You're too sweet Pookhi, thanks as ever for your comment.I'm late again.🤪
Okay anyways..Loved this update.😊
The way Rachna was trying to make the girl jealous was very cool!!😃
And she really got the girl angry. Just hope Shekhar and that girl sort things out.
Love how Rachna was frank to Shekhar about them not meeting again.
Hmm..I'm just waiting for Kabir to come pick Rachna up now..
Beautiful story, please continue soon!!!😃
P.S. Whenever I comment on your story, I always wish that IF had a salute emoticon so I could add that for you in my comments.😆😳
Okay but from me:
Rachna's message came much earlier than he had expected; thus he could not help but wonder what had occurred that her lunch meeting had ended so prematurely. He suggested that he meet her at the cafe itself, but Rachna had instead insisted that she would wait for him outside; convincing Kabir more than ever that indeed something untoward had happened. Seeing her waiting on the side of the road, he pulled the car over allowing Rachna to get in, immediately noticing her strained smile when she greeted him. Consequently, when she leaned back to rest on the head rest and closed her eyes, Kabir decided that a detour was definitely in order.
When the car stopped, she couldn't say if she had actually drifted off to sleep, but at least she could definitely say that she was a bit more relaxed. Blinking her eyes back to alertness, she realized that KT was standing with her door ajar, speaking to her.
"Come Love, we're here."
She got out of the car and on observing her surroundings smiled wanly, "KT, are you trying tell me something; it seems every time we've been at a park lately, you've been upset with me for some reason."
Clasping her hand in his, Kabir raised it to his lips, "Well, I guess that it's time to ensure that we build some happy memories for you." Casting a devilish smile her way he spoke, "You see I would expect that sometime in the future we would want to bring our children to a park, and it really wouldn't do if their mother is traumatized by bad memories, yes?"
He got the response he wanted when she burst out laughing, "Our children, Kabir Tripathi, you haven't even asked me to marry you yet you can speak of children; that's more than a little presumptuous!"
"Well you have me thinking of forever, what else can I imagine? I do hope you are not just leading me on, Rachna Garg." He responded in mock horror.
She moved closer to him affectionately as they continued to walk, "Oh no," she said, "I'm definitely playing for keeps."
After some time they came to rest on a bench. As Rachna moved to lean on KT's shoulder, he stopped her suddenly in order to reach into his inside jacket pocket, producing a chocolate bar, which he offered her.
"Oh God, you're a lifesaver; I'm starving!"
"Considering how early your message came, I wasn't too sure if you had actually had the opportunity to eat."
"None of us did. KT it was just awful! Neeta is so obviously in love with Shekhar; and I swear he loves her too, but he was acting so strangely. Naturally she hated me on sight and our conversation wasn't pleasant at all. She ended up storming off, and instead of worrying about her; it almost seemed as Shekhar was focusing more on the fact that I wouldn't be seeing him again, and supposing that we would end up having to get married after all; it was just a bizarre situation, KT."
"Neeta's anger seems understandable, but did Shekhar not intercede when your conversation got heated?"
"Nay KT, he wasn't even at the table, he didn't come back until after Neeta had gone."
"Even still, didn't he go after her immediately?"
"No and that's the weird thing, I left him there."
"Well, you did what you could, Rachna, you will just have to be satisfied with that, Shekhar will need to handle his own life from now on, okay?"
"Don't worry KT, I've made it perfectly clear to him, I'm far too busy anyway."
"Oh really?"
She broke off a piece of chocolate to feed him and went back to leaning on his shoulder. "Apparently on top of everything I have going on, I now have the responsibility of safeguarding the play habits of the next generation of Tripathi's" she said smiling, "This really is a pretty park; how long can we stay?"
Kabir turned to brush her forehead with his lips, "Today, as long as you need."
They returned to the studio later in the afternoon, and together were able to complete one of the more pressing designs they would need for the next photo shoot. Provided that the tailor was able to complete its fabrication in the next day, they really wouldn't have lost any time due to their excursion earlier in the day. However, now looking at Rachna, in a much happier state than she was previously, Kabir realized that any delay would have been worth the surety of her peace of mind today, and that they were still on schedule was just an extra bonus.
He listened as she talked to Daadi, declining her dinner offer it seemed, as not to hurt her mother's feelings, while assuring Daadi that she would join them for dinner soon and thought how sensitive she was to everyone's needs. Possibly too sensitive, caring too much about others to the point of disregarding her own wellbeing, he thought, with today's events being a prime example. In his opinion, her efforts had done nothing but upset her; and they certainly did not seem to be appreciated by those she sought to help.
Reflecting on what she had divulged about Shekhar's actions in response to her informing that she would no longer maintain contact with him; Kabir was livid. From the start he hadn't been impressed with Shekhar's appeal for aid, and now from the sound of it he was right not to be as it appeared that there was a lot more to Shekhar's request than first seen. Even if Rachna didn't see the issue at hand; it was clearly evident to him. For now he would leave well enough alone as Rachna would no longer be meeting with him, but Kabir knew the sooner his and Rachna's marriage was fixed, the better. Only then would Shekhar realize he had absolutely no rights over Rachna, real or imagined.
Rachna hugged Daadi in farewell and then turned to KT, bestowing him with her brightest smile, and walked to him hugging him tightly heedless to the fact that they were not alone. "Thank you for taking such good care of me today, I love you."
He returned her hug while answering "How could I do anything else, so please don't thank me, Rachna. Just promise me that you will have a good dinner tonight, you didn't eat enough today."
She nodded and stepped out of his arms. "I'll see you tomorrow then. Good Night Daadi."
Kabir walked Rachna to the door and returned with the intention of speaking to Daadi. He found her in the same place where she had been when Rachna had said her goodbyes. "Daadi?"
Wiping at her steady stream of tears Daadi looked at her beloved grandson before she spoke, pointing her finger sternly at him, "Nanhe, I just have one question for you, will you drop everything when I tell you it's time to go and speak to her parents?"
Guiding her to sit on the sofa, Kabir sat beside her and handed her his handkerchief, "Daadi, I would go this very minute if you told me that now was the time."
"Thank you Mummy, I was so hungry."
"Did you work through your lunch hour, Rachna?"
"Lunch was pretty much a non-event Mummy, and I was really busy this afternoon, but I feel so much better now. Shall I help you clean up, Mummy?"
Before her mother could respond, she got distracted by her mobile ringing. She looked at them number and disconnected the call before answering Rachna, "Nay Beta, why don't you go and get some rest now; I know Naomi and Gunjan were looking for you earlier."
"Okay, Good Night Mummy"
"Rest well Rachna."
Pressing to dial the number of the last missed call, she spoke when the call was picked up, "Namaste, I'm sorry I was just with Rachna, how are you?"
"First things first, Shail, did Rachna have a good dinner? This was a matter of great concern you see."
" Yes, in fact she did. I trust though that her eating habits aren't the only reason for your call; may I assume that we will be seeing each other very soon?"
