Tom couldn't understand how he had ever felt alone in the months to come. Estella's presence in his life illuminated everything. He hadn't told her anything about who he was and yet she understood him much better than he had expected. And he, he was simply smitten. He had never felt so alive before. His mornings started with wild anticipation for her company and it ended with a restlessness to wake up the next day and see her again. Porch and Duds who had taken well notice that Tom and Estella were together now, had conveniently given them the space they needed.
Estella had, however taken everything that came with Tom quite gracefully. She had become friends with Porch and Duds, and she adored Alex as much as Tom loved him. Alex had found a part of himself in Tom. There was hardly a day when he didn't visit Tom and what made Tom happiest was that Estella never mind having him around. Even Peeves was trying to be nice to her. Although, Tom had had to counter a few of his carpet pullings and had to do some last minute catching to stop Estella from falling over, things were relatively better between the two, at least from Estella's side.
Tom didn't know if he could be anymore surprised by her. She was mesmerizing, beautiful, prettier than anyone he had ever laid eyes on, yet, she had adjusted herself among those that he cared about. Padma, Louisiana, Madam Brown, Twix, even Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny had noticed the flair of love that the New Year had brought into Tom's life.
Yes, love. That's what he had been feeling. He loved her, with all his heart. She made him feel like he belonged with her. He loved everything about her. Her smile, her hair, her eyes, the way she laughed, they way her eyes widened when she didn't understand something, the way she talked endlessly when she was over thinking, the way she leaned against him as if he was made to support her, the way she kissed him back, the way she put her arms around his neck allowing him to hold her like a delicate ornament that would shatter if he let go. He loved knowing that only he was allowed to hold her in his arms.
He had never understood how it had happened. All he knew that it had. He had fallen for Estella Zavatti, in fact, he had fallen in love with her.
