"What's wrong with her?" the women in her mid-40's asked, placing her hands on her hips.
Rey stood up from her bed, "Everything, mom, everything!" he said.
It's been a full hour since mother and son has been bickering about something called Marriage. Rey didn't quite understand why his parents, - mother mostly - is being so persistent about his marriage. What amazed him the most was that, he was to marry someone his parents were choosing and not him.
She let out a sigh, "Why do you think that?" his mother shook her head, "She's a nice girl, who will fit into the family perfectly."
He scoffed at her reply, "She's anything but nice, mom. The only reason she'll even fit in is, well, because she's rich just like us. She'll be beneficial to our work," he argues.
"That's not true Rey!" she said too quickly.
"Ugh mom, why don't you understand!" he begun, "I don't want to marry someone I don't love!"
"You don't know that," she pointed out, "You will love her. You just need to get to know her a little better," she said softly.
"Get to know her?" he asked, not believing that his mom has the guts to tell him this. "Mom...," he paused taking in a deep breath, "I've known her since I was a kid. How much more will I need to know her till I m assured that she's not a witch!" he spat.
"Rey," the mother gasped, "She's not a witch!"
"Of course, a witch won't call another one a witch. It's a coven rule, am I right?" he hissed.
"Did you just call me a witch?" she asked, utterly shocked at her son's choice of words. "You're calling your own mother a witch? Is this how I raised you?"
Rey rolled his eyes, "Umm... corrections, you did not raise me. Martha did. While you partied away with the witches of your coven," he snapped.
"How dare you!" she took a step towards him, "I gave birth to you! And now you're comparing me with that maid?"
"Mother, with all due respect, that is the only thing you have ever done for me. You brought me to this world while Martha taught and showed me this damn world," said Rey, calming himself down.
It was true; Martha really did raise him. Everyone considered Martha as a maid, but Rey found a mother in her. However, it didn't surprise him that his mother was berating Martha, it was now their daily routine. For all his life, he did everything his rich parents told him to do. He didn't have a mindset of his own. Nonetheless, he is not going to let his parents take over his love life. He will find the girl of his dreams when time comes. But for now, he needs to get the witches off his back. He has better things to do with his life at this moment.
"I don't care what you say, Rey, you're marrying Sunny either way," she stated sternly.
The nerves of this women.
He rolled his eyes, "Listen up lady, the answer is no. A big fat NO. I will not marry her!" he snapped.
"What the hell why?"
"Because...," he said pausing for a while, "I'm in love with someone else!"
His mom raised an eyebrow at her son's little confession. Only then, Rey realized what he had said.
Oh crap. Oh fu*k. Oh shit. Oh caramel. Yes caramel don't judge me.
"You're what?" she asked slowly.
Rey gulped silently, "I am in love... with someone... else...," he managed to get it out of his throat.
Why is it so hard to lie?
Cause you dimwit never lied before! His conscious replied.
"You're lying," she simply said not falling for it.
You idiot can't even lie to your own mother! Disgrace to all the kids out there, his conscious once again taunted him.
He sighed. "I'm not lying mom. I really am in love, matter of a fact I even proposed her a week ago," he said with seriousness in his eyes.
Her face dropped as she takes in what her son had said. It took her a while to see that Rey wasn't kidding. He might as well, have fallen in love with someone, and proposed that girl too.
"Please tell me you're lying," she replied shaking her head in disappointment.
Oh I'm lying alright.
"You wish I were, but I'm not. I am serious about this girl," Rey said looking directly into his mother eyes convincing her he's telling the truth.
"How come I'm hearing about this now?" she asked, "I don't remember you having a girlfriend... ever."
Busted. So busted.
He scoffed, "I prefer to live for couple of more years. Plus when we first started dating, we weren't that serious," he brushed it off, "Also, you were never interested in my life anyway."
She sighed, "That's not true Rey."
"Umm it is mother. It is."
She shook her head in denial. "You're not marrying that girl."
"That girl?" he repeated in shock, "That's the love of my life, you're talking about. Give her some respect lady!"
She rolled her eyes, "Give her respect? You're the one who's been calling me a witch. I think you should give me some respect. Your mother!" she spat.
