Choti, THANK YOU, for giving us this story, for taking the time to express to us of this generation what it may have felt like to be there on August 15th 1947.

I never thought a speech could move me, but this did, but the following left shivers down my back and goosebumps until I finshed reading it:

We cannot encourage communalism or narrow-mindedness, for no nation can be great whose people are narrow in thought or in action.

if only we could go back and listen to these words... back to 1984. Since my childhood ive always wondered why India didnt remain united, maybe if she had, the world would have been a better place now. That quote should be above every school hall, in every language, and spoken every time there is a "Jai Hind" shouted out. The British took from India and left us separated and dysfunctional, which just manifested in all thst it is today.

But this story is much more than the fight of freedom, it is of love, understanding, commitment and respect for each other. The maturity it is written in astounds me, the knowledge that it created is now embedded that I want to go and find out more, learn more, and believe me at 49 that takes a lot. I loved Khushi and Arnavs relationship, but the true stars of this story are Ashok and Shakshi, a couple who took in an orphan, brought her up, but taught her about respect in a marriage is mutual, when one side fails the otherside ceases to hold the same respect. Arnav, showed her the physical side of that respect in how he treated her to how she should follow those dreams, even if they were contrary to his own

Bravo my sweet...👏 👏 👏

Your comments are truly... I don't even have words for them. They are inspiring, in every sense of the word. You have always, always taken the time to let me know what you think- no matter how many chapters you had to catch up on, you always gave me your thoughts on each one. Your comments have been so thoughtful and heartwarming.

I am absolutely humbled to have a reader like you. Thank you, thank you, thank you- no amount will be enough to express how much I love having you reading my story.

Love always,
Choti.

I was thrilled while reading about Nehru's speech. Midnight 12:00 am and the freedom... So beautifully written, Choti.

Arnav's dilemma and his ultimate decision to accept India as home, wow, I liked it very much.

You are a fantastic writer Choti. Take a break and do start a new story soon. I will be waiting.

Thank you so much! You have been here for the whole thing- and I love your comments. I love Nehru's speech- it induces goosebumps, doesn't it?

Love always,
Choti.

When the journey is so good the end always figures out a way to fit into the routine perfectly.

What I liked the most was how life's full circle was in full view, with only the views of individuals switching. It is interesting how she has become some of him and he has become some of her. I guess, that is what a perfect pairing comes down to😃.

I also liked the contrast of how all the early chapters, the focus was more on each other with others playing the sideline roles. And now, it is how the others have played or playing a major role between them. Another perfect contrast of a perfect epilogue.

Before I forget, the independence was another perfect pairing for all the resistance that they have been through. Khushi's warming up to England and Arnav's warming up to India was another perfect pairing and finally, I liked the way you set it up without even saying - you can have houses everywhere but home is where you have the people you need. We are all glad Arshi found their house and home and you are so right wherever there are hearts beating for you, no matter the place, you can always call it "This is home".

Story or no story for now, I am sure the longer the wait, that much better the next story will be. Will be waiting for the next journey together. Will wait for that, even if its hamesha...

Manasa, you are an amazing person. You always have the most gorgeous analogies to describe what I've written, and I seriously wonder why you don't join us on the dark side writing as well. You picked up on my conscious decision to slowly bring the sideline characters in to pull these two stubborn ones together, to the full circle- you always pick up on these, and I love it so much!

But you especially pick up on what I'm trying to say- like with this epilogue, that home is truly where the heart is. I'm delighted that it came across as you describe it- your words always make me feel so good about my writing.

Thank you for being such a supportive reader, for leaving comments that are just beautiful.

Love always,
Choti.

Choti dear, thank you for this lovely, beautifully scripted story. So sad that it's come to an end, so looked forward to an update every week and the gentle chipping away of Arshi's resistance. Loved all the characters...especially the strong and determined Khushi and the strong and loving Arnav who exhibited such selflessness and maturity in the end, and little Shashi that they together created.
Wish you the very best. Enjoy the summer, relax and come back energized with another riveting tale...we'll be right here waiting for you...love and hugs.

Anu, thank you so so so much. You always scrap me to check on me, and you've been here week after week with this story. Your warmth is so visible in your comments- and I'm so humbled to have that support. Thank you so much for being here with me, and you are one of the people who inspires me to keep writing. Hopefully, I'll be back soon :)

Love always,

Choti, congrats on the completion of this wonderful story. 👏

I feel so proud of you dear. 🤗

Every time you leave me in awe as to how a 18 year old who has grown up in the west can imagine and visualise how the mood was during the pre independence era and on that historic day of 15th August 1947.

I loved how you ended the story coinciding with the historic date of Indian Independence day.

It was such a proud moment for every Indian and Khushi's pride was eminent when she told her son that he is an Indian now.

Arnav's growth as a person, as a character was so beautiful and heartfelt in this story.

Arnav's journey in this story as a guy who was chasing a hollow dream like a wild goose chase to the guy who realised that home is where heart is, soul is, roots are and where loved ones live, was really amazing and so realistic and heart touching.

