi tareeka nahin hai! u cant force a bullet out...the pain will kill her..." he pushed thru to naina bed where she sat...her face contorted in pain, and her eyes wet with tears which she culdnt stop from flowing...the top of her arm was a bloody mess....the bullet was lodged deep....

raj walked up...gently....he took her arm....n worked on the wound...his very touch sent shivers up naina arm...intense shivers...her face culdnt be stopped from blushing..n even in this intense pain,she felt her eyes longing to look into his..her heart longing for him to say those 3 beautiful words.....n sumhow..jus lukin at him working so carefully...with so much concentration..for her..,,lessened the pain....her mind drifted back to the times at KMA...her times with him..everything..from their first coffee date....to the first time he had hugged her...after he had sed those 3 magical words 2 her....

"DONE!" sed raj..interrupting her thots...she watched as he carefully bandaged her arm...n gently plaed it by her side......he luked up, n smiled.."dint take much,did it?" n naina culdnt stop her smile eithe...n she nodded..."no..it dint.."

"i think I'M the dr here..."sed shalini with mock anger..n then she laughed..all the other soldies laughed...even the junior doctors who had been told off so severly a few minutes ago by raj culdnt resist his charm....the air relaxed as every1 went back 2 watever they were doing...

except for 1 person.....this 1 person luked up at naina..her smiling face, now engaged in a hearty joke with raj n pooja...n he knew....sumwhere deep within..that no matter how much he consoled himself..her heart had already been taken...he knew...that she luved him...she luved raj.....'n yet..' he thot..'i luv her...' n huda turned away..noing that he was trying to fite a lost battle..the battle..of luv....
