A collective thank you to everyone for their responses, I've been pretty busy so haven't had time to respond to everyone.

Ironically, Rachna woke from her cry induced sleep to the sensation of tears slowly trickling down her cheeks. When she reached up to wipe them away, her efforts were interrupted by the gentle touch of someone stroking her face removing the final remnants of her overwrought emotions. Emanating warmth and strength, these hands felt so familiar to her, and she turned her face to nestle closer to their soothing touch. Her eyes gradually opened to find darkness; the stillness indicating the lateness of the night. But then a cloud passed overhead. She saw him then, revealed by the moonlight now coming through her bedroom window and smiled up at the face of the one who was ever the source of comfort. "KT, you're here?"

He smiled as he gently traced her lips with the pad of his thumb. "What would dare to keep me away, Rachna?"

"I fell asleep loving you and loved you more in my dreams, but neither compare to how much in I love I am with you now that I'm awake. I will come as soon as I can. "

In his studio, Kabir re-read the message that had come minutes before. It said everything and nothing at the same time, but at last he had finally heard from her. This was the third enigmatic piece of information he had received since Rachna had left, well technically yesterday he thought looking at his watch. All together he was still unable to ascertain what had occurred, but at least this message had come from her directly.

Earlier he had finalized Naomi's fitting himself, shortly after his conversation with Gunjan.

As worried as he had been after Rachna's unexpected departure, Naomi had looked to him for an answer as he adjusted the outfit she wore. "KT, you got to speak her right? Just tell me that she's okay."

"Actually, I didn't get hold of her, Gunjan answered her mobile. Apparently Rachna has taken to bed."

Averting her eyes, Naomi responded, "That doesn't necessarily mean anything."

"Well it tells me two things, one, that Shekhar and his family have probably gone by now, and secondly going to bed was preferable to returning. Collectively it doesn't bode well that what happened was positive." He took a step back to contemplate the outfit she wore, "Okay, I think that should do it. You can go and change now, and that should be it for the day."

Stalling, Naomi stood there until KT looked down at her. "If she's still not up I will try to find what happened and text you, but I'm sure she will be in contact with you soon."

"Thank you, Naomi."

"I'm sorry, Ra still asleep, not much I can share right now, but don't give up on her."

Attempting to interpret what this had meant, KT wasn't sure if silence would not have been preferable as it still didn't give him an idea as to what had happened, but he replied his thanks to Rachna's friend all the same. Obviously, all he could do was await answers from Rachna herself.

And wait he seem destined, as neither the first two nor Rachna's message confirmed what had happened, but still at least he felt better for the acknowledgment from her. Looking at his watch, he cursed the time, he wanted to meet with her badly, but knew the best he could do right now was to respond to the message she had sent. He just needed to know that she was alright; anything else could be dealt with at first light. 'Unless.. No' he thought, he would not consider anything else, but he knew that if she was in real distress, no one or nothing would stop him from going to her; irrespective of the time.

Warm milk. Warm milk was exactly what she needed Rachna thought as she walked downstairs to the kitchen. She looked at her phone; no answer yet. In all probability he was asleep, which she would normally have been glad for, but she would give anything to meet with him right now; to let him know that everything was okay. She couldn't wait to share this news with him. Stepping off the final stair she was surprised to see the lights on below, and even more so her father sitting alone.

"Papa?"

"Rachna, beta why are you up so late?"

"Papa, I've slept most of the afternoon and evening, I have a headache from missing dinner and was thinking of warming up some milk. But why are you up; are you okay Papa? Shall I call Mummy?"

"Nay Beta, there is no need for that. And perhaps it is good that you are up, as it is because of you that I'm up as well. Maybe, it is a good time to talk after all."

"Ji Papa, I have so much I want to tell you." She looked down at the empty cup in front of him. "Let me get you some more tea, and I will get my milk Tik hai?"

"Ji Beta."

Returning minutes later, she placed the tray down in front her father and went to pass him his cup. In exchange he handed her, her mobile.

"Beta, is this what you had hoped to talk about earlier today?"

I just need to know that you are okay. Let me know this at least, we can handle forever later.

Rachna looked at the message and then at her father. Resolutely she answered her him, "Yes Papa, I'm in love with KT; I have been for months. I hope you can tell from his message that it is mutual."

She watched her father close his eyes, his lips tightening in displeasure. " How dare he.."

"How dare he what, Papa? Accept my love and love me back? What is wrong in that Papa?"

"He should know better that's what's wrong, he..."

"Dayal, you won't win this argument."

Both of them turned to see Rachna's mother walking into the room. "She loves him and he loves her, there is nothing we can do about that fact."

"Are you telling me then Rachna , that your acceptance of this alliance was a complete lie then; your travel to study in the UK all part of a plan you and he came up with?"

"Papa I never wanted this alliance, but I couldn't get that through to anyone about that, so going to the UK was my plan to delay things, solely my plan. KT knew nothing about it."

"And yet he willingly provided the recommendation letter, I don't believe that."

"He didn't know Papa, neither about my alliance, nor my reason for leaving. I hurt him terribly by doing so, but I can say for certain he did not learn the truth until I came back."

Her father paused, pondering her words.

"Papa, believe me everything has worked out for the best. Had Shekhar's family not cried off, I was fully prepared to voice my opposition. I would not have married him under any circumstance."

Whether it was her was her frankness or just her sheer determination that got through to her father, she didn't know, but evidently he had nothing left to discuss with her. Her mother smiled at her encouragingly. "Rachna Beta, why don't you take your milk with you while I talk to your father."

"Yes Mummy."

"She's not a little girl anymore is she?"

"No Dayal, she isn't."

"Shail, we will need to speak to him as soon as possible."

"Yes, my understanding is that he has been anxious to visit for some time."

Gesturing in the direction Rachna had gone, "Well it appears he is up right now."

Laughing his wife shook her head, "I think we can wait a few hours yet, but before we do that may I request that we speak to one other person first?"

The milk seemed to have done the trick, and she was wide awake now, there was no way she could possibly fall back to sleep. She considered calling him and then thought better of it. Smiling to herself, Rachna realized that she had something that she could do instead to pass the time. She went to her dresser and to get the readymade cones she had purchased earlier. It wouldn't be elaborate, that she would save for an event she dreamed would happen in the very near future, but she was sure the design would still be understood.
