Next Day -At The Jha's

If you wanted to see the definition of commotion the Jha mansion would be the best example to set a forth. From the moving of Khushi and Payal's items to the guest from to the decorations of the mansion, to the tight security arrangements, not one person was sitting idly. The guest list was limited to the Jha's, the Raizada's, Gupta's (of course) and a few other very close family friends.

As the evening neared, Payal felt the butterflies in her stomach flutter away. Khushi who was always aware and highly empathetic of the feelings of those close to her decided she'd make her sister feel better.

Khushi: Gigi, what are you doing?!

Payal: Pagal, can't you see? I'm putting away the jewelry Choti Maa gave me.

Khushi: Gigi, can I say something?

Payal: Mhm, yes Khushi.

Khushi: You're the world's best sister ! Ever ! Really. I'll miss you so much. But know that if you ever need anything, I'm here for you Gigi. You have been there for me always and I will too.

Payal: Shush Khushi. Just shush. Come here and give me a hug.

Khushi embraced Payal in a hug. While in a hug, NK walked in.

NK: Hey hey hey ! I want a part of this hug !

NK jumped on the bed and hugged them tightly. As they released each other from the embrace, Khushi and NK's bickering began.

Khushi: Please tell me why I keep you around as my best friend

NK: What's that supposed to mean you moti?!

Khushi: I'm not FAT ! You are a monkey !

NK: Yeah yeah, keep dreaming !

Khushi: First my Buaji and now Gigi. Taking away all my favorite people from me !

NK: They just love me more, stop being jealous.

Khushi: Jealous, my foot !

Payal: Okay, enough enough ! Khushi, you aren't going to be bidding adieu anytime soon. You're going to intern with AR right?

Khushi: I don't know..anymore Gigi. Technically, I don't need the internship anymore. I'm about to finish my masters degree. I don't want to delay that. I didn't even finish my BA till late...because of..but anyways, I took this accelerated Masters program so I could catch up to everyone and I just have one course left. Thank God the university is allowing me to take it at a university here. But then I have another marketing course that's a requirement with the internship at AR. And the 6 month course at NIFT. I don't know if I'll be able to handle it.It mean a whole year I'll be here in Delhi. Without Ama and Bauji. And two months without you?

Payal: You can do it, of course you can. But if you don't want to have a hassle, complete your Masters degree first. It's 3 months of one course. As for your internship with AR, NK can just tell Arnavji that it won't be possible anymore -- or if you can attend when it's possible. It's fine. Your classes in NIFT can be started a semester later. So breathe.

NK: Yeah butterfly, just chill. Your class for your last masters class will start next month in September. My wedding is for the end of this month, which is what two and half weeks away?And then Di and aunty, uncle will leave after my wedding. Gigi and Bhai's marriage is going to happen in December. You'll be done with your masters. And your semester with NIFT will begin at the end of January. With the beginning of the year, other responsibilities are going to pile up too. So get everything set, before then.

Khushi: Okay, I can handle that. Thank you ! What would I do without you two?!

Khushi glanced at the clock.

Khushi: Oh my God, it's 3 pm ! Gigi and I have to go to the parlor to get Gigi ready. Oh God, Lavanya must be waiting to go. Shit, we're late. Let's go !!

Engagement Night

Though the affair was limited just to family, there was hustling and bustling everywhere. The arrangements had to be perfect. Absolutely perfect. Neither of Akash's chachu's wanted Akash to feel like anything was missing. Finally they were going to be completing a important responsibility for Akash's parents.

Anurag and Deepak Jha were standing respectively with their wives waiting to welcome the Gupta's. The Raizada's had already arrived of course. NK, Lavanya and Akash were in his room waiting for the Gupta's arrival.

Akash: Is she here yet NK?

NK: Bhai, you're so impatient !

Lavanya: Yeah Bhai, it's only been 5 minutes. They should be coming. They're only in the guest house.

NK: Khushi has given strict orders that we can only bring you out after Di is there. Something about surprising you with how beautiful Di is looking.

