Just a thought. Wondering what this information from the past will do to all. Especially Arnav and Khushi who have always been caught in the whirlpool of situations which have thrown their life into turmoil - always. Especially Arnav who has kept his Mum close to his heart and been hurt with the past surrounding her and been stuck in the past due to the same. How is he going to react and come out after knowing more about what he had seen. He has taken so long to finally move forward and now this...
Yep we are going to read it as we move forward. Sandy looking forward to reading about it. Thanks Girl for the amazing take on situations in life.

This was a very disturbing chapter ... but so true ...
This is a shocking thing that actually happens in our society not only in our houses
but at work too ...
A woman being the physically weaker sex is taken advantage of in various ways ...
be it sexually or emotionally ...
And if a woman is working for them ... men think that it is their moral right to do as
they please with her ... regardless of anything ...

Gareeshma was a victim of this fate ... not being monetarily strong she had to resort to
accepting help from Ahalya ... who unknowingly exposed her to the monster in her house ...
but what has upset me is that at least Ahalya should have realised the mistake she was
making in bringing this innocent girl to her home knowing the ways of her husband ...
She is lucky that she had only one pregnancy therefore one child to take care of ... what if
there had been more ! how many children could she have taken into her home as her own ?
In such a case I wonder if her earlier children too were acquired in similar ways ! there is only
one word for such men ... Shaitan ...

My heart went out to Gareeshma who lost her innocence because of her fathers ailments and
her status in society ... over that she could not even keep the only child that she would ever
have ... but as they say " Bhagwan ke ghar mei der hai andher nahi " ... the world is not such
a bad place after all ... she did manage to meet a man who loved her for who she was and had a daughter from him even though she may not have given birth to her ...
she has now come face to face with her past and God has somehow made it possible for her to
be present when the only child she gave birth to is getting married ...

👏 Fabulous story Sandhya ... thank you and start writing another one soon ...

I was eagerly waiting and you didn't disappoint me...So Devayani-Ahalaya & Arjun knew...and no wonder Anya is different from Arnav and Anjali...I had thought the baby was Payal...I dont know why...even though there was enough indications to Anya...
Am skipping comments on Arjun Malik...Bhatnagar-Greeshma relationship was really touching...But who impressed me greatly is Ahalya...she was simply amazing...you have used heart of gold quite liberally...but she truly was...I guess FB isn't over ...is it?

Wish Greeshma had shown the courage to walk out before her modesty was outraged. She took the step twice.. once on discovering her pregnancy and then again after the baby was born.. both times when her circumstances were far more dire than the time if she had taken the step, she wouldn't have gone through such devastating tragedy. But then I admire her courage to move from the incident and make a beautiful life albeit with the help of a loving husband and give all her love to someone else's child. I find that Ahalya is equally responsible for the crime perpetrated on a young teenager as her husband. Not only did she turn a blind eye to her philandering husband doings but her reaction on finding the trauma the young girl went through were a little too cut and dry for me, if you can understand Sandhya. She goes through such a major change in her life just to ensure her husband's child that the girl will give birth to is known in the world as hers. Why?? Was it guilt and an attempt to right the wrong she had done? But she does not seem like a woman with the golden heart to me, even if her decision did result in giving new lease of life to Greeshma and Ana.

More than what the disclosures will do to Arnav and Khushi I dread what Garima will have to go through on finding that her past has caught up with her and how. Ana does not deserve this on the most happiest day of her life. To find out that your birth is the outcome of force and on that you've been abandoned by your birth mother, whatever the circumstances may be, it is to going to be too traumatic for her.

Wonderful writing Sandhya..👏

Sandhya - I am just left speechless by this update. This update is one of the finest piece of writing I have ever had the opportunity to read. It moved me beyond tears. 😭.
There was the story aspect to this update in that now we are finding out about the history and connection between Garima and the Mallik family and then there is the symbolism...the good and evil in society and how it changed this young girls life. I could analyze this update for. Long time...
You covered the pain and joy of the human condition via these characters. Greeshma is the innocent and good person who is defiled by society as represented by Ahaliya and Arjun both. Ahaliya lends a helping hand that leads Garima to danger in the form of Arjun and I have this sense that I am not comfortable with Ahaliya...something is just bothering me about her...she is a gray character whereas Arjun is all black.

The emotional struggle of this young mother is indescribably painful and yet so beautiful. She loves that baby so much and yet the circumstances are such that she is forced to give her up. The prologue hooked me thru this scene in the church and today, after a long journey, you brought us back here and this scene again hit me and left me gasping for breath.

Poor women Greeshma !!!!!!!!!!
Her life is a tragedy . Ahalya Mallik , I don't know what to say about this women , why did she bring Greeshma into Sheesh Mahal knowing very well her husband is a womaniser . Though Ahalya's intentions to help the poor girl was noble , she failed in protecting the young girl . Greeshma should have called Ahalya before surrendering herself to the devil , but fate had other plans . Greeshma lost her dignity to save her father in which she failed miserably , she had to even let go the child whom she could have hold on to as an anchor in her life . So Anya / may be Anjali is the baby . Since you have not mentioned any children in this update I think the baby might be Anjali . This chapter is penned very perfectly .The emotions of these womens were portrayed beautifully .

Hey,
Finally the part that we all were waiting for...to solve the mystery of the prologue. ...the very first reason this journey started...
Having said that...this was the saddest chapter so far... No one should go through what Geeshma went through...a person is seen as a commodity, unexpected pregnancy, never able to bear a child again and then leaving behind someone who is part of you...hoping that the decision that you are taking is in the best interest of the concerned special...no,no one should ever ever go through this...truely "a trampled rose"..

You are truely a blessed writer. ..you have taken us on a beautiful journey. It is heartening how you have given soul to each character. We connect to all your characters and that too on so many different levels. We people are not one - dimensional and that are how your characters are. So it is easy to relate to them. Understand them. Beleive them. And yes love them.

Thanks for the pm.
Happy writing!

I wanted to run an exercise by you, my dear readers...so, I typed out questions. Then changed my mind...that was the confusion.

Since you asked...

Okay...here goes.

I wanted to ask those of you who have already reviewed the chapter a question...Make it two...

1. What would most zamindar wives have done in Ahalya's place? (Zamindars leading the kind of life style Arjun Mallik did was fairly common in the era in question here).

2. What would have happened to Greeshma (No family, father paralysed), had Ahalya simply given her some money (say 5k INR) and left her to her fate at the clinic when she goes to visit Mr. Bhatnagar instead of her decision to help the family?

Look forward to your views :)
