Chapter 224-My Papa

When Sudhir and Suman entered Varma Mansion they could feel that Maheswari was looking much tensed.

" Sudhir beta let me make some hot tea for you. Suman I have not answered anyone. If phone rings please attend. " told Maheswari as soon as she saw Sudhir.

" Maa I don't need tea. I..." and for the first time Maheswari saw her son who was most composed emotionally break down like a child.

" Sudhir what is this. You have been the pillar of support in every crisis for the family. We all are here. Calm down" told Maheswari as she made him sit beside her on the sofa.

" Maa isn't it a fact that I had wanted a boy. It is also a fact right I was unhappy when Nami was born. So whatever is written in that poster is somewhat true right" told Sudhir wiping his tears.

" Sudhir wanting a son was your wish. As much as the need to go to US and do higher education.You decided to let go of your dream for your brothers. Since you made the choice you don't feel bad about it.

In case of Nami you didn't make the choice, Mata Gowri made the choice of giving you a daughter. Your wish was not granted and you needed some help to accept her direction. Beta to have a wish is not wrong. Even I had wanted a daughter, especially when I was pregnant with Sreedhar. When he was born I was a tad disappointed at first. Another boy. I already have three. Just then the phone rang and Suman ran to pick it up. It was Ankush on the other end.

" Ankush Bhaiyya. Suman here. Don't worry. We will handle it. You please proceed with your campaign. If anything asked about us just tell answer will come at 8pm. Then she told him her plan"

Ankush was impressed. He felt Suman should have been his Public Relations Officer. He chatted with her for some time asking some questions and when he was convinced he wished her best of luck.

When she came back Maheswari was able to settle Sudhir and had bought tea also for both of them. As they drank tea, Suman went through the script Sudhir should speak to Nami once again.

Setia looked at Mahantji " What is this Varma's telling that they will give reply at 8pm. Mahantji will we get a googly "

" Setia keep quiet. They will be trying to tell something to save their face. They might be consulting on what to tell. Whatever justification they give, the impact created by those posters wont go away and tomorrow also voters will see those posters"

By 8pm there were many news reporters in front of Varma house. They wanted to know what the announcement that was coming. Sudhir came out with Vindhya and Nami. Nami held her father's hand. In addition there was Goraji, his wife and child also.

" Sudhir Sir is it a truth that you didn't want a daughter" asked a reporter

"Sir your family is talking so much progressive things, still your mother had to sent you to Gurgaon when your daughter was born " asked another.

" See it is a fact that I wished for a son and was disappointed a bit when a daughter was born. But you need to understand.." started Sudhir

" Sir so it is a fact you were disappointed when daughter was born. So the son of Varma family is partial towards a daughter and so the posters are right that you are not a real hero or the family that ..

" If someone give you strawberry ice cream when you want chocolate ice cream do you like it " jumped in Nami in between.

" Beta you should not talk among elders.." a reporter tried to calm down the child. They had not expected this.

" Why I shouldn't talk. You are telling so many bad things about my Papa. Do you know anything about him. When I was inside Maa the doctor asked him whether he wants Maa or me. You know he entrusted Maa with doctor because she needed doctor and you know whom he entrusted me with. He entrusted me with Mata Gowri.

Mata Gowri send him Goraji uncle and aunty. That hospital was not treating aunty because uncle didn't had money. My Papa gave them money and doctor did operation of auntiji and Babloo was born. Because my Papa helped in saving auntiji and Babloo Mata Gowri protected me. My Papa trusts Mata Gowri a lot. " told Nami hugging Sudhir.

Before reporters could come out of the shock of what Nami told Goraji stepped forward.

" I don't understand why such a noble man has to be attacked. I am sure Sudhir saab would have still chosen Bhabiji if it was a son. Even I would have done the same if it is between my wife and child. That day I would have lost my wife and child if Sudhir Saab was not there. Instead of putting effort to defame a noble man, why don't you people go and investigate on the hospitals that deny medical care to people like in case of emergency in the name of rules and procedures. If Sudhir saab hadn't wanted a daughter he would have easily killed her in Bhabi's womb by what you people call scan. Go, go and talk about people who do that. I strongly feel this is done by the people who want to defeat Ankush Bhai saab in the election" completed Goraji.

