Part V

Rayan puts the down the book he was reading as he hears the knock on his door... he was planning to have a relaxing evening, completing the novel he started reading...as he already knew Jhanvi wud be going to her farewell party, her group of friends are holding...& he was literally surprised when Jhanvi asked him to join her...

He smirked at her with a certain twinkle in his eyes...

Rayan(teased)-- Is this your informal way of asking me to be your date 😛?? Dat too on your graduation party...

Jhanvi (blushed red)-- Noo... I mean I just---I---you---"(stammering) -I just don't want you to stay home yourself ...actually, Mom-Dad also not gonna be home, as they are going to visit their friend who is not keeping well..& Mom suggested so...

Rayan (interrupted)"Oh!! 😛😛 Just because aunty suggested u asking,...(pretended to be hurt) dat means you don't want me to join...in dat case, I will talk to aunty I will be fine at home!! Its OK...😊

Jhanvi's face falls realizing he is refusing...seeing her sad face... Rayan cudn't hold back his laughter...

Rayan (chuckling)--Don't worry... 😆😆😆, I was just teasing ... Give me twenty minutes and I'll be ready...

Jhanvi grows even more embarrassed seeing him laugh realizing how easily he tricked her...😆😆 yet her heart races fast...with the thought of being at party with Rayan...she can imagine all the leg pulling & teasings she will have to hear from her friends...

A while later she patiently waited for Rayan to join so that they can leave...as she looks up from her watch to call out to him she softly gasps as he walks towards her...looking gallantly handsome in a black suit...😳😳 its first time she is seeing him in one...she was realizing how difficult its to take her eyes off of him...she feels chills run down her spine by the way he looks at her intently...

On other hand Rayan's breath was blown away by the sight Jhanvi makes in flattering white flowing evening dress outlining her slender figure, complemented with pink sash around the middle...White color making her look more radiant & b'ful than ever...she looks heavenly... It took all his efforts to compose himself...

Rayan (clicking his fingers)--We should get going unless you want to miss your party...😛

Jhanvi just nodded in yes silently...& made move towards the door.

Rayan felt uncomfortable with being among a crowd of strangers but was grateful that Jhanvi was trying her best to settle him in with her friends as she introduced him to all of them...😊😊 initially when Jhanvi introduced him to Rohan, he was a little wary with him finding his closeness with Jhanvi rather irritating, at comfort level both Rohan & Jhanvi shared...it was only an hour later, he sighed in relief when Jhanvi also introduced Rohan's girlfriend Sakshi.😛😆

Though he was happy Jhanvi enoying herself... having that bright smile on her face throughout the evening, dancing, singing along with her friends...occasionally he cud see her turning into different shades of red, when among her friends...but he missed having Jhanvi all for himself, all these days, he was used to spend time with her, but its been almost two hours into party, they didn't even got few moments togther ...as he glanced up again towards her...the same moment Jhanvi looked at him, catching his silent demeanor from some time into the party...she walked upto him

Jhanvi (apprehensive) -- I hope you're enjoying yourself?

Rayan (smiles) -I'm fine don't worry... & having a good time... Your friends are quite warm & welcoming...(reassuringly takes her hand into his) but yes, I'd have an even better time if you were to share a dance with me...(extending his hand)

With flushed cheeks, she shyly nods her head and allows him to lead her to the dance floor...Rayan gathers her close in his arms and continues to smile down at her...

Rayan (smiled)"Can see your friend specially Rohan staring us down like a hawk...

Jhanvi (pink in the face)"Just ignore him, he's just silly...

Rayan (amused)"Now I wonder why??

Jhanvi (shyly)"He's convinced that you're my boyfriend...& forcing my other friends to believe him...despite how many times I told him that you are a guest...

Rayan (chuckling)"We must be make really a good couple then,😛😛 if everyone wants to believe that we are one, don't you think?...first the jeweler 😆😆😆 now your friends too😛😛

Jhanvi just turned another darker shade of red, She continued to sway in Rayan's arms with her arms wrapped around his neck and loses herself into the warmth of his embrace and the lyrics of the romantic song that had been playing all along...its only a while later she heard Rayan asking...

Rayan (softly)--What do you say that we blow this party and go on back home... I'll cook us some dinner,

Jhanvi glances up at him with a growing smile of her own... "That'd be perfect"

Together they blow the party and discreetly leave...Jhanvi bid didn't bother bidding bye to her friends before leaving neither felt guilty about doing so...all she knew was that she wanted to be with Rayan...

Jhanvi relishing the delicious sauce , along with Pasta...Rayan just cooked.

Jhanvi (smiled)--Where did you learn to cook all this...This is really Good...(continuing to relish)

Rayan -Thank you 😊😊...it was Mom, who insistent that I learn cooking before going off to college...& thankfully I did, otherwise I would have starved to death...😆😆 if depended on tasteless food at hostel.