"It's cute how you think I'm still that little boy who everyone bossed around," he spared an amused laugh. "Well guess what? that boy is long gone. And I have proposed to the love of my life and your witchy-ness or whatever you witches do won't stop me from marrying the girl I love," he said in one breath.
The love of my life? Who the hell is the love of my life? Does she even exist? Maybe not in this planet.
She smiled, "Tomorrow," she paused, "Invite her for dinner. I would like to meet this love of your life."
Rey knew this conversation would lead up to this. But he didn't expect it to happen so soon... so freaking soon.
Where the hell am I going to find a girl who will pretend to be someone's fiance risking her life under a damn witch? The answer is no one, no one I tell you. Reyaansh Singhania you are officially a goner.
"Your wish is my command, your evilness," he said with his right hand on his heart bowing his head. She rolled her eyes at her son's melodramatic-ness.
She smirked, "Oh by the way, if she does not stand up to the Singhania standard," she gave a humorless laugh, "you, my son, are stuck with Sunny for the rest of your life."
Rey smirked back, "And if she does?"
"She won't."
"If she does, you and your damn husband will stop interfering with my life. And let me do whatever-the-hell I want," the smirk playing on his lips remained.
"Deal," she replied without giving it a thought.
"Well then, I bid you goodbye your wickedness," he said with a forced tight smile.
He left the room looking as confident as ever. But in reality, he was terrified, he just made a deal that he knows he will lose. Rey has a complete understanding of his family's high expectation. Its an expectation that even girls lack when they describe their Mr. Perfect. He needed advice more-so he needed help to find a girl who would be willing to do this.
Later that evening, Rey called his friend who was partially responsible for the mess he was in - Vincent. He was the one who advised Rey to confront his mother about this marriage issue.
"So did you find a girl yet?" Vincent asked over the phone while Rey started pacing around his room in frustration.
"Does it look I found one?" he snapped. "Sorry... I'm just frustrated and have absolutely no clue on what to do next," muttered in guilt.
"Don't worry about it bro. Anyhow, did you ask Leah?" Vincent replied.
"No, mom already knows she's Jake's girlfriend. I need someone who she doesn't know."
"So a complete stranger?"
"Well that seems like the best option here," he murmured, "Do you anyone who would be able to do this?" Vincent was quiet for a while. "Vin, you there?" asked Rey, after not hearing his voice.
"I'm here," he replied, "and I think there is... someone... maybe...?" Vin said slowly.
Rey's eyes beamed with hope and relief. He really needed someone. Anyone even.
"Who?" he asked almost immediately.
"This girl who works in cousin's bar. She is nice and is struggling for money right now. So if you negotiate something with her... maybe?" Vincent pointed out a bit unsure.
"I'll pay her any amount! Hell I'll give her a blank check with my signature even," Rey begged in desperation. He was indeed to get this girl to agree even without seeing her.
"Okay cool, so come over by his bar in an hour or so?" Vincent paused, "wait you do know where it is right?"
Rey chuckled, "Of course I know, sure it's been a while I have been there, but I know."
Last time Rey visited the Bar was when he was a college freshman and now he's about to inherit his father's wealth. It has indeed been a while.
"See you then," Vincent replied, as both them hung up.
Rey was pumped to meet the girl who would finally free him of this misery of a life. However a sudden realization hits him, shit I don't know her name! Oh well I'll find out soon.
Soon enough after he got ready, Rey met up with Vincent in the Bar. The bar was crowded defiantly more crowded than he had seen last time he was here.
"Wow, not bad, business' going good for Dale isn't it," said Rey checking out the place. A lot of things changed, the color was black before, now it was maroon with black wall arts. The place was neater and way better than before.
"Yeah, after some major fixing," Vincent snorted, as they took their seat on the far left corner.
"So... where is she?" Rey asked impatiently. He wanted to get this over already.
"Woah impatient much?" Vin teased.
Rey chuckled taking a sip of his bear, "Oh very."
Vincent shook his head getting up, he left Rey fading away into the crowd. Rey was confused where Vin was going, but he figured to get the girl. Suddenly Rey's stomach started twitching out of nervousness.
After a while of waiting, Rey spotted Vin coming towards their table... by himself.
