Keep it up!This chapter was awesome. Poor Kria. I can almost imagine her.So you plan to keep some serious suspense eh?He he he... I am fine with it until you disclose it at the right time 😆Update soon!Waiting for it!
Chapter Six
Sharon was still lost in the music being delivered exclusively to her ears by the ear plugs she wore. Kria was facing troubles in laughing her heart out. The situation demanded such an act. But - she wasn't able to.
It wasn't that she didn't wish to laugh and intake all the happiness and lightness of the moment. Uh - who would? Nor did she wish to stay all geeky and dead serious before Sharon. Obviously not! After all, she herself had planned to stay calm and normal. And moreover, Sharon had already done a great deed by sharing with her the epic secret of her marriage been forcibly fixed with Swayam. But her indifference towards the fact bearing where Kria had been the previous night, continued to irk Kria. Yet, she was trying her best to stay as composed & sane as she could. And laughing was one of those normal traits to her, that she couldn't survive without. And even after all these happenings, this particular fact was all the same.
It was just that after all those crying sessions, this had come as something new to her system. She was somewhat not able to believe that she was allowed to laugh her heart out - officially.
And finally there was a yell.
"KRIAAA...!"
She came back, startled. Then peeping down the window again, she let out a meagre giggle. And finally deciding that she had delayed it too much already, she called Sharon.
"Oye!" She clicked her fingers in space, attracting Sharon's attention.
"Uh-yeah?" Sharon hurriedly pulled the wires off, mingling them with her wildly scattered soft curls, in the process.
Rolling her eyes at the sight of Miss.Mess, Kria sighed.
"Someone needs your help girlie. Reach out when you're free." Sighing again, Kria dropped back in her bed and began searching for the device called 'mobile-phone' that she'd yanked off somewhere on hearing the loud noise.
"Huh? Help? Who? Yourself?" Sharon wrinkled her nose, confused.
"Hells, you dimwit!" Kria grunted under her breath. Making a face at the confused soul, she clarified. "Downstairs madam! Khidki ke neeche dekh.." She eye-pointed the window.
Even more confused, Sharon almost crawled over to the window - continuously scratching her head on her way upto there. Peeping down, a shocked cum terrified (and perhaps, pretty loud) gasp left her mouth. Kria giggled again, as she pulled her copy of 'Never Kiss Your Bestfriend' out of the sidetable.
"SURESH! WHAT THE..." Sharon whisper-screamed as she saw Swayam stuck between the window sill of their room and the sun shade shielding the preceding floor's window. And hanging - literally!
"Heyi!" He gave her a nervous smile.
"God, not again!" Sharon face-palmed herself. "Here, come up." She leant as low as possible and forwarded him her hand for help.
Grabbing it graciously, Swayam pulled himself up and hopped inside the room. Dusting himself clean, he smiled meekly at her.
"Heyi!"
Sighing, Sharon rolled her eyes.
"Now can I please know the reason of your making such a grand entry to my room?"
"Umm... I am sorry, I really am. But the reason I have is really important. I had to tell you something, urgently." He fluttered his eyelids and gave another tight smile, evidently showcasing his nervousness.
"Excuse me, Mr. Shekhawat! Do you have no sense at all?" Sharon burst out at him. "I mean, are you actually this dumb? If you were to tell me something, you could have called me up. And if it was urgent, toh message kar dete. Thats it! When does climbing up pipes and sliding past windows come into scene?" And she went on.
Swayam listened to the screaming lady in silence. After what seemed like ages, she stopped, making a last sarcastic remark.
"And - koi marr gaya hai kya, jo tum itni urgency declare kar rahe ho?" She narrowed her eyes at him.
"Ab tak to nahi mara, but bohot jald marne wala hai." He sighed.
She plainly raised her brows, as an outcome of the curiosity that had suddenly slipped into her disgusted self.
And watching all this quarelling, Kria could only dream.. How beautiful would life had been if Sharon had been loyally committed towards Swayam. She imagined herself with Amish and Sharon with Swayam, sitting together in the hostel room hideously. Aah! What immense pleasure would it all have provided her with.. If only Sharon wouldn't have cheated! Amish, Sharon, Swayam - all of the important people of her life would have been happily with her. And herself, happily with them. And Reyansh?
Complicated topics to be dealt with later, please. She checked her brain.
'Complicated'. Why so? Did she have an answer? Her heart quietly sat back, giving up. But, her brain had an explanation. The reason was simple. 'Complicated' because he himself had made it so. He was being over generous and extremely caring for her in spite of being a mere strqmger. Although they had been in touch since a week or so, it didn't allow such emotional intimacy at this initial stage of knowing each other. Certainly.
