A 90s kid, yes. But very late 90s. Almost less than two years away from 2000. :v But let me barge in anyways. (and since I'm not from India, I'm clueless about cable TVs as well).
And since Bollywood has always traversed landmarks, we did have our share of 90s Indian cinema (teeny weeny bit) (but then, there's never been much hype, so I'm like Paramecium (as in filter feeder) when it comes to Bollywood. It's now that on holidays, we cousins meet up and spend days watching bollywood flicks (not much old ones. 90s ke hi hongey, I guess. And rom coms are a priority. And Govinda's a favorite). But haha we are more into the South movies (chairs flying, people flying, heroine mafia leader ki behen sorts. Nothing beats senseless entertainment :D You don't even have to put your brains to work. Sit back, chill and laugh away. So much of Khushi in all of us. And yeah, we don't know and yet we generalize- so every other movie except Bollywood is a Telugu movie for us. )
As for daily soap, I've watched Kasauti Zindagi ki while I was like seven year old. lol if you consider peeking at the TV from under a blanket while pretending to sleep as 'watching' and that at a age when you didn't even understand Hindi properly. haha
But I've watched Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and that still stands out as the best TV show mere liye toh :p
HSSH is all time favvv. I watch it everytime it's on TV. Its gold. :') (okay I'm just whispering it you. sshhh. But despite being a SRK fan since I can remember, I don't like DDLJ much. I mean, I like it a very normal amount.*flees away before anyone throws chappal*. And yes, yes, yes, laakhon baar yes, I too think Kajol is overrated. I loveee Rani though.
And Akshay kumar and all those khiladi movies are a delight. Period!
Has anyone watched Tirchi Topiwaale? *scratches head* I likeee that actor there (but in Wanted, he was bleh. Age works wonder in only some :p ).
And coming to the story, even though I cannot relate to anything/anyone much (except Arnav. in being an angsty teenager. and in trying to convince yourself otherwise.) - I love love the whole fun and nostalgia this is wrapped in. Makes you happy the whole time you read it.
I was just reading Heartbeat Radio in the afternoon and came across my comments there (which were few and basically not even about the story), I was so embarassed that I wanted to go in a corner and cover my face. Idhar toh, all the awesome writers ka adda hain. Lol I feel so err jittery and ...nervous even haha.
But KB, you are awesomeee. bas.