What the damn caramel.
He raised an eyebrow, "Where's she?" he asked.
Vincent looked at him as if he grew two heads. "What do you mean?"
"Didn't you leave to get the girl?" he asked confused.
"Umm no... I went to pee," Vincent said taking his seat, "I have been holding it in since you called."
"What the f**k Vin," Rey couldn't believe Vincent, "I thought you went to get her."
"Oh..." Vin laughed, "At first I did think of that but it was too crowded and I really had to pee. So I went to pee instead."
"Dimwit," Rey muttered getting up. "I'm going to go and talk to her myself."
"Do you even know her name?"
Rey stopped, looking down at Vin. "Umm no... what's her name?"
"Who's the dimwit now?" Vin smirked.
"Shut up and tell me her name."
"Taanushree, she's the one with the long hair."
Rey nodded before leaving him with his beer. Vincent wasn't joking when he said it was crowded. It was full of people trying to get drinks, and some just sat there talking, taking a lot of space. A lot.
He sighed, moving closer into the crowd. He caught a small glimpse of a girl with long hair, however, her back was facing him. He moved even closer pushing people aside.
"Excuse me, someone's fiance coming through!" he said to the idiots surrounding him. They all gave him a weird look before going back to their own business. He could see from the corner of his eyes that some girls were eyeing him. It didn't weird him out, by now he was used to it. Ignoring the probably bimbos, he finally made it to the counter.
"Taanushree?" Rey said, unsure to the girl who was serving drinks.
The girl looked up him confused, "Taanushree?" she repeated.
Rey was taken back at her reply, "Umm are you Taanushree?"
She gave a polite smile, "Oh... no sorry sir, I'm not. She's umm..." the girl paused looking over to the guy bartender, "Yo where's Taani?" she asked the guy.
"I'm down here!" a girl replied from under the counter, "Hey you guys mind helping my poor soul out?"
The girl bartender laughed at Taani, while Rey was totally perplexed as to what the hell was happening.
The girl went down and got up with some cans of beer while another girl got up with a tray of ice. To Rey's dismay the tray covered the girl's face but that didn't stop Rey from trying to see her.
"Hey are you Taanushree?" Rey questioned.
"Yeah that's me," Taanushree replied turning her back to him once again to put the ice away.
C'mon not again!
Taanushree successfully put the ice away, finally turning towards Rey with a jug of beer in her hands. She's cute was the first thing that popped into Rey's mind. He couldn't help but take in her appearance; she was wearing a bartender uniform of white shirt with black vest and skinny jeans.
"I'm Reyaansh," he said casually, "But call me Rey."
"Taani," she simply stated with a smile before pouring beer into a big cup.

Author's Note:
There you go with a crappy preface. I honestly don't like what I just wrote. I am not satisfied, I could've done better.
Anyhow, hey guys! Yes, yes, I know. I updated late. But I have good excuse, I was bombarded with tests, literally every day I had a test to take. Oh also, I felt lazy to type it, cause I had this written in my history notebook. Lol yeah that's pretty much what I do in my history class - write stories. I am so passing my final during May! *Note sarcasm* Well then, enough of this, so in this preface it's basically how the story begun. And you guys got to see a tiny glimpse of Rey's home life. This is my first time writing in a narrative form. And let me tell you, I suck at this. I don't know what the hell I just wrote, like really I don't. Umm yeah I also left with a cliffhanger cause in word it became 6 pages and I was getting tired. So in chapter one, you'll get more TaaRey moments with the proposal and all.
As of now, I hope you guys liked it! Also, thank you once again for the support and lovely comments. Please don't leave one word comments, it's rude and pisses me off. But nonetheless, I loved your feedback! So from chapter one, I will be dedicating the chapters a reader, who's comment makes my day. It will be a token of my appreciation!
Another announcement-ish that I am posting my writing Index and probably a fb page for my works, since I'll practically be updating everything. I won't come on IF much, so whoever wants updates can bug me on FB cause lets be frank we are all obsessed with fb! So be sure to have a look out for that... Add the account below for pms.
I guess that's it for now! And oh, I'm Sanaya, in-case you guys didn't know my name.