And Khushi as that women who showed him the real values of life was also such an inspirational character.

Finally how can I end my last comment without a song dedicated to Arnav, Khushi and our Motherland.

Kavi, thank you, thank you, thank you. Your comment, as always, brings a smile to my face- I have always loved your comments on other stories, and thank you so much for bringing your words to mine. I absolutely adore your description of Arnav- chasing a hollow dream. You pick up on the details, the little touches that I add as a writer while thinking that no one will notice them. But you always do! I am so happy I met you on this forum- thank you for being a wonderful woman, and leaving me such fantastic comments.

Love always,
Choti.

P.S.: I LOVE THAT SONG! There is an acapella version that is beautiful, and I will see if I can find it.

Res for the Epilogue

Edited:

This is home 👏 and this shows the change in the man. The guy who was ever practical is now taking decisions from heart. The proud husband who have sacrificed his dreams to fulfill his wives dream👍🏼 Choti I fell in love with your Arnav yet again.

Your Khushi too is strong and did everything to achieve her dream. She fought well and I am glad that she had all the support and love from her husband.

A perfect ending with a twist where Arnav in sort is sacrificing his dreams rather Khushi⭐️

I was glad to be the part of this Resistance and all the best for all future work/study😃

Bhavi! Thank you so much for your comments- they are such a treat to read after writing these updates. I fell in love with my Arnav too! It'll be hard for any guy to live up to him ;) But there is a part of him that'll always be with me; I guess that's how it is with writing. I've loved your comments, and I'm so so grateful for your support. Thank you!

Love always,
Choti.

Choti, such an elegantly simple yet deeply profound way to end this wonderful journey. A realisation that "This is home". Yeh desh mera apna hain, yeh log mere apne hain.

His support for Khushi was so wonderful to see. I loved how ultimately they are truly there for the other. How she gives him the space to follow his dream, to see for himself where his happiness lies. His admiration and unstinting support of his wife was inspirational. The way they respect each other. Something they also imbued from having such wonderful examples in their life - Ashok and Sakshi.

Reading Nehruji's speech is goosebumps inducing each and every time. The hopes, the sentiments, as powerful today as they were then. You wrote Khushi's emotions so beautifully here. The deep pride with which she says to her son "You're an Indian" knowing the toil and torment it's taken to get to be able to say those words.

You, my love, have done a brilliant job with this story. It's been an utter delight seeing you bring this era to life with your beautifully woven words. Seeing you challenge yourself and emerging stronger. Making me burst with pride (yes I'm ajeeb that way :p)And now go and do as Jigs has told you to! Enjoy your summer!

Love and squishy hugs hamesha,

Ruchi

Ruchi Di,

I know you don't believe this, but I will say it over and over until you do. You have a gift with words. You really, truly do. There is such elegance in your words. It takes something special to be able to write the way you do, and you should someday view your comments through the eyes of the writers you have touched- myself included. You have such an ability to pick out the parts that I love and put tell me how they touched you with such eloquence that it leaves me floored. And I mean that.

There is such genuine love that shows with every comment. I love you, and thank you for being here every single week, every single day, every hour for me.

Hamesha,
Your Choti.

What a way to end it... five years later. Khushi following her dream with the support from her family, but more so her husband. He proved it... if there were more men like him women can achieve so much. Bravo for that life lesson! 👏

And the image of little Shashi going from his father to mother is now in mind. What a perfect little family. Actually this entire update, I could see it playing out. The way they sat impatiently waiting for the speech to start, the speech itself... those words that have gone down in history. Something we take for granted... all put together so eloquently. Stunning... breathtaking!

And then we have Khushi ready to make the move she once thought would never happen in her lifetime. She was ready, and will always be ready. This shows the unconditional support that only comes with true, selfless love. I am just so proud of her... that touched my heart, baby!

But in end, "This was home." And indeed it is. What Arnav went through to come to conclusion, was so heartfelt. And it will be one he will never regret. Because where his family is, that's home!

My baccha, you have done an excellent job with this not so easy journey. Your excelled writing the updates week after week, the growth for me apparent. But what I love and admire about you, is your commitment. There are many that one would easily give up, but you didn't. For that truly, take a bow. You deserve it dammit!

And whatever comes next, will prove to pataka... though as your big sister, I demand you to take a break and enjoy your freedom this summer. Otherwise I will fly over and kick your ass, which you know I am capable of doing...😉

This was perfect story by a perfect young lady that will go far in this world.

Yours only,
Di

Didi,

Your comments are like you- honest, warm, and so much love. They make me want to bury myself in a hug from you because damn, I just love you. I truly would not have been able to do this if you hadn't been with me every, single week- right underneath my post, without fail. No matter what your schedule- you unresed, even though you told me over text, edited my work, you still took the time to leave me comments. You are my inspiration- truly. There is something special about seeing your comments on this thread. You make me see what you see when you read my story- even when I can't see that myself.

That GIF is so apt- and here's what I'm doing right now.

Hamesha,
