Chapter 20 :-
After settling on the sofa, "Abb jab mai sach bol hi raha hoon, toh let me tell you the whole truth!" Vardhan told and adjusted his specs.
"Let me start from the beginning. Remember the first week of his absence after the incident?" Vardhan asked. *The first week of his absence.*
FLASHBACK :-
FITE TERRACE -
Randhir was on the terrace lying down in one corner like a lifeless soul. He had lost everything. He did not leave the terrace. He looked like man who doesn't know what food means. No one knew where he was, no one bothered to.
"RANDHIIRRR!" Vardhan sir shrieked.
Randhir turned back.
"Kya kar rahe the tum?' Vardhan asked pulling him back.
"Relax sir, mai suicide nahi karunga. I am strong!" Randhir told and chuckled but weakness reflected in his words.
"Randhir why are you doing this to yourself? I knw tumne koi galti nahi kiya hai. We can prove it. Now c'mon," Vardhan told.
Randhir jerked Vardhan sir and went to the corner.
"Aap jaao," Randhir told like a little kid.
"Randhir chalo, we'll prove you are innocent!" Vardhan told.
"Prove? I don't want to prove anything. I already know the truth. I am just not bothered," Randhir replied.
"What do you mean?" Vardhan asked now sternly.
"Sir, if Niharika mam would trust an audio-clip or a video-clip instead of trusting you? Then how would you feel? Randhir asked.
"Broken," came Vardhan's immediate reply. He mentally kicked himself for saying so.
"Exactly my condition! Here I am you and Farzi is Niharika mam," Randhir told.
"But why don't you want to prove yourself?" Vardhan asked.
"If she knows what I am then she should have trusted me. She didn't," Randhir told and continued, "If she didn't trust me or give me a freaking chance to explain myself then why should I go around her like a small puppy? Don't I have any kind of self-respect? I too have a heart sir, I may seem heartless to the entire world but yes, I do have a heart and it beats. She broke it beyond repair and now I don't want it to get healed for someone else to come and break it again. That will be too much sir. Every woman in my life does the same thing sir. They just leave me and go on their own way. Sir, she promised me that she will be by my side forever, at my good times and at my bad times as well and now she left me believing a f**king video! I have tried to talk to her and the others but no one bothered to even look at me. This is not Randhir sir. This absolutely is not Randhir," Randhir told and broke down.
"So you think this is Randhir?" Vardhan told pointing a finger at Randhir.
"Huh!?" Randhir exclaimed.
"The Randhir I knew was someone who had a class - Him, people crave for him. His attitude, people die for it. Intelligence, which can even identify the tiniest mistake made by the best lecturer of FITE. Charm, A thing all the girls drool over for. Passion, That makes every damn person jealous and most of all; Smirk, one flash could kill a thousand people! Who are you?" Vardhan asked.
Getting no response, Vardhan continued, "Randhir I am sure you aren't a loser to fritter away this precious time you have. You have to become something. You have to fulfil your dreams. Get up young man, make the world follow your footsteps!" Vardhan told.
"Par Sanyukta? Her mere presence breaks me down!" Randhir told and looked down.
"Okay, keep minimal interaction with Sanyukta. Don't bother about her!" Vardhan told.
"And Lollipop? I mean Parth?" Randhir asked.
"I have a solution for that too," Vardhan told.
"But..." Randhir started but was interrupted.
"No buts! Just listen to me. First go and have something. You look like a hungry lion!" Vardhan told.
Randhir just nodded and made way to the canteen.
"This is what happened," Vardhan told as he finished.
"Randhir had to bear all that?" Sanyukta asked.
"Much more," Vardhan replied.
"Where was he the second week?" Parth asked.
"Oh yes that," Vardhan told. *The second week of his absence.*
FLASHBACK :-
VARDHAN'S CABIN -
"Sir I have eaten. Can I get my new room keys?" Randhir asked.
"New room? When did I mention anything about a new room?" Vardhan asked.
"Sir you told that you have a solution about Parth's thing too so I assumed that I will be given a different room," Randhir told.
"Randhir, don't you know all the rooms in the FITE hostel are full?" Vardhan asked.