And hence, complicated. She told herself and focused back into her book.
"Dad rung up an hour ago. Our engagement has been fixed for this weekend." Swayam was heard saying.
Sharon gasped, in a futile attempt of reflecting her shock. And there was this terrible stream of coughing emerging out of a badly stunned Kria.
"And to be more clear - today is Tuesday, already." He chuckled in despair.
Sharon fell on the floor with a thump. Kria kept her book aside and emptied a glass of water into herself.
"You're not joking, right?" She nervously eyed Swayam.
He nodded in negation.
"I truly wish to have been. But sadly, I'm not."
"Engagement..." Sharon's terrified voice came out as a whisper.
Understanding the complicacy and tenderness of the situation, Kria hopped down and grabbed Sharon by her shoulders.
"Get up girl! You're a strong soul! Tum aise breakdown nahi ho sakti Sharon!"
She yelled at her, in order to blow some sense in her freaked out brain. Slowly making her stand up, Kria turned to Swayam.
"Tum bomb blast kar chuke ho na? So why don't you just chuck off?"
He was dumbfounded. He hadn't expected such a remark from Kria. And especially after having proper knowledge of her worsened terms with Sharon, whom she was supporting and protecting in full spirit at the moment. But, he too understood the weakness this moment held. He quietly stepped out of the window and followed the same route back down to the road.
"Sharon!" Kria called in a sharp voice.
Startled, Sharon looked up. The concern those brown pools held, was the same. The worries Kria was reflecting were the very ones that had always been held intact solely for her. Solely for her because she knew that Kria didn't give a damn to rest of the people in this world. Her life comprised of 3 pillars - her mom, Sharon & Amish.
Amish?
Something within her suffocated Sharon. What was happening in their peaceful lives? What was she doing? Why was she devastating everything for Kria? And why couldn't this concern in her eyes put a full stop to all this?
Things were getting tougher for her, with each passing second. The look at Kria's face was what Sharon could live with. This particular concern was what she could live for. Kria had been her everything, after her mother's retreat from her world. Yes. There was nothing like 'motherly love' or 'mother-daughter relation' in her life. Her mother had been a career oriented business woman; widowed when just in the early years of her marriage, when Sharon was just 4. And since then, Sharon had been a lonely soul - until she met Kria. And now...
She was suddenly overwhelmed and couldn't take the rush of all the emotions at one time.
"SHARON...!" The loudness of Kria's voice grew exponentially, as tears trailed down a smiling Sharon's face.
Kria felt as the whole of her world collapsed in the moment. There was nothing on this earth, that had ever made Sharon emotional. She had always been a happy-go-girl in terms of friends and a rock solid ice queen in terms of boyfriends. Never - mind it - never, had Kria seen tears in her eyes for all the time she had been with her. And this, 'all the time' comprised of 11 fat years.
They had met back in Kria's highschool, where Sharon had been admitted in 3rd standard. On the very first day to school, she had befriended Kria. And being the shy individual she was, Kria had finally found a best friend after having spent five years in the same school.
And now watching tears flowing out from her glimmering red eyes, had made Kria become that 9 year old kid again. And in no time, all the happenings of the past two days had been clouded too much to be remembered by her.
"Sharon please..." And with the plead, she pulled her into a tight hug.
As her wet eyes emitted a few streams, she felt Sharon whimper like a kid. Maybe she too had become that 9 year old girl.
"Kr... Kria... I ca...can't get ma...married right now...ow..." She stammered frivolously between her wails.
"Its okay Sharon, we'll find a way out. Tum shaadi nahi karogi... We'll sort this out! There has to be some way..." Kria kept on chanting, as she patted her back.
First reducing to sobs, Sharon's weeps finally ceased.
"Way out? Nahi Kria, there isn't any! Mom ko koi nahi samjha sakta."
Sighing, Kria sat down. Still trying to figure out some way how to put away this stupid engagement, she looked back at Sharon. She seemed tensed. Oh yes - she was! She had to be! What had gotten in Kria that she was doubting the cries that she'd witnessed for the first time in her life? Uh! How pathetic of her! She felt a pinch of guilt run all through her system.
Or - maybe not?
In a flash, the clouds shielding Sharon's cheats subsided, and Kria's brain was stormed by pictures of Sharon in Amish's arms. Hell! How could she forget? Sharon was not willing to marry, because she loved Amish. Simple as that!
Kria was suddenly filled with an immediate urge to puke. How could she embrace and satiate the girl bearing the credit of all the sorrows in her life? Not pathetic - but foolish was the proper adjective to be used. Kria, mentally, gave innumerable slaps to herself.
