Hmmm.. this was an update that I was waiting for and surprised me because it didn't involve Khushi at all! I ma a little surprised - a family that is torn asundercourtesy a woman who has suddenly lost a lot - is suddenly non-existent for everyone.
I think a major reason why the tone of the chapter jarred with me is that Anjali, who professes to be in love with Shyam, sounds chirpy and keen to indulge in chastising her brother and shows no sign of being emotionally impacted. For a woman, whose boyfriend/future husband/ love of her life etc has lost his mother, she seems to be pretty good spirits and focussed only on her brother and his abandonment?
And if Arnav ever even loved Khushi, he seems very focussed on mending his bridges and coming clean with his brother so that there are no shadows between the, than being concerned about her loosing her mother. Shouldn't he have been by her side, attempting to be her support - we do that with friends and he professed to have loved her! And in this chapter he says that he wanted to do everything possible to make her happy. he sure has a very strange way of showing it.
Akash - for a guy who was supposedly "devasted" by the fact that Khushi betrayed him is perhaps the only one who I am willing to give a benefit of doubt.He has been away and had perhaps no means of knowing what was happening in Khushi's life!
Perhaps blood is thicker than water and def thicker than a love that you might feel to profess.
I do realise that there may be an element that you as an author have yet to reveal - the aftermath of Khushi's mother's death and how she and Shyam reacted. what Anjali and Arnav did and why they are where they are? I get that and have no quarrel with that.
What bothers me is the nature and tone of their interactions esp Arnav's absolutely moronic and clearly false desire to see Khushi happy. neither Anjali nor Arnav sound remotely like they have been impacted by their loved ones' loss.
But it is a wonderful story and they are real characters with real flaws! I realise that you have a packed couple of weeks ahead but will be eagerly awaiting your next update.
