I was confused how did khushi n her real identity nullified all the happenings of the show.It seems unreal coz if khushi had a good resume n good position at AR.How did Anjali get her to train la.Why was khushi struggling to do dabba service when she cud have had a job..Most of all how did they get married the 1st time.If it was coz of snake then how did khushi compromise to get engaged by force. How cud the guptas force her if she wasn't their daughter in 1st place. What was khushi's family doin all along. If you hadn't changed how arshi met by khushi working while payal is engaged it wudnt be so confusing
PART - 7
*FLASHBACK*
Khushi Kumari Gupta, the simple yet extremely bright girl had earned the reputation of being the most trusted and favourable employee for AR designs that there was to be. Being the Head of Business strategy and Design was not a position any average person could occupy and especially someone with no more work experience than being an intern in a huge company, AR always had healthy relations with, but her professionalism, confidence and not to mention, charm had made the whole office go crazy for her, in just a span of two weeks she had become the heart of AR.
...
Khushi wasn't your normal fashion student, who wore short designer dresses or even so as to call professional attire to office. Her usual dressing up involved a plain Patiala Salwar with a simple Kurti and a scarf wrapped around her neck, switching to professional pants and shirt only when she was to attend extremely important conferences, which she mostly shied away from, but today was one of the big days when she required to stand up to her position and take a stand in the conference. Not that she couldn't carry it well or she didn't wear western clothes, but this wasn't London, it was India. She was Khushi Kumari Gupta here, not Aahat Singhania. Khushi was supposed to be a middle class girl from Lucknow, who shifted to Delhi during her teen years and was supposed to be simple and with conservative and root values instilled in her. Khushi as Aahat was also a person with values, they were the same and she couldn't pretend to be something she wasn't, either as Khushi or as Aahat, but Aahat was modern and confident, she had to be, for her father's business and for him to rest in peace, knowing that he had a bright and confident daughter who could handle his business and make him proud. Her life had changed drastically from that day, when she was in her final year of University in London, where she was on 'scholarship' and was in Delhi for her break, two years ago. It was a few days short of her 21st birthday, that day the chirpy, carefree innocent Khushi had gotten a big responsibility on her shoulders. The responsibility of being Aahat Singhania, one of the heir's of the famous Singhania empire. She couldn't just take in the news, she needed time but, didn't she always have that name somewhere in the back of her memory? Her distant and blurred memories of her Mumma and Dada? Quietly, she accepted the memory from the back of her mind and her family, that she vaguely remembered and found familiar when her best friend and now first cousin, Ehem had introduced to her. Khushi, Aahat was told that she had had an attack after her parents' accident as she was the only one to witness it and when she was taken away from London to her massi in India, along with her sister Aanchal, the eldest daughter of Adhiraj and Ashnaa Singhania, her memory of everyone, except her parents was completely lost, with some flashbacks to remind her of them, and hence she had become Khushi Kumari Gupta and got herself a new life, with not even so much time to remind herself that her parents had been taken away from her, forever. And now, she was back to being Aahat, with a new family and the blurred memories flooding her mind. After absorbing and accepting everything she vested her energy into further building the empire that her parents had left her, the only thing that properly reminded her of them and of her father's presence. She was back into the office that she admired as a little child on trips with her father and made it flourish, but only behind closed cabins, never giving a face to Aahat Singhania.
...
But right now, she knew how important it was for AR to bag the deal with the domestic branch of the international brand they wanted to tie up with. Khushi's awesome strategy and perfect business model was ready and up for the only meeting they were to have with the brand and she had to explain the strategy to the clients. As she seated in her cubicle, praying to her Devi Mayyia to help her, not because she was nervous, but because she didn't want her confidence as Aahat Singhania to reflect in front of the persons who occupied their seats in the conference room, after all it would be her second, or maybe first conference by the fact that she had to actually face people today, unlike earlier. She had always been a genius at forming strategies and giving her ideas and extending creativity to the unit she attended but had never been able to deal with presentations or standing up to take credit for her work.
"Today's going to be a long day! Help me Devi mayyia!"
Khushi took in a deep breath after vigorously shaking her joined hands into the air and envisioned the heap of Jalebis she had cooked last night out of her nervousness. Just then Aman walked in and called her upstairs, for the clients had arrived. Widening her eyes and feigning little confidence, she walked towards the conference room.
...
As Khushi entered the conference room hesitantly, all eyes from the AR part of the table shot up to her, all showed elements of surprise in them. Especially, ASR, to say that he was surprised or taken aback would have been an understatement. His eyes moved from Khushi's nervous eyes to her quivering lips and then to her attire. Again, she was in her wretched Salwar Kameez.
A move to pull back the overconfidence that would drool over if she came in wearing her highly professional, ridiculously expensive and extremely 'Aahat' outfit. Khushi was cent percent sure that if she had worn it her instincts as businesswoman would definitely take over. So she chose to remain in her 'real' self, Khushi.