Foolish, foolish and foolish!
Her attention was then drawn back to Sharon. Her eyes were wide, and mouth open. She seemed to have been reminded of something, suddenly.
And true this was.
"Shit..." It was under her breath, but Kria heard her. "Kria! I'll be back in a moment!" Saying so, she straightened her dress and pulled her fingers through her hair.
Turning on her heels, she stalked out of the room.
"I KNEW IT!" Kria yelled with gritted teeth.
The frustration currently present in her, had made her brain cells collapse and end all sorts of thought processes running in there.
***
"Bhaiya...!" She yelled for the umpteenth time.
"Shut up Rayma, please!" And he shushed her for the umpteenth time.
Rolling her eyes, irritatedly, she spoke on.
"We don't damned know the college she belongs to! Kyu peeche pad gaye ho aap? And she is not even your friend. Ek rasta chalti ladki ko help kiya - woh bhi mujhse jhoot bol ke! And on top of that, idiotically uska college dhundh rahe ho itne bade sheher mein. Aapka dimag sach much kharab ho chuka hai bhaiya!" She ended up yelling at his face.
But Reyansh could care less. After the frantic voice he had heard over the phone, there was no force stopping him from reaching over to her. And her college - of course he knew it pretty well.
"I know her college." He scowled.
"Huh!? How?" Rayma turned to him, wide eyed.
"Rayma! Later please?" He rolled his eyes.
Suddenly his phone rang.
"Yup?" He was way too nonchalant.
But, the words being delivered from the other side got utter attention from him. He pulled the car onto one side of the road, and listened patiently.
"Oh - Okay!"
"Arre of course! Always thankful to you yaara! Chal miltey hain fir jald hi..." He smiled and hung up.
Rayma was badly confused upon what all was happening in her surroundings due to her mighty brother's antics.
"What was that?" She blinked at him.
He gave her a lopsided grin.
"Let it be na! Paani-puri khayegi?"
"WHAT...?" Rayma exclaimed, more confused than she had ever been in her life.
"Paani ke batashey, Fuchkey, Gol-gappey... Umm... Bass aur naam nahi pata mujhe!" Rey grinned at her.
"Very funny, bhaiya!" She rolled her eyes and ended up giggling.
Catching the sign, he quickly drove up to the nearest U-turn and rushed off to the market.
Not being able to supress her curioaity, Rayma began again.
"Bhaiya..."
"Hmm?" He mumbled.
"What exactly is up with this 'Kria' girl and the help you've delivered to her, without actually kniwing who she was?" She looked skeptically at him.
He sighed. Not wanting to tell her the truth about the website thingy, he sighed again.
"Kiddo, ek baat batao. What was I supposed to do when a girl walking down an empty street at a late hour of the night, asks for help?" He shrugged hi shoulders.
"It was merely a coincodence, that I brought Kria home."
He felt extremely guilty of having to lie to his lovely sibling - his partener in crime. But he knew thst thi was necessary. He of course did not want her little girl to know what all he yad been doing. And moreover, it was a matter of just a month. After thst she was to go back to Dehradun. That was ot!
Yeah!
He calmed his brain down. Peeping out of the window, he realised that they had already reavhed the market while he been busy in his thoughts. Placing the car at a proper spot, he turned to Rayma who was already looking at him with furrowed brows. Oops!
Despite of having realised being caught red handed, he ignored the fact.
"Come on, lets go!"
Rayma sighed.
"I know you are concealing something from me. And you very well know, that you wont be able to get away with it. Don't you?"
Reyansh sighed.
"Ho gaya? Ab chalein?"
Sticking her tongue out at him, Rayma leapt out of the car. Shocked at the sudden change of attitude, he laughed at her kiddish-ness.
*Clisp*
The delicious pani-puri was being feverishly devoured by Rayma, while Reyansh was busy wiping his tears.
"Oh God! I don't understand how do you girls do that!"
And as if alarmed, Rayma narrowed her eyes at him.
"What is meant by 'you girls'? Uss rastey wali Kria ko pani puri bhi khilayi hai kya aapne, bhaiya?"
Reyansh choked on the pani puri and began coughing wildly. Rushing off to the distantly parked car, Rayma brought the water of bottle they were carrying. Handing it over to him, she spoke again.
"I am not understanding what's going on in your life. Nor do I wish to interfere. But bhaiya, I love you a lot! Kuchh ulta seedha mat kar baithna. Not just apne, but kisi ke bhi saath."
Tapping his shoulder with a smile, she walked ahead leaving him contemplating her words.
