ME TOO. (Just the 90s.) I have seen Main Khiladi Tu Anari, like 45 times. I remember all the lines. Also Amaanat. Suhaag. Tu Chor Main Sipahi.

My bro and I begged dad to take us to Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi. When Rekha and AK got into shower together, dad hauled our asses off theater Which reminds me. I never bothered finding out what happens next. ***Runs to youtube.***

This is SUCH a weird coincidence. Over the last week, I've been binge-watching 90s movies (as I tend to do when things become stressful) and I've been on an Akshay Kumar spree. So far I've rewatched Khiladi, Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi, Sabse Bada Khiladi, International Khiladi, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Zulmi, Suhaag, Waqt Hamara Hai, Keemat, Hum Hain Bemisaal, Lahoo Ke Do Rang, Daava, Tarazu, Insaaf, Mohra, Jai-Kishen, Barood, and Dhadkan (which isn't a 90s movie but only just.) Soon going to pitch a gender analysis of Akshay Kumar's 90s films to BuzzFeed India. And drop out of school.

The early 90s ones are better. He got better as an actor later but I lost interest.

Watch Sapoot. You will be in tears. Sangharsh is poor man's Silence of the lambs with one awesome song. Amaanat is hopeless with one decent song. Yeh Dillagi is another MEH remake with some nice songs. Ikke pe Ikka has some worst twists ever. (A moron ties rakhi to a villain and calls him "bhaiyya". Voila. Villain turns into a new leaf. Literally 20 seconds.)

Actually I was lamenting Tandon in that song... but you are an Akhsay Kumar fan as well... then the divide is to wide to be bridged... sigh!

The nonsense I have put up with because of my inexplicable Akshay Kumar love. I've seen all of the above except Ikke Pe Ikka which I will also watch while on this spree. I think we put up with the early 90s ones because we didn't expect anything better from the early 90s. (And because Akshay embodied a strangely likable version of that alpha male hyper masculine trope that I have analysed to death and failed to understand, but that is a separate matter.) There is really no excuse for anything like Rowdy Rathore or Chandni Chowk to China or Kambakth f**king Ishq post-2005 (incidentally, all films that I've cringed through).

P.S. I think KKG and ASR need some obscure Akshay Kumar songs in their letters. I'm sure you have the expertise.

Yup. Two generations of my snotty elitist extended family (including a very judgmental little sister), not to mention numerous baffled friends, have tried and failed to deconstruct my Akshay Kumar fangirling.

Although, even the little sister has a sheepish tendency to rewatch the aforementioned Dhadkan with me on TV every now and then. So no one is REALLY immune.

Yeh Dillagi is probably the only one I remember... Remake of Sabrina, right? Ole Ole Ole... But the rest... I might have to reconsider this beautiful friendship. Yahaan to asooli ikhtilaf aa gaya hai. Laughing.
