Chapter 232- The Grandma's room, Private Talk

Vindhya opened the room in the far corner. It was the room of Sudhir's dadi Rajalakshmi Varma. Post the death of dadaji, dadiji had spent her remaining years in that room in poojas and prayers. Post her death Maheswari had ensured that room was always kept cleaned a tulsi mala put on the bronze statue of Krishna in the room. Maheswari personally attended to it and only when she had some inconvenience Renu or Vindhya went there.

Maheswari had clearly told Vindhya that she has to personally ensure the upkeep of the room till she was back. Vindhya started cleaning the room, while Suman came with Tulsi Mala. She was entering the room for the first time. But as she entered it she felt as if she knew everything about that room. As if the walls spoke to her. She had seen the chandelier, she has seen the almirah, she has seen the Krishna. Yes after his nanu the person Sreedhar was most connected was his grandmother and mother. He had used to speak to her about his dadi. How she was always in her room. Talked about her room. How his dadi used to tell him bed time stories and even during teenage years he preferred to sleep in her lap. He used to tell his dadi was always pleasant. Even the death of his dadu couldn't take away the peace from her countenance. It was when he was doing degree she had passed away.

" Suman what happened. Why are you standing there and staring. Put the tulsimala on the Krishna" told Vindhya as she had finished cleaning.

" Nothing bhabi, I was just thinking though I am entering this room for first time, I feel as if I have been here for ages " told Suman.

" Sreedhar might have talked to you about Dadiji. Well he was dadi's laadla. Her Krishna. Suman dadiji was a big devotee of Krishna. It is said that after Sudhir's two bua's it was told that if dadiji didn't had a son, dadaji will be asked to remarry. I had heard Maa telling Dadi used to cry in front of Krishna statue on why such an injustice to her. Then Papa was born and she was happy. But then Chitra bua's suicide broke her " told Vindhya.

"Chitra bua suicide, as per Sreedhar it was an accident" told Suman.

" No Suman. It was suicide. It was made to look accident. Sudhir knew about it when he accidently heard a spat between Dadaji and Dadiji. Reason was she was forced to marry a forty year old man" continued Vindhya.

" Sreedhar's dadu was like men in my family" told Vindhya.

" Yes somewhat. But it is said that Chitra's death mellowed dadu to some extend. Not sure what happened post that, but atleast dadu didn't attempt such marriages for other two bua's" told Vindhya.

" Come bhabi, we have to prepare breakfast and reach the shop also" told Suman, Vindhya nodded and accompanied her. But even after entering they couldn't stop discussing Chitra bua and only when Sudhir called out they stopped chatting.

Maheswari was with Latika Mami in her room. Marriage arrangements were happening in full flow and there were guests coming and going. But somehow Latika Mami managed to bring Maheswari to her room for a private chat.

"Maheswari by evening more guests will be there. We also have to go to the groom's house for Tilak ceremony. Then tomorrow haldi, sangeet and wedding and then it will be time for you to go. I wont get time to talk to you. So now don't worry about wedding arrangements. There are enough people out there to manage everything. "

" Bhabi I know what you want to talk. I am happy that you and Bhaiyya approve of my decision" told Maheswari.

" Why we wouldn't approve Maheswari. The one week Suman stayed here believe me I completely liked the girl. She is well bought up. Knows to respect elders, have good values and knows to keep relations. Though a widow, to be frank as per me she is a kanya in every sense, so I don't think Rajasekhar will have much issue" told Latika Bhabi.

" Yes Bhabi. That's one thing about her. Her marriage with Murali was not consummated. So I feel though it will take some time for my husband to accept the match he will come around. "

" So when are you planning to tell about it Maheswari. I don't think you can put it out too long. Already I guess alliances are coming for Sreedhar" told Latika Bhabi.

" Yes Bhabi. Here and there questions are coming from parents of eligible girls. I need some more time. Before taking it to Sreedhar's Papa I want to know what other family members feel about it. More than that, I want to know what Sreedhar and Suman feel about it. I don't want to impose my decisions on them" told Maheswari.

" Fine Maheswari. I hope soon everything goes fine and I will be able to have Sree and Suman here as newly weds" told Latika Bhabi as they both got up to join others in kitchen.

I love the chats both of Vindhya and Suman along with the chat of Maheshwari and Latika bhabhi.. the best part was both know the other person so well and are so close despite being in totally different circumstances. Where Vindhya has come from a loving family to being wife of a man who though was decent to her.. she wasn't his choice or anything that he wished for in his wife. While Suman is from horrible family to being a widow but yet loved by her in laws and also is the dream girl of the guy whom she considers her man. Maheshwari from a liberal family to a conservative family. A brother who inspired her but her husband kind of a coward.. can't say a total mcp but supports mcp behaviour of many. From a friendly atmosphere to a controlled one.. Latika bhabhi's mayka details bit is a mystery but she has a very supportive husband..a person who is like an inspiration... all 4 have had different circumstances and yet the closeness is amazing

Shruthi didn't get what you meant by every women's problems are same. And also how can a mature lady always ensure that relationships are managed? It's the same bhabhi who brought up both Shobha then how did she turned out like this? I mean will u be showing how she turned out like this? Once Suman-Sree marriage is done or announced won't it affect the relationship between the sisters?

@Ria if you sit and discuss as a woman leaving roles you will find that you have endured most of the things another woman has endured. From eve teasing to managing relations post marriage they will be one and the same. When we discuss in roles like wife, mother etc it appears different.