"Sir then?" Randhir asked.
"Pack your bags and come back here," Vardhan replied.
Randhir was confused but he chose to do as Vardhan sir had asked him to. He packed his bags and came to Vardhan's cabin along with his punching bag.
Vardhan looked at the punching bag with a confused expression.
"My bestfriend sir," Randhir told and patted his punching bag.
"Well. Follow me," Vardhan told and led the way.
Randhir was extremely shocked when Vardhan sir had taken him to the Staff quarters.
"Sir?" Randhir asked.
"You are staying with me Randhir. I can even keep an eye on you this way," Vardhan told.
"But sir," Randhir told but was again interrupted.
"No buts Randhir. I am not asking you, I am ordering you," Vardhan told.
"Okay," Randhir told and accepted defeat.
"Now go in and get ready. Look like the Randhir Singh Shekhawat I decribed!" Vardhan told stressing on the words I described.'
"Sir I will need some time," Randhir told.
"Take your own time," Vardhan told and handed over the keys, "Choose any room on the top floor. All are clean."
Vardhan sir was about to leave but Randhir had stopped him.
"Yes Randhir?" Vardhan asked.
"Why are you doing this sir?" Randhir asked.
"Because you are my favorite and best student!" Vardhan told, "And now please stop your silly questions. I am really bad at mushy-mushy stuff!"
Randhir laughed at this. "I am worse," Randhir told.
"Sir can I call you dada'?" Randhir asked out of the blue.
"What?" Vardhan asked confused.
"Can I call you dada?" Randhir repeated himself.
"Why?" Vardhan asked.
"You are like the elder brother and a cring father I never had. That's why," Randhir told, "Please?"
"Why dada?" Vardhan asked.
"It means brother in Bengali," Randhir told.
"Bengali?" Vardhan asked.
"Isn't it your mother-tongue sir?" Randhir asked.
"Yes it is, now get in!" Vardhan told and started walking.
Randhir just stood there silently expecting him to turn back and give him approval to address him as dada.' Finally, Vardhan nodded and gave his approval. Randhir smiled and went inside.
He changed back to the old Randhir completely in one week, the stone-hearted one. The only things different between the new Randhir and the old one was that he rarely spoke and he never maintained any kind of social life. He had distanced himself from everyone, from the outside world. Now his world contained only machines, books, stationery, studies, tools and ofcourse dada.
"This was the reason behind his second week of absence," Vardhan concluded.
"So that's why he calls you dada?" Parth asked.
"Yes," Vardhan replied.
"Why did you do this for him sir?" Sanyukta asked.
"So you wanted me to allow him to spoil his entire life like you did?" Vardhan told now sounding angry. He didn't mean it as a taunt but it turned out to be one.
"No wonder he loves and respects you so much!" Parth butted in saving Sanyukta from her guilt-trip.
"That he does!" Vardhan told and smiled..
"Sir? Do you think we will succeed?" Sanyukta asked teary-eyed.
"Sanyukta, Randhir hai! Usko tum dono se accha kaun jaanta hai?" Vardhan told.
"Sir aapne hume sab kuch bataya hai par hum yaha jiske liye aaye the woh toh bataya hi nahi!" Parth told.
"Arey haan sir," Sanyukta told wiping her tears away.
"Okay," Vardhan sir told and after taking a deep breathe he continued, "Sanyukta, Ranveer tumhara aur Randhir ka beta hi hai!"
"Pa...par kai...kaise?" Sanyukta stuttered.
"Humne toh...uss couple...baby ko..." Parth told jumbling up the words in the sentence he wanted to actually tell.
"Agar Randhir ko bata chala ki maine tum dono ko sab kuch bataya then he will kill me. Shhh now, listen!" Vardhan told.
They shut their mouths and nodded their heads. *The day he fought for his child and got him back.*
FLASHBACK :-
VARDHAN'S RESIDENCE -
"Dada where were you the whole day yesterday?" Randhir asked.
"In my cabin," Vardhan told.
"Really? I did go there. I didn't find you," Randhir told.
"Maybe I must have gone out when you came looking for me," Vardhan told.
