If II lost the baby and peri appa the man who lived and saw life for 70 years it's RB'S loss too after his mom it's his baby now
II has her parents and sis whom she can always gon back too (am ignoring the sam and ranjan part here bcoz very rarely I see such nice ppl exist at the In laws side😲)

RB has only II with whom the guy opens up or reveals his true self

So well said father has also lost his child but he has to make a strong face in front of his wife as wht experience taught me is that only your hubby love and support can somewhat ease the pain
And so console a broken wife husband has to be strong after all it's his loss also

Yes it is utterly painful and one always thinks of the baby one has lost. It takes a moment to get emotionally attached to the unborn...the feeling is incredible. I hope II doesn't start feeling guilty that she wished the baby away. She anyways talks and say thing she nineteen to a dozen, this one just came true. Would love to see a tender update where RB and II console each other, dealing with their loss.

Missing...

"What happened?" he rushed to her side, as she slid, almost falling to the floor

Ranjan turned away, pained...

"Are u OK?" R&B cooed, gathering her

"It all seems like a bad dream, I was throwing up TWO DAYS AGO" she looked at him with blood shot eyes

"I know" he nodded

"I mean, how can everything change so drastically?" "I am not supposed to be having cramps, and umm.. u know.." she reached for the wrapping of her hygiene product and tossed it across the walk in closet

"I am sorry" he whispered, kissing her hair, and staying there...

"I am in so much pain... so much pain, like my insides will explode" she sobbed uncontrollably

"Lets go to the doctor" he begged

"Its period times 5" she agonized

He walked her to the bed, lay on her side

"Where is Nivi?" she asked

"Downstairs with Sam" he said

"This is SO EMBARRASSING" she shut her eyes with her hand, moving her head side to side on the pillow

"I mean Dad... knows... how embarrassing" she complained

"Umm.. hes had three kids II" he said gently

"What a mess" she muttered

"Lets get some food inside u" he said gruffly

"I am not hungry... just so sad... its a punishment for not wanting him... I rejected him and he went away" she said staring at teh ceiling

"what are u talking about?" he looked baffled

She caressed her belly...

"Dont say that... thats not true" he warned

"Nivi is 1.5, and I was afraid of throwing up, post partum depression and all of it u know" she shut her eyes painfully, tears streamed on both sides

"Lets go out for a walk with Nivi, do u want to go to Versailles?" he asked

She sniffled, blew her nose... and shook her head

"So unexpected and so painful" she muttered

"U need to relax... and let go" he said quietly

"Bacha tha mera" she said vacantly

He lay back on the bed, looking at the ceiling

"I dont know what to say II... I cant undo the last week for u" he said

"I know... I know... I know... I know..." she shook her head painfully

They lay there for many minutes, motionless

Ranjan must be in the office in somewhat a similar position
He had to walk through the bedroom to get to the living room

He wanted to go down and be with the kids
Or go to Spectrum, he wanted to go back
This was not a trip he had planned... in any way

He had caught his son rough housing with his wife, in the walk in closet in the last visit

He had picked her up by her waist, from her back, as she flailed her arms and legs

"I asked u not to touch it II" he warned gruffly

"I" asked you NOT to put ur biking jogging, hiking gear IN MY CLOSET" she shrieked

The sounds were muffled and the door got shut, and sounds turned into guttural groans
He had walked into his office nodding in approval at his DIL's pluckiness

That girl was missing today...

For Appa, dude is nothing short of a 'CRADLE SNATCHER'.

The cradle snatcher who atrociously barged in to his own house , shut his kozhandai' s bedroom door on his face in his own home... how dare he...spent a cool one hr in her room proposing her with a Cartier ring as if 'appa' the man of the house did not exist outside and lets himself out of the room and appa's house brandishing an imaginary sword to his face with the glint that Nisha mentioned in his eye, as if saying with a swagger...pls butt out of our way, your daughter's taken and it's our business and we don't need your permission or approval '!! And this he did it with a unassumed swagger that dude himself does not know he possesses. I doubt if Appa would have ever felt as helpless as he did then because his kozhandai in his cradle was in a way snatched away from him. Talk about the beaten ego and pride of a father who in a way bought this upon himself.

And the problem's compounded by Dude even further after marriage who is a ' hatke' Punjabi who tails his wife with an unmatched personality of his own who , forget doing a little to bridge the cultural gaps , does not even bother to pretend to do anything about it, that his wife insists.

The cradle snatcher took his kozhandai, imposes himself on her and places undue demands on her body without a rest...making her go to depression after the first baby, unheard of in the family and now a miscarriage his kozhandai suffers not soon after, another unheard in his family

On the other hand, unknown to appa the target of his hate has his own battles to face...

IF ONLY PEOPLE HAD IT EASY TO 'ACCEPT' PEOPLE FOR WHO THEY ARE...sigh...

Talk about helplessness..when something's snatched away from you even before you realize that you have it and come to terms with it... it's tough as it is and then soon after it's equally hard to come to terms with the reality that you've lost it for good like the mini version of them ... the baby that was in the making here ...It's such moments I think that you feel that what's the control we glibly assume we have over life .

Philosophically it's as simple as ' you know... it wasn't MEANT TO BE... Damn ... Pray why wasn't it meant to be...The absolute worst sinking feeling without a doubt in life is the helplessness we feel over certain situations than the situation itself. The worst thing to Go thru is force consoling ourselves to ACCEPT. 😭 .

Super like Kalpana..so agree with you. And what is this with the Iyers each time, "this has never happened in our family before".. is it some sort of a rebuke of the other family or saying that you have been punished because you married outside or is it just living in a big IYER bubble that this hasn't and can't happen with Iyers or simply in this instance Ammas innocence, a casual remark that this has never happened before in our family.. this really caught my attention and I was a bit annoyed.