After finishing dinner as Jhanvi moved to place the dishes into kitchen, Rayan heard Jhanvi's soft "Ouch" as she had accidently knocked off a glass breaking into pieces...while putting them in trash one of glass piece pricked her finger making blood ooze out...

Rayan (concerned)"what happened?? ( he moved closer where Jhanvi was standing near sink holding her finger ) How did this... let me see ... (Jhanvi winced in pain as glass pricked her more)

Jhanvi (winced again) -Aooow...I'm fine Rayan...let it be...

Rayan not paying heed to anything that she says and only takes her hand into his realizing glass piece is too small but its deep in her finger, he seats her down onto one of the chairs nearby...

Rayan (sternly)"Just sit here quietly... & tell me if there are pair of tweezers or a Nail cutter...

Jhanvi (scared)"Why?? I mean...I will do it myself...

She paused as Rayan just looked at her taking no reasoning from her...Jhanvi quietly pointed to the first aid box in the cabinet...a while later as she saw Rayan crouches down beside her at her chair, with tweezers in hand bringing it closer to her finger...she panicked & moved her hand back...

Jhanvi"What you planning to do Rayan... (as she struggles to pull her hand away from his firm hold)

Rayan (pissed off)"planning to play cricket ...(he was worried the way, she is pressing her finger it will just make glass go deep in skin) obviously will take the glass piece out...

Jhanvi (worried for the pain it will cause)"Noo...(she tried to pull her hand again)

Rayan has to restrain himself from laughing at her state... Here she is, scared by a small glass piece it will not hurt much...

Rayan (taunting)"Come on Jhanvi, don't act like a baby. I've gone through worse pain than this and didn't react the way you are right now...you are just having one glass piece ...I had 26 glass pieces in my skin...

Jhanvi (shocked)"what?? 26 pieces in your skin, where?? (she shuddered with thought what exactly might have happened with Rayan to be having so many glass pieces)

Rayan looks at her for a good two seconds before starting to unbutton the top buttons of his black silk shirt...with every button opening, Jhanvi's eyes widen at this and she feels like she will die from a heart attack right then and there...

Jhanvi (gaped)"Rayan...what...you...

She stops midway in her sentence as she sees him reveal his right shoulder to her where he has a nasty scar... curiously she touches it lightly, tracing the outline of it and stares back up at him...

Rayan (smirked)"knew it, you wont believe without proof...

Jhanvi (softly)"How did this happen??

Rayan discreetly takes her hand back into his and begins at his pending task of taking glass piece out continue to narrate his incident...

Rayan"You wont believe ...

Jhanvi"why I wont?? Ofcourse I will...it must have been very painful

Rayan (hid his grin)"indeed it was, but will you beleive the incident...(Jhanvi nodded in yes) fine, actually it was months back was out shopping with Mom...when a man roughly passed aside me with a old lady shouting behind him... as he had snatched away her purse... seeing helpless lady...I chased after the thief...from street to street ...road to road..building to building... it was a long run...

Jhanvi (curious)"just for unknown lady...

Rayan (convincingly)"Ofcourse Jhanvi... purse had old lady's money...& must be other important stuff (she nods her head in agreement and urges him to continue with his story) our chase continued when thief darted towards top a building & as I darted behind him... scared he will be caught he kicked me...pushed me off the of the railing...since it was a glass railing with force of my fall it pricked my shoulder...

Jhanvi (winced at the thought)"Ouch!! ...it must have pained... That's where you got the scar? Then what happened??

Rayan"Then what...(added coolly) I managed to hold up again in front of him...& kicked the thief...we had a good dual fight until he jumped off to other building & I followed him too flying mid air...

Jhanvi (disbelief)"what you're telling me that you jumped off an apartment building to another building?... (Rayan nodded in yes) & you want me to believe it... just for unknown lady, you jumped from one building to another, with glass pieces in shoulder...(finally catching on to his fabrications, she smacked him)...You are full of lies Rayan...(Rayan grins impishly at her not at all guilty of lying) Liar...

Rayan (smiles)"I wud love to be a certified liar...as I managed to take out the glass piece without you realizing 😛 & mind you, story might be a lie, but stitches here (pointing to scar) are real...Did got 26 pieces 😛😆...though coz of silly friendly chase b/w friends😆😆

Jhanvi stares at small glass piece placed on the dining table & her finger neatly bandaged...& surprisingly she didn't felt any pain...Her eyes switch back over to Rayan who continues to grin at her... & she drowns into the depths of his stormy gray eyes as he looks intently at her...& her heart soars high with her mind reeling fast... & her heart & mind reaching same conclusion that she is in Love with this person standing in front of him looking so caringly towards her, & smiling sweetly at her...