"Dada? Is there something I should know?" Randhir asked as soon as Vardhan entered into the house.
"Umm...nothing!" Vardhan fumbled.
"Dada?" Randhir told suspiciously.
"Randhir you have become a father with a baby boy," Vardhan told.
"What?" Randhir told happily.
He had a wide smile plastered on his face but it disappeared after a few minutes. He fell on the floor with a thud. "No one told me. I am the father. I wanted to be there at that special moment. I wanted to feel his first touch. I wanted to feel his breath. I wanted to look into those tiny eyes. I wanted to whisper in his ears that I love him. Why didn't she tell me? She knew I was waiting for the moment more than anything! Why dada? Why?" Randhir cried.
"Shh," Vardhan hissed. He absolutely had no idea how to break the actual truth to him.
"Dada? I want to see him," Randhir told and looked at Vardhan.
"Randhir..." Vardhan started but couldn't complete.
"Dada? Anything else I should know?" Randhir asked.
He couldn't lie. He didn't want to. Those teary-eyes spoke volumes. He just couldn't look at Randhir's eyes and lie.
He broke the news.
Randhir was numb.
After a while, Randhir wiped his tears and ran out. Vardhan ran behind him calling out to him.
Randhir went to the Union Hospitals. He enquired about the couple who had taken their baby. He got no details. He threatened the receptionist to tell him but no avail. Just then Vardhan had entered the scene and stopped Randhir from bashing the receptionist. He was angry. His eayes were red. Vardhan took Randhir to one of the doctors of the hospital who also happened to be his friend. With his help, they got the couple's details.
Immediately Randhir, Vardhan along with a lawyer went to the couple's house. He knocked and they opened the door.
"Yes? Whom do you want to meet?" the man asked.
"My baby," Randhir shouted.
"What?" the man told stunned.
Randhir ran inside and picked up the baby from the cradle. He somehow knew it was his son. He was mesmerised by the cuteness of the baby. He was a fragile little healthy baby.
"Excuse me? It is our baby," the woman told.
"Sorry?" Randhir told sternly and put the baby in the cradle carefully, "Did you give birth to him?"
"No. We adopted him," the man told.
"Exactly. He is my blood!" Randhir told.
"You're lying. We were told that the baby doesn't have a father!" the man told.
"Shut up!" Randhir told.
The baby started crying. Randhir picked it up and it stopped crying and started smiling. He put the baby back into the cradle and signalled everyone to leave to the other room.
The woman started crying.
"Stop crying," Randhir told sternly.
"But we have adopted him," the woman told and cried harder.
Randhir felt bad for them. His anger suppressed.
"You are crying for the baby you have adopted and took care merely for a day. I took care of him for 7 months! Think of me," Randhir told.
"But your wife told..." the man started and stopped.
"She is not my wife. I know, she must have told the baby doesn't have a father!" Randhir told.
"Not your wife?" the man asked.
"I am just 19. She was my girlfriend," Randhir told. He didn't want to lie.
"Then? You'll broke up?" the man asked. He seemed very interested.
"None of your business. Anyways, if you don't give me my baby I can take it legally too!" Randhir told.
"It is legally our baby. We have adopted it," the man told.
"I am sorry. If you remember the adoption papers need approval and the signatures of both the parents and it has only one. I am the other one and I don't approve of it. So I can claim MY baby legally and he isn't yours," Randhir told calmly but firmly.
The man was dazed. He didn't know he was talking to Randhir Singh Shekhawat. The lawyer came forward and explained Randhir's clause to them. He even told that they could be jailed for this offence.
The woman started crying. When asked for the reason, her husband told the previous day's incidents - How they got the baby, how they themselves cannot conceive a baby and everthing.
Randhir felt bad for them.
"I am not giving you my baby. But yes I can help you with your progeny problem!" Randhir told.
"How?" the man asked.
"Come with me. Sir aap champ ka khayal rakhiye," Randhir told and went out follwed by the couple and the lawyer.
Randhir drove to an orphanage.
"Chaliye," Randhir got out and went inside followed by the couple.
He went in and spoke to one of the people there and signalled them to follow him.
The man opened a door and left.
"All yours," Randhir told.
