ArHi FF: Yeh Saali Zindagi

Chapter 21

Carrying two bags over his shoulder, Akash closed the door of his car. Beckoning Payal to follow him, he started walking toward an old house silently, staring up at it wistfully.

Emotions and tears choked his throat, demanding the feelings and grief he had buried in his heart to be let out. But he knew he wouldn't allow it to happen even when he was finally here.

Standing in front of the house where he was born and grew up till he was four, Akash felt free. Even though the two-storey building was covered in dust and had an eerie silence attached to it, he saw it as the place where his mother managed everything single handedly with a smile always and where every evening, his father used to play piano after dinner.

He saw it as the place where he saw his parents share many hugs and kisses as a couple. He saw it as the place where unbound love was showered on him.

It was in this house where he was loved without any condition and selfish intentions attached to it.

If Akash Raizada had ever been grateful for anything, it was of the fact that his parents left this house for him, not allowing anyone to acquire it till the moment their son is alive. Hadn't the same been specified in his parents last will, this house would have been snatched by Anuj along with everything else.

He smiled, realizing how much his parents must have loved him for making changes that will now help their only son even after their death.

Ignoring the creepy, haunted look lingering around the house, he pulled out the keys handed to him years ago and opened the lock.

He pushed the door, opening it noisily. Stepping inside, he coughed as a sudden bout of dust filled his nostrils and looked around the white sheets drawn over everything inside the house. Keeping the bags down on the floor, he walked forward pulling the sheets away from each item slowly.

Once done, his gaze lingered on every piece of furniture and frames hanging on the walls. He smiled remembering every fond memory of his childhood attached to everything around him, to every picture in the house before turning back to look at Payal, who was staring at him curiously.

"This was my parent's house. It's ours now." He declared, whispering softly.

Payal gasped as her eyes widened. Dumping the bags she was holding in her hands on a chair nearby, she walked to her husband and stood beside him, staring up the larger than life portrait of an elder couple in front of them.

"So they were your parents?" She asked tentatively, her eyes taking in the smiling faces of the couple looking at each other in love, passion and fascination.

Nodding slowly, Akash chuckled "Totally right. They were simple people unlike my Uncle and his family. Family and love was everything for them."

"They look happy. You look like your father." Payal observed, running a hand down his back in support.

Sneaking a hand around her waist, Akash pulled her closer before agreeing silently. Leaning her head back on his chest, she continued "You do miss them I think. Then why you never talked about them ever? You always walked away whenever I wanted to talk about them."

"I wasn't allowed to talk about them. My Uncle thought that it'll be selfish of me to think about them when he and his wife were trying to accept me as their son. Besides, no one likes to talk about his nightmares. Their death was that nightmare for me." Akash answered, a distant look in his eyes.

Teary eyed, Payal cupped his face softly forcing him to look down at her and smiled sadly. Snapping back to present, Akash closed his eyes looking pained before wrenching them open and smiling brightly at her.

Pulling back, he looked around the house "Well this place is a mess. It used to look so beautiful and full of life. I am afraid that we are in for a lot of work if we are living here now."

"Don't worry. I will take care of it." Payal assured, tying the end of her saree around her waist before picking up a broom to clean the place.

Picking up a rag cloth, Akash started beating the dust out of the furniture. He stiffened however when Payal asked "So are you going to meet Arnav now?"

"No." He bit out quickly not looking at her at all. Akash could feel his wife gasping silently in outrage.

"But why? Don't you think he will figure out everything?" Payal argued.

"He would have understood everything already. But it'll be best for everyone if we don't meet each other. Speaking of which, Shyam is coming here in an hour." He replied monotonously, aware of his wife's temper rising.

"Akash you don't need to rely on Shyam to know about Arnav's whereabouts now. You are not working with Badesahab anymore. You are not bound by any promise or something. You should meet him since you miss him so much and you both need to sort out every misunderstanding."

