PART 15
Renu? Latha said merely something above a whisper. Renuka Sanyal couldn't believe her ears! She was meeting her little sister after so long. After ignoring the numerous phone calls and greeting cards and emails. She finally is in position when she is expected to answer a lot of questions. Latha was happy to see her akka after so long, but soon it was replaced with anger. How could she ignore her all this time?
After a glass of water and some deep breathing, Renuka said down to explain the reason behind her behaviour. 22 years ago:: It was the day of Renu's wedding, her parents had arranged it, Latha was ber excited. She loved her sister to bit and couldn't believe Renu was finally getting married. Another reason was also that, now since Renu is married she can tell her parents about her love and hopefully get it approved and be married as well. She extremely happy. But her happiness didn't last very long. She went to get her soon to be married sister form her room. But to her dismay, what she found was an empty room and a letter. Renu had run away. She addressed the letter to her beloved sister. The only one Renu was sure would understand her heart. But unfortunately her parents rushed into the room at the same time and read the letter. They misinterpreted it as Latha knowing that her sister was going to run away this whole time and kept quiet about it.
That day not only was the relationship between the elder daughter and the parents of the Sanyal household was broken but also the trust between the parents and their younger daughter. Their were embarrassed in front of the whole town. To cover up the incident and hopefully regain their status. They decided to get Latha married in the next month. Latha was trying to find her sister , so that she could bring her and her brother in law home for her wedding atleast, but there was no use. All of Renu's friends that she knew refused to tell her where she was. Due to the lack of resources at that time, Latha finally gave up. Her parents were cold towards her, and looked like they wanted to get her married as soon as possible so that she doesn't have a chance to run away, she was only let out of the house accompanied by two of her cousins at all times. This further prevented her from trying to fondant sort of whereabouts of her dear sister.
Renu told Latha that the only reason she didn't contact her was that she was scared that their parents would disown her too, and also because Renu was ashamed at her choice. She regretted throwing away the lovely relationship with her parents for a man who not only gave her no respect but also had a drinking problem. She stated crying telling Latha that she might've escaped getting punished from their parents but fate truly punished her as she felt the pain of being away from her child everyday. Before Latha had a chance to ask what happened. Renu suddenly realised that Latha got married and never had a chance to tell her parents about the man she had feelings for.
Latha explain saying that he used to train them at work when she newly joined as an intern, everyone was impressed by him as he was a foreign return. She had gone out to have coffee a few times but that was it. On finding out that he was not married, Latha had planned to send a formal proposal through her parents. Renu asked her what happened as she never got to do that. Latha brightly and shyly said that she married him. To her good fortune, the guy that her parents picked out had turned out to be the same guy that she liked. Renu was soo happy for her sister. But soon Latha brushed that away and asked her what had happened to her child. Renuka told her the whole situation about Randhir and her ex husband. Latha being the curious soul asked if she had a picture of her nephew. Renu promptly pulled out a phone and showed her the only that she had secretly taken during the recent dream team presentation.
Latha squealed when she saw it. She told renu that she had met Randhir, when Manasvi had brought all her friends to Kerala for the wedding. "Wait! Manasvi..Manasvi Ramachandran? That's your daughter? My niece? " I met her too at the dream team presentation. They had both laughed at that. They had met their niece and nephew without even knowing the truth of that connection that they had felt during their meeting. They had promised to make them formally meet each other after they were back from their village assignment. With that they left for a coffee shop not only with a successful deal but also a mended sisterly bond.
At the village::
Today was a festival day in the village. It had a very complicated name, gan..something, anyway! The teams were all invited to the massive feast and program held by the sarpanch. Sanyu and Kaustuki were forcing Manasvi in their plan to dress up, but she wasn't in the mood today. She insisted they all go in their normal clothing, atleast they would be comfortable. They had finally given up, a little bit disappointed that they wouldn't be able to wear the clothes that Kamla aunty had so lovingly lent them. They all started to walk out, Kaustuki was just locking the door. Meanwhile Manasvi turned on their flashlight and pointed it at their walking path, but soon squinted at a strange silhouette and walked a little further to get a clear view. She was shocked to see Priya near Parth again, in traditional clothing. With a determined glance, she walked back and stopped Kasutuki saying that they shouldn't hurt Kamla aunty's feeling and that they should just wear the clothes.
Sanyu was the most excited, she was hoping to dress up and look great today. Randhir seemed to like that for some strange reason. Though at gun point she might admit that she was doing it for his attention. They all rushed back in and changed quickly. Putting on their final touches and making sure that they all looked like desi patakas! They made their way out to the festivities. Randhir was waiting impatiently near the giant tree along with an equally impatient Parth for the girls. Ever since Parth had the light bulb moment with Manasvi's feelings, he couldn't wait to see her. Randhir was just waiting for Sanyukta as usual and a little for Manasvi. Parth had finally reluctantly told him her ex college's story, after a few punches and shoves and little death threats. He had this strong protective feeling all of a sudden, something he only usually had for Sanyukta but this was different. He couldn't explain it, it was almost like he was trying to protect his sibling. But then again he had made up his mind ages ago that Manasvi was like his baby sister. Another minute reason why he was looking out for her, although a little selfish was because, she was Sanyukta's best friend and he couldn't bear to see his beloved upset over something. It was like a chain reaction, Manasvi happy meant Sanyukta happy! Sanyukta happy meant Randhir extra happy. It all works out perfectly.
What didn't work out perfectly was when he saw the girls approach towards them. He immediately had his eyes on Sanyukta, she looked amazing. She always looked good in pure traditional clothing, there was just something in those clothes that brought out all her best features, which in Randhir's opinion were everything. He would have just kept himself in his daze but he shifted it a little bit just to see Parth's reaction, that guy looked like he wouldn't budge even if he were knocked by a flagpole. So Randhir did what he was best at, nudged him in his ribs. Munh bandh Karo uncle! Parth gave him a sheepish glare. Manasvi looked great. With a little bit more drool they all headed together to the place. As if on cue, Rohit rushed over to where they were standing, Sanyu and Kaustuki were just about act as human shields when Manasvi stepped to the front as if preparing herself. Rohit once again babbled on about how he missed her and that she was looking great. This time Manasvi altered her reaction slightly and just as excitedly said! Hi Rohit! And blabbed something rapidly in Tamil and then she flicked her hair and walked. She motioned the group to follow her. What she didn't see were three shocked faces, Parth , Randhir and Rohit himself.
Parth for obvious reasons, Randhir because according to Parth last night Mansvi hated this guy but why was she talking to him like a lost friend. With similar questions in their heads they all sat down at the spot that Jiggy, YOyo and Sahil had reserved for them. Out of the corner of their eyes they saw the girls looking over at Rohit's direction and were giggling. Sanyu looked at Randhir's confused expression, she scooted closer to him and explained that Manasvi hated the guy and that they had just found out what she said to him in tamil.
Manasvi told Rohit that it was good to see him as well and that he looked exactly like he always does. As good as the bottom of a horse's foot! And that Randhir is how Manasvi deals with the people she hates. With that she burst out laughing again. Randhir was looking at this pile of cuteness in infront of him. He couldn't help but brush that strand of hair covering her beautiful face. With that they just looked at each other with some unexplained feelings and turned their heads to see the program.
Wokayy!!
That's it again!!
Hope everyone likes it...
Love
Vinu
