Ok, I have been meaning to put up a comment ever since you posted the final chapter of this story, & then, I thought I'll do it once you put up the epilogue! And, although I reserved this spot right on the day you updated the epilogue, I've been hesitating ever since to actually write a comment! I will tell you why! There are some stories that you read, & forget! Then, there are some that absolutely compel you to comment on their brilliance! And, then, there's a third category of stories-they're so wonderful that not all of the words in your vocabulary will not do justice & PJ has been one such story for me! I have been lost for words that would sufficiently describe to you what it meant to read this story! I am afraid, we'll have to make do with whatever the words can tell, but I assure you, that this story will be all that & more!
Story-You know, it was interesting to see how you conceptualized this! And, I can tell you with certainty that this is one of the few stories that have truly been slice-of-life, sticking to what's real, what one deals with on a daily basis, the actual catch 22 situations in life! And, your narration did something wonderful to this story!
Characters:
Arnav-Yes, I loved the show's Arnav Singh Raizada & that is also perhaps as good as any Indian TV show is ever going to get in terms of detailing of a character, but your Arnav was a breath of fresh air! And, yes, I must add, the good guys finish last, doesn't get the girl, blah-di-dah is a truck of bull**** &, they are the likeable ones! Your Arnav was an endearing nice guy with his own vulnerablilities & it just made him so very human! This is one of the best anti-ASR versions of Arnav that I have ever come across on this forum! His journey of self-discovery was beautifully written!
Khushi-This girl is dealing with issues, I am sure a lot of youngsters face, i.e., making a choice between what her parents think is a safe, sensible option/backup or following her heart & doing what she believes she loves! Her story arc was an interesting one! And, she found a middle ground , & a new clarity in the way she perceived things in life! An engaging story! And, her relationship with Arnav, the rock-solid, unshakeable bond they shared was so completely wonderful!
Anjali-Now, she was dealing with an issue that quite a lot of women deal with! And, when she, finally chose to be happy, break out of those chains that were holding her back, pulling her down, I cheered for her! Life is, after all a pursuit of happiness & to compromise on that will only leave people with regrets & resentments!
Akash-Now, this man, I do not understand! I agree Payal should've probably told him about her applying for a fellowship, but his entire reaction to the issue seemed off! But, I guess, some people just need the reassurance that they get from a partner that's around, physically close by! And, sometimes, some love stories are just not meant to be! Can they rekindle their relationship once Payal returns-my opinion, I don't think so! Their issue wasn't her going away, but the clash between their priorities, & that won't change once she returns!
Guptas-I liked them! They were parents trying very hard to be supportive if their children's dreams while trying to ensure that they have a good life! And, sometimes, you feel that a tough decision is the need of the hour! Was Shashi's decision wrong? I guess, there'll be two sides to that argument, but his reasons were practical & I cannot help but agree with him, for the most part!
Payal-Now, the reason I kept my opinion regarding her character for the last was because I needed to get the other characters out of the way, for this one! She is my favourite character in this story! And, I might be partial because of that! And, by the way, I thought there was something familiar about her & when you said she was inspired from Dr. Cristina Yang's character, that fell into place! Do I love, Yang, the only woman character from all the TV shows that I have watched that truly is unapologetically original & so well-written that she's practically a gift to the audience! I have no idea how they'll run Grey's Anatomy without her from Season 11! And, yes, she loved, she cared, she made relationships, but truly, her work was what made her, & she didn't, actually need anybody else to complete her, just like you pointed out! So, it isn't very surprising that I loved your Payal so much! She was flawed, but she was strong, sorted, determined, & she was also a loving daughter & sister! And, her love for what she does, that singular focus on it with which she functions is fascinating, & whatever she does, she does with her complete conviction! She was at fault when she jumped to conclusions & said certain harsh things to Arnav, but she isn't a bad person! She is a great person with her own set of flaws, just like anybody else!
There, I have basically, just put everything I thought about this story & its major characters, here! I know, it is a little like word vomit, because this story is so wonderful, that I am still trying to find the words that would do justice to it!
@Vgedin-GREAT story! I loved reading each part, each relationship & each character's journey! Keep writing because you are so good at it! I hope more people get to read your work!