Biting back a curse, Akash rounded on her and snapped "Stop it Payal. Just because your sister has finally reconciled with you, it doesn't mean that I need to do the same thing. Anuj Raizada is already furious with my resignation. I don't want him to give another reason to start meddling in our life again. Arnav is better off without me."

Frustrated, Payal cried "Why are you punishing yourself like this, Akash?"

"Because I don't want him suffer from guilt or any other emotion. He will die of shame once he realizes that I was just protecting him while working for his father. Besides, I am happy with you and my son as my small family." Akash smiled, staring at her with affection and love.

Standing in front of him, Payal tanged her finger in his hairs before tugging him down for a kiss that spoke of her love, happiness and gratitude. After returning it with equal fervor, Akash pulled back gasping for breath, resting his forehead against hers.

"I love you, Payal. Thank you for choosing to accompany me here." Akash whispered sincerely, his eyes glittering with unshed tears.

"Of course I would have followed you. You are not getting away from me so easily, Akash Raizada. Now help me in cleaning this place." Payal ordered, giggling softly before kissing Akash once again. They both started the work, feeling much better and happy than the moment when they had arrived first.

The moment his car stopped in front of a dark alley, he found himself climbing out of the car. Drawing the grey hoodie over his head, he slid his hand inside the pocket of his jacket and started walking slowly towards a small shop.

He stopped finally, standing inside the shop quietly. Recognizing him, the owner nodded in acknowledgment before running inside to leave him alone. Picking up the small phone that had been left behind for him purposely, he quickly dialed the number and waited patiently for the person to pick up his call.

The moment the call hit the voicemail and then indicated to leave a message, he let out a frustrated sigh and bit out "Where are you? So much has happened. I need to know your decision. Bhai is no longer working with BadeSahab."

Disconnecting the call, he quickly took the SIM card out and broke it into two pieces. Throwing money on the counter, he walked out.

Once inside the safety of his car, he let the hoodie fall back from his face and ran his fingers through his hairs in frustration.

Arnav Singh Raizada knew that the time he always waited for is approaching and wanted to act fast. He knew he won't have time for the introspection of his actions now. The storm has just started gathering.

He could only prayer to exit out of it unscathed but he was scared. A lot.

When she entered inside the club, she found her nervousness about tonight dissipating leaving only her determined spirits behind.

Her eyes moving steadily over the dancing crowd and people downing alcohol quickly, she found her lips curving in a smirk. She never loved the dark and hazed life of the nightclubs but who was she to complain when it helped her in unveiling the dark side of the people she had to collect evidences about. She liked being here, hiding her scars in the dark surrounding of the club.

Passing through people dancing, yelling and jumping, she looked around apprehensive of being recognized. She knew that she had perfected the art of changing her appearance but never believed in it.

Stopping her gaze up at the private booth reserved by Aman, she climbed the spiral stairs leading to it upstairs avoiding looking up at anyone. Once inside, she sighed audibly in relief before looking down at the crowd through the glass door separating her from the crowd around.

After scanning everyone on the dance floor and at the bar, she squinted to look at the occupants of other private booth of the club. Vikrant was yet to arrive, she realized.

Just then, Aman stepped beside her to look down "You are early."

Grabbing the fruit punch he was holding out for her, she answered cheerfully "Yeah, it takes much less time in getting ready than it used to earlier."

Turning sideway, he ran his gaze down her body and whistled in appreciation "You look exceptionally good tonight. Is Arnav gonna be here?"

"Yeah. He will be here soon." She answered, refusing to blush at the wicked look in her best friend's eyes.

"Yeah, figured that out already" He teased.

Rolling her eyes, she exclaimed "Grow up, Aman. You are too romantic at heart to be a bad ass lawyer."

He shrugged "Kavya always loved it. It feels good to romance after spending the day arguing with the defendant's lawyer."

Khushi smiled "Speaking of your wife, how is she doing?"

"She is good. Apparently, she is not happy staying at her mother's place in UK till we sort out this case. She is emotionally blackmailing me into allowing her to come back. But I won't no matter how much we miss each other." Aman replied, his eyes taking a sad look.

