He laughed out loud.. his laugh IS HUSKIER

"I listen to all sorts... u listen to Hindi and Tamil" he pointed "Hes possibly the greatest guitar player of all time, unparalleled virtuosity, soulful" R&B sighed

"what is ur favorite song of his?" she asked probingly

Their train arrived

Ranjan chuckled as she refused to move with the crowd to board the train

R&B grabbed her hand and dragged

"Do u want me to list 10? or just one?"

"One?" she muttered, stepping in... a lil 4 year old looked at her nosr ring curiously and said something to her mother about her almost 40 inch long braid

The Dad said something to her in French

And pulled a wimpy pony tail upfront

II shook her head "I am sorry I dont speak French" she said

R&B translated "some day I hope she will have hair like urs" he said

"really?" thanks" II nodded, offering the girl her fat braid

The girl reached dout and touched tentatively

The Mom said something

"But Mum wont allow piercings" R&B translated

II smiled sheepishly and felt her fake ruby, defensively

"Umm... my husband loves nose rings, I am sometimes made to get out of bed half way through foreplay to wear them" "Umm so ya... for some of us its a
job requirement" she smiled at R&B spoke breathlessly

THE RAKSHASAN HE WAS TRANSLATED IT VERBATIM TO THE DAD

The man burst out laughing

II glared at the dude

"Translate pannineya?"

He nodded innocently

PAAVI" she shrieked

Ranjan and Manya were in deep discussion about something arm wrapped around a pole

Ranjan tapped her head fondly and admonished her

Manya made a face and pleaded

She hadnt spoken to II much she had woken up

Even when they went into the kitchen after II gave him the Matterhorn watch, Manya noticed it within seconds and quizzed
He ack it came from II

"Is it some special day in u guys' journey?" Manya was nosy "U know... me and my ex did that" she reminded II the futility of having "days and moments"

"I couldnt buy him a Cartier so I settled for a Swatch" II said boldly

"He only wears inexpensive watches" Manya said as if taking II's side "He probably has a dozen Swatches" she finished

"OK WHICH Jimi Hendrix song" II went back to her nag😆

"Voodoo child" he said somberly

He scrolled his phone and, stuffed a plug in her ear...

It was all so alien to her, being married to a Punjabi, that grew up in a part of Delhi where only
embassies existed according to her, never took public transport, had few friends, owned a venture capital company,
lived in Paris, climbed mountains she did not know where they existed, bicycled through treacherous terrain most of which she had only seen of on Nat Geo
between his two abodes owned may be 20,000 books?
took subways to work, did his own laundry, cooked his own food,
wore shorts even in Delhi's 50F winter... and did not shave... and liked to read more than he liked to speak

His choice in music was varied and eclectic... her shoulders slumped when she summarized him in her mind

"Do u feel we are totally different people?" she asked

He breathed softly unwilling to answer

He knew she was spoiling for a fight

"In what way?" he bit the bait
"Tum jo karte ho... mujhe kisi cheez ki khabar nahi thi until I met u... I am married to u and I dont know u" she accused

"The dungeon is through the bathroom closet" he mocked

"It probably is" she nodded sadly

"I picked a restaurant that plays Jimi Hendrix, BIG DEAL II" he hissed

"Tumhaare doston ko nahi jaanti... ur obsessive love for living a solitary life... climbing mountains, riding subways...
my watch is not going to cut it" she was frustrated

He gently hugged her " Why are u so curious?" he was baffled

"Oh ya... why... umm... let me think... I AM MARRIED TO U , U JERK" she punched him

"U sound like Sam" he kissed her cheek

"Atleast Sam loves u" she hissed, as he kissed her disturbing the heart rate

She pulled away... "I need a report on everything" she ordered

His eyes danced... and the look changed "U dont" he lowered his gaze uncomfortably

"AYYO!!" she moaned loudly

I DONT KNOW IF I WANT TO KNOW MORE
OR I DONT WANT TO KNOW MORE
I WANT TO BUT
IF I GET TO KNOW MORE
I WILL FIND OUT ABOUT THINGS I DONT WANT TO KNOW
UNEARTHING MUNDANE THINGS WILL ALSO UNCOVER ABHORRENT ONES?

"I know exactly how you feel" he whispered caringly in her ear he fought it everyday, he fought that feeling everytime he saw Ranjan, strangely him and his wife were connected in ways unimaginable to him a few years ago
He chuckled derisively, "being married" was unimaginable to him until he met II
... their station approached Ranjan and manya walked over to the exit and so did they