Rayan asked her to go & rest wishing her goodnight he went back to his room but Jhanvi could not go to sleep with what she had just learned. She felt excitement building inside the pit of her stomach and a new wave of emotions that she never experienced before in her life. It is strange what being in love can do to a person.

Jhanvi was chirpy herself next day...as finally her Di, wud be back by evening, 😊😊
Late in the morning sipping on her coffee she moved towards the back garden only to find her parents in deep conversation about Rayan-Neha's alliance...😊😊 & her mother happily informing her father, that Anu wud also be arriving sometime later next week as Rayan himself had asked her to come to India...😊😊 as he wants to announce decision with her around... Mother went on happily rambling, if all goes well, with Anu & her husband around 😊😊 they will hold a small engagement function before Neha goes back to hostel...😊😊😊

Jhanvi, face pales on hearing this as well as her heart drops...her coffee mug was about to slip away from her hands but she managed to compose herself ...Jhanvi mentally curses herself...why she let this all happen...How can she be such a fool, allowing herself to fall in love with Rayan 😕 ...when from very beginning she knows that he could never be hers...she herself doesn't know how it happened that she started liking Rayan, the little things he did, how he made her smile...they way he spoke...
How his eyes shined bright when he smiled at her, the way he looked at her, made her heart flutter...

In the process of liking him, falling in love with him...she conveniently forgot, that Rayan had came all the way to India specifically to meet her Di, for marriage...& since beginning even she was going along with the idea, having her sister marry the man she was growing to like...😊😊 after knowing how good he is as a person...she was proud & happy of her mother's decision 😊😊 ...but somewhere deep down, she also realised she herself has started falling in love with this man...

After hearing her mom dad chatting she cud make out, even her father also have given his consent...

If realizing & accepting her love for Rayan was unexpected for herself, now the very idea of having Rayan marrying her sister or anyone else pierces her heart severely...😭

Composing herself, she turned to go back to her room... makes her way over to the stairs, wanting to be alone for awhile, not realizing Rayan was getting down the stairs & she accidently bumped into him...she looks up to see Rayan staring at her with question...

Rayan (steadying her)"careful...you OK...

Jhanvi nodded absentmindedly...& made a move to walk past him...concealing her forming tears with her level best...Rayan gave a questioning look, seeing her so lost

Jhanvi"ermm ...I... just having a slight headache...will just rest for a while...

Rayan (concerned)--Did you take anything?...

Jhanvi (showing her coffee)"Just had coffee, it works for me... (smiled) I want to sleep for a little bit... usually that puts off a headache...

Rayan though not convinced by her futile try of lying to him...as he cud clearly see behind her mask that something is troubling her...he cud make out from her eyes...However, he doesn't press on it... He obliges to her wish of being alone...

Rayan"Hope you feel better, after rest...😊😊

Jhanvi smilingly nodded & moved to her room...

During whole day, Rayan noticed Jhanvi seemed a little down and quite distant from everyone, even from him...😕😕 it was like old Jhanvi was back ...whom he had first met who distanced herself from him...😕😕

He tried to get down to the matter, but Jhanvi only covered it up by saying she was feeling a little sick...He glared at her, letting her know that he wasn't believing a single word that was coming from her mouth...whereas Jhanvi kept herself busy by helping her mother, tidying up her sister's room, helping her mother cooking & other things so that Rayan doesn't get a chance to talk to her or ask her about whats wrong with her...😕😕...He wanted to discuss with Jhanvi, about her mother arriving later in the week...he wanted to spend time with her...but every time Jhanvi appeared busy...

Hours later, Rayan looks surprisingly at the chirpy & smiling Jhanvi welcoming her sister, he wonders whats wrong with this girl just hours back she was all gloomy & distant & now she is usual self as nothing was wrong with her...😕😕

Rayan sighs to himself, since Neha's arrival three days back, its been as if Jhanvi has every other important work expect facing him 😕😕 let alone talking to him😕 ...He cant help but wonder what exactly happened😕😕, that in whole day, how Jhanvi cant take a single minute for him 😕😕 with other, Jhanvi was her usual smiling self & talking normally...

He was missing his Jhanvi that would talk nonstop with him, blush at the littlest of his teasings, and even fight with him...& cud go on talking with him on any & every topic, will look after him...show him a new sketch she made, or a new dish she tried...but now it seems that Jhanvi is lost somewhere...

He was getting annoyed & upset with what she was doing... In fact, on every given opportunity she was pushing her sister onto him, 😕😕& cleverly pulling herself out😕😕...causing him to be suspicious of her actions.

Somewhere Rayan was started to get angry towards Jhanvi, What exactly she is trying to pull?

Is she doing what he is guessing...