Stepping ahead, Khushi hugged him sympathetically and whispered "Everything will be okay soon, Aman."

Tucking her head under his chin, he drew her closer as he murmured wistfully "I hope so."

"He is here."

Khushi looked up the moment Aman said those words, feeling slightly tipsy after the last mock tail she had downed. Realizing that the drink has helped her in relaxing, she smiled "Who?"

"Vikrant. We should move out of here Khushi. His bodyguards will scan everyone occupying the booths. It will do no good if they recognized us." Aman said tersely.

"Okay but have you explained the girls you have hired about what they need to do?" Khushi quizzed as she stood up and fixed the hair wig again.

"I did but I think I will look out to make sure they are here. Go downstairs and look out for him from the dance floor. Call me when he settles down, then only I will send the girls to him. And make sure to never be alone and that he never sees you." Aman dictated, looking calm. Khushi nodded before walking out.

Standing at the top of the stairs, Khushi stopped for a moment switching to her sexy and sultry smile at once. Dressed in a black skater dress with sweetheart neckline and capped sleeves, she knew she looked stunning as the dress clung to her curves then flaring out in a full swirly skirt around her waist.

With the hem ending above her knees, she was sure it gave emphasis to her long, lean legs. The auburn hair wig she was wearing along with heavy makeup and false eyelashes, she knew she looked like a wild college student partying hard. Adding a seductive swagger to her hips, she descended down attracting attention from many of the opposite sex.

As a guy dressed in casuals smiled at her before asking for a dance, she moved to the dance floor with him running her eyes around the private booths once again. Once she found Vikrant, she started dancing keeping a focus on his activities.

The moment she saw him ordering drinks, she excused herself and moved to the bar. Ordering a fruit punch, she sat on a stool in front of the bar and watched the waiter walking closer.

Once he was about to leave, she dropped her drink diverting his attention enough to drop a pill in the drink he was carrying. She walked away winking at Aman on her way.

Aman grinned before turning and walking away with his phone stuck to his ear.

She knew her part for the evening was done for now. Now she had to wait for the pill to start working on Vikrant.

Feeling excited, she tuned out everybody around her before jumping on the dance floor and dancing her heart out. She always loved dancing.

As she twirled around losing her heart and mind in the loud music blasting inside the club, a hand curved around her waist from nowhere pulling her in the middle of the dance floor.

Snapping her eyes open, she focused on a man in front of her, his hands holding her close. Khushi was about to buzz him off when his hand slithered down her spine, making her shiver. Her hands clung to his shoulders, unaware of the people dancing around them.

His touch was familiar.

Finally looking at him, Khushi noticed he was dressed in black button down shirt and a jacket along with black jeans. She tried to identify him but with a black cap on his head, his face was half hidden.

His hairs were messy falling on his forehead. When Khushi tried to look down further, he moved his face away.

As he started moving his body to the music, Khushi forced herself to stand still. Frowning, she looked up at the man narrowing her gaze when their eyes met. He smirked.

Her eyes widened in shock "Arnav?"

"Hey, stranger." Arnav murmured, his lips twitching in humor.

"You look so different." Feeling shocked, Khushi exclaimed. The man in front of her was nowhere close to look like calm, composed and neat Arnav Raizada.

Arnav chuckled, raising his hand to trace a path along her throat before leaning down to drop a kiss there making her sigh in pleasure "I can disguise my appearance as well, Khushi. How is everything going?"

"Good. You missed the first part of the plan." Khushi complained, pouting at him.

Finally making her dance along with him, Arnav whispered "Let it be. By the way, you look hot tonight."

"Hot?" Scrunching her nose, Khushi asked.

"Sexy. Beautiful. Good enough to eat." Arnav answered, smirking wickedly at her.

Barely managing herself from blushing, Khushi raised her eyebrow "Good enough to eat? Seriously, Arnav?"

Arnav winked "Seriously, Khushi. Here let me show you."

And he kissed her.

Okay, I know I am late but with my college getting started again, I was busy. I will try to update regularly now.