Lavanya: Oh man, she really is Bhai.

Akash: Both of you shut up, NK check your phone again ! Did Khushi text you?

NK: Okay, okay. Oh ! Yes, she said they're walking here and to bring you out in about two minutes. Well the text was from a minute ago, so let's get going !

NK and Lavanya made their entrance in to the hall and about 30 seconds later Akash walked in while Payal was at the same time through the front entrance. The spotlights shined on both as they met each others eyes. Akash tried his best not to let his mouth drop at the beauty before him. Payal felt like a teenage girl, finally getting a chance with her first love. He looked so handsome.

They both were secretly thanking their luck when they took their seats on the small stage that had been set up for them.

The lights turned on and everyone clapped.

Devani: Garima Bhabhi, Shashi Bhaisab, please come on the stage. Khushi, you too. Anurag, Deepak, Madhu, NK, Lavanya, please come as well.

The rings were presented.

Garima: Beta, put the ring on Akash bitwa.

Payal exchanged the ring and then it was Akash's turn.

Devani: Akash, put the ring on Payal's finger.

Akash grabbed Payal's hand and slowly slid the finger on to her hand.

Khushi dramatically announced " I now pronounce you fiancs"

Everyone clapped loudly. There was happiness all around.

Akash and Payal got off the stage and went to take the blessings of all the elders. The party soon came to an end as it was a small event and Akash had requested simplicity because he knew that the wedding would be pompous enough.

Next morning

Khushi woke up, rolled next to her who was sitting up admiring her ring and blushing.

Khushi: Aye haye Gigi you look like you're in love !

Payal: Chup ! I am not.

Khushi: How do you know you're not?
Payal: Because I do. I really really him Khushi but it's not love, yet. But I'm scared.

Khushi: Why Gigi?

Payal: I don't know. I mean, living far away from everyone...and there way of life is much different than ours. I don't know if I'll fit..or if I'm right for him.

Khushi: Gigi, it's your time to shush now. You're an amazing person and not just because you're my Gigi but because that's who you are. Yes, I know it's a new experience but I know you are perfect for this family and for Akash Bhai. So please, don't be scared.

Just then, Payal's phone rang. Khushi scrambled to grab it from the side table.

Khushi: Ooo Gigi it's Akash Bhaiii !!!

Khushi picked up the phone.

Khushi: Good morning Jeeju. It's only 8 am and you're already missing Gigi huh?

Akash: My devilish sister in law, please give the phone to your sister.

Khushi: Tsk, tsk no value I tell you. Gigi here, take the phone, your fianc doesn't want to talk to me.

Payal took the phone and started speaking to him. Khushi in the meantime went to grab her things to go shower.

When Khushi got out of the shower she saw her sister sitting on the bed, her face pale. Khushi worried, rushed to her sisters side.

Khushi: Gigi what happened? Did Akash Bhai say something? Gigi, come on say something, you're scaring me.

Payal: Woh, he...he said he wants to take me out, on a date.

Khushi burst in to laughter.

Khushi: That's so cute Gigi, so what's wrong?

Payal: I don't know, what am I going to do? Should I say yes?

Khushi: Gigi!! You haven't said yes?! Say yes. You can do it ! I have an idea. Ask Akash Bhai if you guys can go on a double date with NK and Lavanya! It'll be perfect and you won't feel uncomfortable.

Payal: What about you? What are you going to do?

Khushi: Oh Gigi, I'm not trying to be the third wheel on your guys date. Anyways, I'm going to get dressed and just go get somet thing sorted out at the university and pay a visit to NIFT too. In the evening, I'll spend time with Ama and Bauji. You, have fun! Okay?

Payal: Are you sure?

Khushi: Yes, for sure Gigi.

Khushi grabbed her bag and files. She rushed to say good morning to her parents and left to leave.

Khushi knew that after 3 months her life was to change, drastically.

With that thought Khushi left her house, ready to take her destiny..her zindagi ke mausam, in her own hands.