Arnav fisted his hands in anger, he knew that Khushi was capable but being stubborn in front of ASR himself was not an easy path to take. She would definitely pay for it. Knowing that creating a scene would cost him too, Arnav kept quiet and allowed the meeting to proceed as this was something he wasn't used to. But somewhere he was more angry for another reason. The reason was simple but not so very trivial for Arnav Singh Raizada, because he felt his heart beat faster when she was in front of him, but how could it? ASR didn't have a heart, did he? The attraction he felt for this nuisance of a girl, who was as clumsy as she was bright was unrecognized and complicated for him to understand. Khushi Kumari Gupta was definitely driving him crazy. And then as the meeting proceeded and Khushi went on to give her perfectly designed presentation with zero loopholes, he felt pangs of jealousy rising in his guts, as he saw an employee from the other firm, stare at his Khushi with lusty eyes. His eyes were fixed on her and roamed over her body, completely and clearly checking her out. As he saw this, his fist tightened, his jaw clenched, his teeth gritted and then he turned red with anger as he stared at that employee with a murderous rage. Wait? What did he just think? HIS Khushi? And then he felt his heart go dhak dhak again. But his eyes never averted from the employee and Aman noticed this. Aman smirked looking at this for he knew that his 'heartless' best friend was losing his heart to Khushi. Aman gently nudged Arnav and then assured him that he was going to do something about it.
...
Soon, the meeting ended, without Arnav noticing that Khushi, due to her nervousness had handed over the presentation to Aakash who had prevented it from getting messed up. Instantly, Khushi drank some water and wiped the beads of sweat from her forehead, reminding herself that she was THE Aahat Singhania while reassured that she had managed to remain as Khushi too. As soon as the meeting was over, the delegates from the other company nodded to sign the contract almost immediately due to the perfect design and assured profits for their company and then Aman, very politely but firmly put forward AR's clause of only involving persons with experience of more than five years from the other company's side amongst other clauses, since the guy who was still staring at Khushi shamelessly didn't look experienced, for he ignored ASR's expressions and eyes that clearly showed that he would have been beaten up blue-black by ArnavSingh Raizada if they were in a different setting. The clauses were agreed upon and then finally the meeting was dismissed on a good note. Just as Khushi was about to leave, a thundering voice stopped her, "Ms. Gupta! You will stay back here, I have something to discuss with you".
Realizing the tone of his voice and the tension, the other employees and Aakash immediately exited the room, not before passing sympathetic glances at Khushi, who on the other hand, started feeling dizzy on sensing the anger in his voice. At a pace of a turtle, she turned around on her heels and passed a weak smile to Arnav, the kind which clearly stated *I am in trouble, ain't I?* Arnav wanted to laugh out, looking at her pale face that changed shade from a white to green and then settled on an unbecoming shade of crimson. But ASR being ASR, sobered up and looked at her as if throwing daggers from his eyes. Then suddenly he roared, " You, Khushi Kumari Gupta are an employee of AR, who is on a noticeably good position, who has apparently studied 'Fashion designing and MBA' from London and you out of all people come into this conference room wearing this thing wretched thing in the name of clothes? Where the hell is your sense, or should I say there isn't anything in this pea-sized brain of yours".
As he finished, Khushi's mouth hung open in a perfect O and she fumed in anger, "Aap apne aap ko samajhte kya hai Mr. Raizada? Hum Jo bhi pehne unse na unn clients ko farak padaa aur naa hee aapko padna chahiye. Aur yeh mat bhuliye ki aap Cambridge University ki topper se baat kar rahe hai. Pataa nahi kiss cheez ki akad hai aapko".(What do you think of yourself Mr. Raizada? Whatever I wore didn't affect those clients and it shouldn't affect you too. And don't forget that you are talking to the topper of the Cambridge University. I really don't understand what is this attitude of yours for?)
"Just Shut up Khushi Kumari Gupta. Yeh mat bhulo ki tum apne boss se baat kar rahi ho. Aur agar mein chahu toh tumhe abhi iss office aur Delhi se bahaar nikaal sakta hu", said Arnav SIngh Raizada, while stepping closer to her. (Don't forget that you are talking to your boss. If I want I can throw you out of AR and Delhi even)
'Yeah right! If it weren't for my complicated life I wouldn't be here Arnav Singh Raizada', thought Khushi before continuing, "Kya? Aap humein nikaal nahi sakte...yeh yeh deal aapko sirf humaare pea sized brain ki vajah se hee mili hai. Au...aur vaise bhi y...yeh bahut stu...stupid rule hai ki kuch pehne ya nah pehnne ke vajah se kisi ko fire karne ki dhamki Dee jaa raha hai. I..I can sue you Mr. Raizada", she stammered slightly. (What? You can't fire me. You've got this deal only because of me and my pea sized brain only. As it is, this is a very stupid rule that you are threatening to fire me because of the clothes I wear. I can sue you Mr. Raizada.) She said this although she was extremely nervous and to top it all, she hadn't eaten anything since morning owing to her nervousness which made her feel dizzy and this was extremely unlikely of THE Khushi Kumari Gupta, not eating.