Before reporters could wind up Sreedhar stepped in " Mud slinging has happened on my brother's character. We are going to file a defamation case against Aravind Setia and his sons for doing this "

" Sreedhar Varma do we have any evidence for the same" asked one reporter.

" We are filing complaint as we feel it is a political vendetta for supporting Ankush Setia. It is the police's job to find proofs" told Sreedhar as the Varma's wound up the press conference.

@Sandhya what can you expect. But he doesnt know Suman😆😆. When he finished learning Sudhir, someone else came. 😆😆

@Rakhee the problem happens when u try to run away from truth. Mahant and co has always won when people did things to hide their true feelings. When things are accepted for what they are , they dont know how to deal with it. That's their downfall. They dont know true relations which stand strong in time of adversity.

Nice update... loved nami... she loves sudhir very much... suman's plan is awesome... btw after finishing seven vows will you publish seven vows or write another story here??

Thanks Sandhya. after finishing seven vows, i need to look at how publishing goes. Heard it requires quite a lot of work. So need to check out, how will I balance everything.

Chapter 225- The Ugly Fight, Appreciation

" Great idea. I should have known whenever he brings idea it is going to be a flop. He couldn't even handle his niece who rejected the man chosen by him" shouted Setia as the media reported on the defamation case that is being filed.

" Don't blame him, your own grand son Dheeraj is in charge. He has started investigating. If possible try to stop him" told Mahantji.

" What is he doing here. Doesn't he know someone out there who can stop Dheeraj" Setia pointed at Rupinder.

" I am on suspension. Thanks to all you messing up one thing after another my name ended up in the charge sheet for that Mahima Das rape case. Now I am just hoping they don't find any evidence against me " rued Rupinder.

" Ok now we are responsible for you being charge sheeted. " shouted Praveen Samrat.

" Yes you all are responsible. If you had kept quiet instead of going after that widow woman Suman I could have put better effort in saving me. Now this Mahantji is out of the charge sheet, but I am trapped. That lawyer Amit Rathore is very mean. " told Rupinder.

" You have been paid enough money Rupinder. Don't blame everything on us " told Mahantji.

" Enough everyone. Don't fight like cats and dogs. What is lost is lost. Atleast let us try to ensure more damage is not done. Setia try to ensure the defamation case doesn't reach you. Also look at the political funding and ensure that the money is tracked. I hope we all can do this " hissed Prathana Devi. Everyone nodded but animosity was clearly visible among all of them.

Varma family assembled in the hall. They were happy. TV was showing the news of defamation case raised against Setia and investigation happening on it. Dheeraj had come to Varma Mansion and assured them that he will be looking into it. Already Ankush had called and told couple of people who stuck the posters were arrested, Dheeraj and his team was trying to extract information from them.

Sudhir had kept Nami in his lap and she snuggled happily against her Papa. She had come crying seeing the posters. Sudhir had slowly talked to her. Then Vindhya, Maheswari and Goraji's wife also spoke to the child assuring her very much that her Papa loves her so much. Once the girl was convinced Suman gave her the script on what she should speak to media. Now Sudhir felt in a way those hate mongers had helped him. A burden was off his chest. No longer will that choice stand as a thorn between him and his daughter.

" Can we proceed for dinner " asked Maheswari

" Yes Maheswari, but before that I want to tell something. Today our family pride was saved by the timely action of Suman. She has to be rewarded. I know you will buy gold for all your bahus for Diwali. This time buy an additional pair of Kankan, necklace and earring for Suman from my side. She deserves it " told Rajasekhar.

" Papa.." Suman tried to tell.

" Suman Papa is giving his blessing to you as gold. You should accept it happily beta " told Maheswari and Suman nodded.

That night Suman read the letter Sreedhar had given her

" Sumi Sudhir Bhaiyya tells you have won a big battle today by standing up for our family pride. Papa has got a good impression on you and it will be easy for me to make him understand why I chose you as my life partner "

She kept the letter close to her bosom tears streaming through her cheeks as she took the tedy with other hand and looked at it

" Sreedhar my whole life I have lied to keep the image of my family. How can I even tell you this is ingrained in me. How quickly I had to find answers to the reasons for scars on my arms and legs when teachers asked, my class mates asked. Today I used it only to speak the truth " . She hugged the tedy close slowly drifting to sleep.