There lay hundreds of babies in cradles and many people tending them, feeding them and taking care of them.
"None of the child present here have either of their parents," Randhir told.
"What?" the couple told.
"Yes, not even one! You can legally adopt any baby without any problem. Lawyer uncle will help you," Randhir told.
"But what if their parents come and take the baby away from us again?" the woman told close to tears.
"Let me repeat myself, not even one baby present here has even one of their parents alive," Randhir told clearly, "No one can ever trouble you in the future!"
The woman smiled which made Randhir happy. She went to select the baby she is going to adopt.
"Young man, you are a very good man! Your baby is very lucky I must say," the man told happily.
"Thankyou," Randhir told smiled thinking of the little life he held a few minutes ago.
The lady came back holding two babies. A boy and a girl. She was happy.
"Thankyou beta," the woman told and caressed Randhir's cheek.
"Koi baat nahi," Randhir told and smiled.
"Thankyou beta," the man told who just came after finishing the formalities.
"Chaliye, mai aapko aapke ghar drop kar deta hoon," Randhir told and walked to the car.
The couple's house :
Everyone was happy.
Randhir was contented. He had a reason to live now. He had a new life to take care of. He missed Sanyukta a lot. He wanted to give everything to his champ but he was scared whether he would be able to give the most important thing required for a child - a mother's love. He grew up without it, infact without even his dad's care. His dad was an alcoholic; he had recovered completely a year or two ago because of Randhir. He was scared that his son will too grow up with out mother's love. He was sure that his son will never have emptiness in his life; he knew would never let that happen. He decided that Ranveer will be his first priority in everything. He cried silently looking at his child sleeping in the cradle without a care in the world.
Randhir slowly went closer to the baby and whispered in his ears, "I promise champ, I will be the best father in the world and I will make you the best man in the world."
"Beta?" the woman told.
"Haan?" Randhir told and wiped his tears.
"Thankyou," the woman told.
"Arey kitni baar thankyou bologe aap? Its okay," Randhir told.
"Mujhe aapse ek aur favor chahiye," the woman told.
"Haan boliye," Randhir asked.
"Can you name my babies?" the woman asked and smiled.
"Me?" Randhir asked.
"Haan beta. Tumhari vajah se hi hume do baache mile hai," the woman told.
"Par aap apne pasand ka koi naam rakhiye na?" Randhir told.
"Please beta?" the woman pleaded.
"Okay," Randhir told and walked to the babies.
"Dada any name suggestions?" Randhir asked cheerfully.
"Huh!? No!" Vardhan told immediately and everyone laughed.
"Okay. I would name them Parth and Sanyukta," Randhir told.
Vardhan was shocked.
"Sanyukta. Parth. Nice names beta! Kiske hai?" the man asked.
"My love and my bestfriend," Randhir told and smiled.
"Woh uski maa?" the woman asked.
"Haan," Randhir told.
"Toh iska naam Sanyukta kyu rakh rahe ho?" the man asked.
"Kya matlab?" Randhir asked.
"Matlab iss ladki ne tumhe humhare bete se door kiya hai na? Nafrat nahi karte?" the man asked.
"Nahi. Woh kabhi nahi jo sakta. She is one awesome girl," Randhir told.
"Theek hai beta, waise bhi ye naam mujhe bohot acche lage!" the woman told.
"I think hume chalne chahiye. Hum chalte hai," Randhir told and picked up his baby carefully and walked out.
"Beta iska khayal rakhna," the woman told.
"Apne aap se bhi zyaada rakhunga," Randhir told and looked at his baby lovingly.
"Bye beta," the couple told.
"Bye," Randhir told and they left.
In the car...
"Randhir kaha jaa rahe hum? Wrong route!" Vardhan told.
"Sahi jaa rahe hai dada," Randhir told.
Randhir stopped at his house. He and Vardhan accompanied by the baby went in.
"Papa!" Randhir told.
"Randhir? Vardhan? Tum dono yaha?" Harsh asked.
"Papa aapko kisi se milana hai," Randhir told.
"Kis se?" Harsh asked.
"Uss se!" Randhir told and pointed out to Ramu kaka who was carrying the baby and smiling.