" Khushi Kumari Gupta. Meri company, mere irrelevant rules, meri marzi, mera dress code. Aur kya tum mujhe sue karogi?" (Khushi Kumari Gupta. My company, my rrelevant rules, my wish, my dress code) Arnav raised his eyebrow and then moved towards Khushi, who simultaneously moved backwards, as if in sync with his steps. "Apni aukaat ke hisaab Se baat karni chahiye. Jo Karna hai karlo" (One should speak according to one's status. Do whatever you want to), Arnav had now enclosed Khushi between himself and the wall, while keeping both his arms to lock her. He had come dangerously close to Khushi and his face was just inches apart from his.
" D...dur rahiye humse Ar...Arnavji."(Stay away from me Ar...Arnavji)
"Kyun? Tumhe koi farak nahi padnaa chahiye Ms. Gupta, jaise mujhe tumhaare kapdo se nahi padna chahiye! Right? And for the last time! It's ASR". (Why? You shouldn't care Ms. Gupta, like I shouldn't care about clothes)
" Kapdo aur insaano mein bahut farak hota hai, aap nahi samjhenge. Aur humein aapko ASR nahi bulana, hum Arnavji hee kahenge. And...and please stay away from me", replied Khushi a bit sternly. (There is a difference in clothes and people, but alas! You won't understand. And I don't want to call you ASR, I will call you Arnavji only.)
But this aggravated Arnav even more. He neared her face and placed it inches apart from her. Khushi instantly closed her eyes in fear. Her lips were quivering and Arnav smirked looking at her. He tilted his head a little and then whispered in her ear, "Khushi Kumari Gupta, YOU ARE FIRED!"
...
Just then Khushi's eyes flung open and terror reflected in her eyes, but there was also a hint of uncertainty, like she was distracted and Arnav noticed this immediately. She opened her mouth to say something but before she could say anything, she fainted in his arms. "Khushi! Khushi! Wake up dammit!" A panick stricken Arnav shouted, while patting Khushi's cheeks as his eyes widened. Arnav picked Khushi up in his arms and laid her on a seat, all the while shouting for Aman. He picked up a glass of water and sprinkled some drops on Khushi's face. He repeated the same, before Khushi eventually gained consciousness. Her eyes slowly opened and Arnav made her drink water. Arnav looked into her hazel eyes, outlined by a thin stroke of kohl, that reflected uncertainty but also a sense of relief on being in his arms. Her eyes were shining with excitement and mirrored a glint of happiness and comfort as he saw his own reflection in them. He saw himself in a completely new and different light as he stared at her beautiful and big pair of eyes and he found himself lost in them. Arnav went on staring into her eyes as if there was no tomorrow, while experiencing a feeling unknown to him. Khushi too saw concern in Arnav's eyes. The kind of concern she had never seen in anyone's eyes except for those she loved. Butterflies fluttered in her heart as she found herself being lost in his chocolate orbs which showed genuine concern for her. Both of them found themselves lost in the web of unknown feelings and dhak dhaks of their hearts, as if their hearts were beating together in sync, as if they were one, oblivious to the world beyond each other. There was a homely feeling they experienced, in each other's eyes, in the comfort of each other's arms, away from any secrets, any pasts or any complications.
*Rabba Ve*
...
Their trance was broken as Aman barged into the room and coughed gently. Embarrassed, the two averted their gazes and Arnav looked at Aman who started speaking to Khushi like he was her long lost bestfriend, "Serves you right Sanka Devi! I see, you fainted but then that's what's going to happen if you don't eat since morning and keep on working for the presentation. Come on! I'll take you to the cafeteria!" he finished as he came forward to lend Khushi his support, while Arnav eyed him curiously and felt some pangs of jealousy for his best friend, 'What the!' he cursed in his mind. He was surprised that Khushi worked so hard for the presentation and felt guilty of his words earlier. But Arnav Singh Raizada wasn't the one to apologize, so he started walking out when Khushi called out,"Thank you sir. And I am sorry for this inconvenience. But am..am I really fired?"
Arnav was touched by her innocence and amazed that how easily she could apologize for something which wasn't even her fault. He turned around and mumbled a slight no and said,"You can take off for the rest of the day and we'll continue tomorrow on the project with the Sharmas", before 'almost' leaving the room and behind him a shocked Aman.
He went outside and then heard Khushi squeal in excitement and then speak to Aman, "Now even you don't start calling me Sanka Devi okay! I have to stop buaji from picking up my official calls and announcing to the whole wide world that she thinks of me as completely crazy and has made the entire family nickname me after that notion of hers", she shook her head.
" Arre Sanka Devi but it isn't that you aren't crazy right? You really are! Come now let's make you eat something".
Both of them laughed together while Arnav, who was listening to everything was satisfied and smiled at Khushi's childishness. 'Paagal hai' he thought to himself and walked away, smiling. A thing that Arnav Singh Raizada didn't do even once in a blue moon. This girl was changing him. No, his girl was changing him.
