Interesting how both Arnav and Aakash's gift to Khushi were both part of her past. But a happier time, like a reminder to Khushi that things were not so bad at some point. Like someone commented, a bit like reinstating some of that lost dignity.
Arnav playing Khushi's secret birthday Santa fits with the way I understand his character. Of course, he was a class conscious teenager, he realises that himself, but he was never downright bad. I think he is that kind of lover, almost Nerudaesque in the 'I love you as certain dark things are to be loved, in secret between the shadows and the soul'. His affection for Khushi is both heroic and pedestrian at the same time. I understand this Arnav and relate to him. It is interesting the four gifts he got her. The photo-frame was obviously the most personal and by putting a picture that his sister clicked, he put a bit of him in it. Life of Pi was a good choice too. Khushi is Pi isn't it, the one who learns to share the boat with Richard Parker? Da Vinci Code was given to her after the Aman episode, by now he was giving her generic stuff. The pens were the worst! 😆
Khushi asks him a valid question, why now? If this whole thing left you this tortured, why not earlier? Now it is entirely possible that you are not telling us the entire story. I mean, what is to say that Arnav did not engineer the 'accidental' meeting at Tewari & Sons to begin with? I am very suspicious when you throw a bunch of information our way. Like the way you gave us a large chunk of the Tewari story to us in the latest instalment. 😛
But here is what I think, it is alright that Arnav did not try to reach Khushi all these years. He had to become the person that he is today to set things right with Khushi. I am sure Khushi will see that one of these days.
I am not able to point the exact thing you did in this story, but you have somehow made Arnav and Khushi a very viable endgame now. There is attraction and chemistry. I hope NK weighs in on this!
PS: Poonam Raizada is something.. even Payal agrees how brutal it is. I also liked that you humanised Samir Singh, he is not the one-note evil politician. Though he is probably going to mess with Khushi anyway.