"Aapka grandson!" Randhir told.
He ran and took him in hie arms. Both Randhir's dad and Ramu kaka were extremely happy to welcome a new member in their life.
Randhir told his dad everything and asked him to takecare of his baby. He gladly agreed.
"Hum chalte hai papa," Randhir told after spending time with his baby.
"Okay beta. Aur champ ki chinta mat karo! Mai hoon," he told.
"Okay papa bye," Randhir told and was about to leave when his dad called him back.
"Haan?" Randhir told.
"Naam kya rakha hai tumne?" his dad asked.
"Ranveer! Ranveer Singh Shekhawat!" Randhir told proudly and left.
In the car...
"Sanyukta pe gussa ho?" Vardhan asked.
"Haan, what else do you expect?" Randhir told and started the engine.
"Hmm," Vardhan replied.
"But I have started respecting her more!" Randhir told.
"What!?" Vardhan asked bewildered.
"Haan. Champ ke future ke liye she got ready to give up her own blood. For his future she sacrificed her own blood! I am proud of her," Randhir told proudly.
"Then? Why did you bring him back?" Vardhan told.
"I ain't great like her. Kuch bhi ho jaaye I want him to be with me. I cannot sacrifice him. He is my only reason to live. I fell in love with him the first time I saw him only," Randhir told.
Vardhan just patted his back.
Randhir used to come over his house every Sunday to meet his champ and whenever possible he would look at his baby through video-chat. He recorded all those chats. He studied harder and harder. He missed his champ every minute he wasn't with him. He thought he never loved anyone more tha he loved him. This time he was sure that the one he loves will not go away from him. He would not. NEVER!
"I love you champ," he told one day and slept hugging Ranveer's picture tight.
All the while Sanyukta had been crying. She was shocked.
"Randhir did so much to get his blood back? Why didn't he ever tell me then?" her mind asked.
"Did you tell him?" her heart questioned back.
"But I was angry on him," her mind defended.
"You had no reason to be. He had all reasons to be," her heart told.
"But if he would tell me once," her brain told.
"Oh shut up! Did you tell him about Ranveer's birth atleast?" her heart argued. She didn't know why her heart always took Randhir's side whenever there was an argument between itself and her brain concerned to Randhir. Maybe her heart loved Randhir more than its owner.
The war between her mind and heart stopped when Vardhan called out to her.
"Sanyukta?" Vardhan called out.
"Haan!?" Sanyukta told.
"Kya soch rahi ho?" Vardhan asked.
"Sir, Randhir ko meri vajah se kitna kuch jhelna pada. He had to bring up Ranveer, being a famous personality so many questions must have been raised against the maternity of Ranveer aur usse woh sab kuch akele answer karna pada!" Sanyukta told and started crying.
"I know right and sab kuch hum dono ke vajah se," Parth told.
"I am sure woh mujhe abb apni mom se bhi zyaada hate karta hoga!" Sanyukta told.
"Mujhe bhi!" Parth told.
After a while Sanyukta got up and shouted, "SHITTT!"
"Kya hua?" Vardhan and Parth told together.
"Ranveer!" Sanyukta told and shivered a bit.
"Ranveer kya?" Parth told.
"Ranveer toh Randhir ka microxerox hai na?" Sanyukta asked.
Parth nodded.
"Then even he will hate his mother for what she did to his father and him," Sanyukta told.
"Sanyukta?" Parth told.
"Really Parth. I am sure Ranveer hates me too especially now when he knows that I am his mother!" Sanyukta told.
"Tum kya bol rahi ho?" Parth asked.
"Parth, there are 100% chances that Ranveer will hate me for what I have put Randhir through!" Sanyukta argued.
"But..." Parth started but stopped knowing that every word Sanyukta told was true.
Sanyukta sat down sobbing.
"My own blood will hate me now!" she muttered.
"Sanyu, kuch nahi hoga! We'll sort it out," Parth told, "For now let's go back."
Sanyukta nodded.
"Chalo! Sir aap bhi humare saath chaliye na?" Parth asked.
Vardhan thought that would be a good idea and he agreed. They drove to Shekhawat Mansion.
