Chapter 71

Panchali watched as many more tourist groups came to enjoy their day there. She was enjoying the day and all the fun, but the exams were still nagging at the corner of her mind. But at times she kept losing herself in the mysteries of nature.

She saw Arjuna as he rested his back on the rock watching the flow of river Ganga. Panchali heard him singing under his breath. ?he did not understand the language but the sound was beautiful anyways. Panchali tried to guess what the song was about. It was too soft to be a song of war, too passionate to be for a child. It was definitely some kind of a love song. Panchali was standing behind Arjuna, watching his curly locks being ruffled by the wind God. Arjuna felt a presence behind him and turned. "Krishna" he said a smile forming on his face. Such a beautiful smile- so relaxed, so patient, so careless and yet so caring.

"Krishna bhabi, Krishna bhabi" Vijaya woke Panchali from her trance. Chitra stood beside Vijaya looking curious. "Oh, what happened?"

"Where were you lost?" Chitra asked looking devilishly at Panchali.

"Ummm..I was worried about the exam. Just that."

"Ohhh...That's why you were murmuring the song under your breath?"

"Was I?" asked Panchali.

"Poor Panchali lost in day-dreams never knows what she is doing. You were singing a song and a Manipuri one as that. I can understand the wordings. Don't pretend. Panchali, is our Jiju never out of your mind?"

Panchali blushed tomato red at that comment.

Vijaya added, "Well! If anyone cares about you so much, can he really stay out of your mind?" Vijaya smiled "Here, Parth Bhaiya send his notes for you. Revise it if you have any tension in your mind."

Panchali smiled. Parth always knew what to do.

Panchali read the notes till she was almost confident for the exam. After a long time she rose up. She walked to the lake. She saw Chitra and Vijaya sitting cross legged, their legs hanging from a cliff. Hema, Shubhi and Devika were playing a game of tash. Ulupi and Kurenu had engaged themselves in a game of badminton. Neither of them seemed to be taking a beating.

Draupadi looked up at the sky. The Sun was hiding behind the clouds. At a distance she saw a woman with a group of students. The woman looked highly familiar. Suddenly the clouds gave away a shower of water droplets and everyone ran for safety inside the structure they had seen before.

She also saw the teacher and her group of students come in. Draupadi heard one of the students exclaim at the paintings in the canvas. This time Draupadi looked up to see depictions of a war. Soldiers standing with spears, two men fighting with mace, men showering each other with arrows, a man lying on a bed of arrows, water pouring out of the Earth reaching his mouth. The depictions looked so real to Panchali that she could actually hear the conchs blaring announcing the start of the war, she could hear the click of sword on sword; she could hear the shriek of soldiers. So overwhelmed was she at the time by anger and pain that she started shaking.

"Jiji, jiji." Panchali heard Subhi's voice behind her and turned to her for support. But Shubhi did not notice her. Subhi actually bypassed Panchali to go and greet the teacher who was telling her students about the various stories related to the depictions.

"Oh jiji! We meet after such a long time. How have you been?"

"Subhi dear! What are you doing here? Visiting with your family? How is Balram Bhaiya and where is that naughty brother of yours?"

"No, no. I am on a girl's day out. Both my brothers are doing well. Oh jiji, how nice it is to meet you!"

Subhi then pulled the elder girl into a tight hug.

O.K. i was busy shopping and having my bday fun so I updated now. I know its not my best but still hope you guyz will like it. Pliz post a detailed reply. Lovely pics Angie di.
