CHAPTER 14
THE GIANTS
Tom's return to Hogwarts was very saddened. Sirius' words still rang in his ears as he stepped into his room and locked the door from inside. He sat on his bed in low despair. He didn't actually have anyone he could call family. Hogwarts was everything to him and everyone here was like family but none could give the warmth of a mother, the pride of a father, the closeness of brothers and sisters. As he thought all this something came across his mind, ' You have me, like a friend, like a father'. Harry was close enough and so was the rest of Hogwarts. But Harry hadn't understood him. He hadn't understood the agony he had lived through when Sirius had literally attacked him although, Ginny had. Perhaps his visit to the house of his ancestors had brought about the very thing that he had feared the most, being alone. As he sat there lost in his own world there was a knock on the door.
"Tom, it's me open the door." It was Estella.
He got up and opened the door. There she was sweet, blond, happy, smiling at his door. She came in the moment he opened the door shutting the door behind her.
"Where were you? You said you'd be back by 5, and it's almost 6.30. Porch and Duds returned quite early. When I asked them they said you were with Professor Harry, when I met Professor Harry, he said he didn't know where I could find you. Do you know how worried..."
Tom lost the trail of what she was saying as he came back to life. His insides breathing again he felt his world full at her sight. The feeling of loneliness ebbing away from him and this time he didn't need to put up a smile it just came naturally.
"Why are you smiling?" Estella stopped speaking seeing him smiling suddenly.
This time there was no hesitation, Tom stepped forward in front of her, "You're so very beautiful and..." He moved even closer as she looked at him with her big beautiful eyes, he opened his mouth to say more of what he wanted to then changed his mind, shut his mouth and kissed her, his hands in her hair and the sweet taste of love in both their hearts as if the kiss said more than Tom would ever have been able to tell.
